I work in downtown St. Louis. As far I as I know, some male textiles use their lunch hour to go across the river and visit Illinois "nudie bars", where they can gawk at strippers. No, I haven't done it myself. :-) Nor do I intend to.
The point is, if they have their "nudie bars", why can't we have "nudist bars"?
Imagine a nudist-only establishment where patrons can visit for 30-60 minutes, eat, drink and socialize with their fellow nudists. A sauna, a hot tub, maybe even a small pool... A lounge, definitely. Of course, the windows would be draped, and all kinds of warning signs would be posted at the front door. :-)
The good thing is, this establishment could work year round, with no regards for the weather outside.
Legal issues? Well, if nudie bars can function (albeit not in Missouri), and adult bookstores can function as well (again, with draped windows and warning signs), then why not? After all, there would be no lewd activity...
I know I'm probably being overly enthusiastic (as a typical neophyte normall is), but still...

Pasha71Original PosterOct 14, 2010Well, they do have smoking and nonsmoking sections in restaurants already. :-) However, I am afraid the clothed patrons would probably be too indignant about a nude section. :-(
A couple days of week would be more realistic.ReactReply - GA
gabareOct 15, 2010from my understanding and i haven't been there yet but key west has a bar where customers can be nude, and its been awhile since i have read about it maybe someone else can fill us in but i can't remember if you can be nude all the time or certain times of week. i will see if i can find that info and post, but sound like a good idea to me.

Pasha71Original PosterOct 15, 2010Lucky Floridians... and they have Haulover Beach, too. :-)

westheathenOct 15, 2010The idea is good, but as someone else said probably unsustainable. Another problem is that a sauna, jaccuzi and steam room would probably not be allowed for safety reasons. If you read up on it there is advice not to use them while under the influence of drink. But the main idea is sound.

njmikeOct 15, 2010Actually, may not be such a crazy idea. In the late 1990's, I came across a website for a nudist bar in Ottawa, Canada. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name (perhaps some of our Canadian members do). It seemed successful at the time, but I do not know if it is still in operation. They had a list of rules to follow, but I don't recall them requiring membership, like a club.
I had a similar idea for a casino for nudists, but that probably would not be practical as you need high volume of customers for a casino to be profitable. And if your busines is not profitable, you are not in business for long. Now a nudist fitness center - might work in the right location.

Pasha71Original PosterOct 15, 2010Well, I sure didn't expect so much support. :-) Thanks.
To tell you the truth, I don't even drink. :-) Now, alcohol and nudity... but does it have to be a bar? Or even a business?
Can it just be an indoor nudist club/hangout? If several hundred local nudists (or at least several dozen) pay a monthly fee, and the club rents several rooms with, say, an indoor pool... yes, food and non-alcoholic drinks would still be served, but it would still be a club rather than a business establishment...
And, of course, rules about no sexual behavior would be very strict.ReactReply - GA
gabareOct 15, 2010i agree with the thought of alcohol naked people and some idiots getting out of hand, years ago i belonged to a nudist club that was just starting out and they were pretty liberal when it came to alcohol even with the owners being recovering alcoholics, i think they looked the other way to generate business and dollars as time went on it got out of hand and they kicked the worse offenders out and enforced rules a little better making it a more enjoyable place, it would take a lot of enforcement to make a bar enjoyable to get nude especially for the ladies i think.

We also have nude discos and clubs.[/quote] Thank you for sharing this. Is there a directory (or list) so that I can make an informed choice of where to visit next time I am in London?ReactReply

tntcplingaOct 16, 2010It would be a pain as a woman to go for 30 minutes. Take a few minutes to get undress, make sure my clothes won't get wrinkled, eat, dress, and adjust my hair, then get back to work.

orbarebearFeb 21, 2011The Eagle in Portland, OR is a non-sexual, clothing optional, gay bar. Most patrons are textiles, but every other Thu is free nude pool, co-sponsored by the local gay nudist group OMEN. I'm a little too far away to go regularly though.

Carl_c-sJun 11, 2011There are several nudist bars in London (UK), but the two I have so far visited have been 'male only' venues. I will pass on their names and addresses to anybody who is interested.

Robert LittleJun 20, 2011In New Orleans there's a great place called the Country Club in the Bywater district. Basically this is a big ol' house with a restaurant inside and a large pool area in back. The restaurant is textile-only, but the pool area is clothing optional and they serve alcohol (great margaritas). I've been there a couple times, both on weekend afternoons. and really had a good time. Mixed crowd with both men and women, lots of locals, a large but not dominant gay presence, and I'd say maybe half the people were nude. I would definitely recommend the place and wish there were more like it around!

DesertRatSep 21, 2011There's an organization that sponsors nude video gaming nights at video arcades. People, mostly singles, go there to play video games, talk and meet other like minded people all while being in the nude. I believe that this is in New Youk City.
