We have a good post on our favorite beers, I thought I'd start one on our favorite whiskies.
I enjoy just about any whiskey/hard liquor neat, with exception of gin (OK in mixed drinks but don't care for it straight up). My hands down favorite whiskey is good ole bourbon (which God himself loves, lol). I love the taste, and the warm feeling that spreads throughout the entire upper body as it makes it way down (bourbon's loving embrace?). Neat or on the rocks, with Wild Turkey 101 is a favorite. Finishing up a bottle of Jim Beam's Red Stag (blackcherry flavored bourbon) now - not bad. Heard some good things about Maker's Mark, but haven't tried yet. Rum is my second favorite, and I also enjoy Jack Daniels, Southern Comfort, Scotch, Irish, and Canadian (good whiskey, and cheap!) whiskies for something different. My favorite time is after dinner, or after being outside shoveling snow in the winter (quick way to warm up your insides).
What say you?
I guess that leaves a post on wine, but I'll leave that to somone who knows something about wine (lol). I only know there is red, white, and that blue stuff that goes great with anything.

MidGaNudistJun 11, 2010I like most whisky, my favorite being single malt scotch, neat of course. I don't particularly like blended scotch though. For single malts I like Talisker, Oban, Macallan, and even like the heavy peat flavor of Laphroaig. I also enjoy a good Irish Whisky especially in my weekend coffee. My favorite everyday drink would be Crown Royal smooth and relatively inexpensive.

Obviously I am into Irish Whiskey. All are smooth and mellow with a distinctive taste. I drink it straight and at room temperature in order to truly enjoy it ... why dilute a great whiskey with mix or ice? The Gaelic name for whiskey is uisce beatha which translates as water of life. Naked-HoustonJun 11, 2010Jack Daniels is my drink of choice, usually on the rocks, but I've been known to drink it straight from the bottle. In college I drank Pinch, but switched to Jack somewhere along the way.

Good posts, guys. Seems scotch is the favorite of the majority, but some whiskey drinkers with good taste so far!
bxnanude - maybe you could get a post on wine going sometime. With that and one on favorite cocktails, we'll have all our bases covered.

Fred RodgersJun 15, 2010George Dickle no12, Jim Beam Rye and Jack Daniel Green Label are my top choices. Speyburn Single Malt would be up there too, if I could find it in these parts.

TravelNUdie, that's quite an inventory! Maybe we should have a party over at your place, lol. I must say, though, you do have good taste, as do the other posters thus far.
Scotch still seems to be the favorite, but this post is still young.

AJun 24, 2010Mike, outside US, CAN and Ireland, usually Scotch is the most drunk type of whisky - I have no exact knowledge of the 3 countries but I am rather positive that at least US and Ireland (and Japan) local Whiskey more popular than Scotch, so would be rather interesting to pinpoint the relation of our Canadian and American members' preference to Scotch vs. locally produced and see if any conclusions can be made of it how the nudies differ from average population in their Whisky/whiskey preferences. At least in Europe in most stores the Scotch most readily available and even well-stocked shops rarely offer more than a few brands of Irish, US. and/or Canadian Whiskeys whereas they easily may have dozens of different labels of Blended and even many Single Malt Scotch Whiskies on their shelves. In Asia again it is the Blended Scotch that are overrepresented, in Duty Frees there the luxury brands and regular shops standard Blended ones.

I'm partial to unblended straight whisky.
Good scotch, and most Tennessee whisky.
Johnny Walker Blue label, and Gentleman Jack rate highly.
Also like GOOD wines. Partial to Chambourcin in red, and Chennin Blanc in white. ( depending on the vintner )

Whisky? Always! Jack Daniels mostly, but other brands work when the Jacks gone! The wife is a Rum girl, Captian Morgan is her choice, but a beer will work just fine for her.

homefree - as a bourbon afficionado, I also enjoy JD (close in taste, but a bit different). If yoru wife likes the Captain, she should check out some of their newer line of rums. I highly recommend Captian Morgan's Tattoo - taste great str8!

I enjoy a double shot of a single malt Scotch before retiring to bed. When not trucking, of course. However a good friend turned me on to , sweet, for a change. Hence, once in a while I go for , Wild Turkey's , American Honey. Chilled.

For those with a sweet tooth, you should give Yukon Jack a try. A fine and reasonably priced liqueur from Canada. It always went down good in the winter time after coming in from shoveling snow. A few others are Jim Beam's Red Stag (black cherry flavored bourbon) and Captain MOogan's Tattoo (their spiced rum flavored with cherry/blackberry - can't tell for sure).

I'm drinking a bottle of Gosling's Black Seal dark rum. Very good so far, straight or with Coke.
