  I'm 8 months' post-op. I still deal with stress incontinence, which prevents me from being nude at home (too messy). For the same reason I've stayed away from spas and resorts. I'm working with a pelvic floor physical therapist on exercises that may be helping. Progress has been slow. I feel discouraged, but I accept that in my case it may take longer to resolve. If it doesn't, there's a surgical option, but that feels premature at this point. If there's more I can tell you, please don't hesitate to message me. Best of luck on your treatment.

  I had my prostate removed 16 years ago. Leakage was an issue at first but the kegel exercises helped a bunch. I now almost never have leakage unless I'm physically tired and have a really full bladder. One other thing to know. If I don't have an empty bladder before orgasm, I will sometimes leak urine then.

  I'm going in for a TURP (transurinary resection of the prostate) which doesn't involve removing the prostate but taking a bit of it away to make the opening to the urethra larger. It looks like leakage might be a problem there as well. I'll just have to see.

  I've had radiation treatment for my prostate instead of surgery, only because shortly before I was gonna have it removed, I had a blood clot in my lung and was put on a blood thinner, so the surgeon didn't want to operate on me indicating that there was no good way to determine how much internal bleeding there would b because of being on the blood thinnere, thus the treatment option for my prostate cancer was 40+ sessions of radiation treatments.

  on to the topic: I was having enlarged prostate issues before all of that and had been experiencing some leakage. Because I still have my foreskin, I have been able to put tissue paper over the head and wrap it over with my foreskin to catch any leakage so it doesn't hit any of my clothes. I don't get to be nude outside my home as much as I'd like, but in those situations, I have a towel either around my neck, around my waist, or in hand so I can cattch any leakage before it becomes too apparent. I'm also on a medication that helps me from having to make frequent trips to the bathroom. If I had more opportunity to be nude socially or outdoors, maybe my situation would be different.

  Well, I ended up having the procedure last month. No real issues, although I did have to wear a catheter for three days. At first, I had to wear Depends because there was almost no time between the desire to urinate and the urge to do so. And it was frequent, like every couple of hours. I got to having a urinal at my bedside just in case I felt I couldn't make it to the bedroom.

  After three weeks, I was able to sleep the entire night through without having to get up and pee. After a month, I no longer had to wear the Depends, although I wore underwear, even at night, in case I had a bit of leakage during that period of wanting-to-pee/needing-to-pee. I'm pretty much over that, six weeks after the surgery.

  My urologist said that it sometimes takes four to five months to get back to normal. That's good news, and I feel that I'm already mostly there.

  Thanks! I hope that it will encourage other men to stay on top of their prostate conditions, and take the necessary steps to stay healthy. Too many lives lost to prostate cancer, too many men afflicted by complications from an enlarged prostate even when it's benign.

  Ive done TUR-P for approx 6-7 years ago, and Im very pleased with the result. One small disappointment with the surgery is more of sexual point of view. I dont get the sperma out , it goes to the Urine bones Instead but the feeling is the same.

  I guess it's time for another progress report. I'm back to normal now, with almost no ill effects from the surgery. The only thing is a slightly shorter interval between "could use a pee" to "really need to pee," but it's entirely manageable. (That sorter interval may be due more to advancing age than the operation itself.)

  The whole reason for the TURP was to facilitate passage of bladder stones. I won't find out about that until my next MRI, which I hope won't be for some time to come.
