Would most of us be comfortable walking into a grocery store nude if 99.9 percent of the folks around us were clothed. It would definately need to be warm outside.

PaulDec 22, 2021As it is, the most I wear is t-shirt and shorts.
Even though MO is warmer than CA, I think you would also find it chilly
If I'm going to be outside for an extended period of time, I do wear more clothing -- even shoes on occasion. But if I'm just going to be walking from my car to a store, the t-shirt and shorts are enough.ReactReply - ST
SteveDec 22, 2021Female toplessness is already legal in New York. Do you see it in grocery stores? No. Couple of reasons: The stores themselves have rules in addition to the general law, and the women, protesters aside, would just generally rather shop than create a scene. Same for me if state and local laws in general permitted nudity. First question: Would I be welcome to be nude in this particular private venue? Second question: Is this the day I want to be the guy who's attracting attention, and possibly causing offense, by dressing out of the norm?
Norms do change, but that change is gradual. Legal nudity might creep into being usual on beaches and in parks, then maybe on the street in certain areas, then in businesses adjacent. Too far, too fast, and there's just backlash. Witness what happened in San Francisco with nudity on crowded subway cars, cockrings outside elementary schools, that sort of aggressiveness. Or Brattleboro.

PaulDec 22, 2021In Denver, women are allowed to be topless anywhere man are allowed to be topless.
Female toplessness is already legal in New York. Do you see it in grocery stores? Private business owners have the right to establish and enforce whatever standards they so desire as long as those standards do not discriminate based on protected classes. As it stands, Walmart and Sam's do not have any policy or standard beyond the law. If you were at a Walmart in Vermont or Oregon (and were outside of the few specific cities that have enacted anti-nudity laws), then Walmart would not require you to wear clothing.ReactReply - TD
Tom DDec 22, 2021Wal-Mart already has a reputation for allowing sloppy and minimal dress.
Has anyone ever seen nude or topless female customers in Wal-Mart in locations where it is legal?ReactReply - TD

I know a woman who had breast cancer and, while they gave her a prosthetic breast, she chose not to do a nipple reconstruction. I imagine she might have qualms about exposing her entire breast. That said, it may just be a fashion statement. Sometimes one can make a body part more erotic by hiding it. Since we nudists don't strip for purposes of arousing people, it's not an issue for us. But we're not like everybody else.ReactReply - TD

SteveDec 23, 2021The most daring I can recall seeing is a woman in a small thong bikini (with top on) in a take-away shop close to a surburban beach. Not illegal in Victoria as I understand it, but notable for it not being common. No one seemed to mind.

BradDec 23, 2021I don't think I would in a grocery store, they have their own rules and health codes to worry about. If it was common place so many people could enjoy it, yes I would join in at a park or anywhere it is fitting to do so.

In addition, it is not unusual for glass containers to break and difficult to get all of the glass up. Although I'm sure it must happen at some point, I've only once seen glass on the floor of a grocery store. The jar and contents were still there -- hadn't been cleaned up yet. I'm VERY temperature tolerant. I'm almost always the last person to comment on how hot or cold it is -- I've never noticed that grocery stores are cooler than other stores. They may well be; I've just never noticed.ReactReply - PA
PaulDec 23, 2021Official Walmart policy says no such thing. There is no preference beyond upholding the law. Tom DDec 23, 2021I've been told to leave 2 convenience store and home depot. Wouldn't even let me buy what I already had when I got to the checkout counter. On a more positive note, several other convenience stores and a produce stand were OK with me shopping shirtless.

I said "Excuse me mam I am not sure how to say this, and I am not complaining. But I think maybe you are showing a little more than you intended to". Then I moved my hand over my right tit. She looked down at herself, then looked up at me with "The evil eye" and tugged the blouse over the nipple and stormed off without saying a word. Others in Walmart had to have noticed because her areola was about 2.5" diameter and darker brown. Kind of like a beacon against the milky white skin ;-)ReactReply - GO

The cashier in one convenience store could have just as well been topless. She had a button up shirt, with a button above and one below the breast, the overlap of the shirt was wide open (no bra) with a perfect view of the whole A cupped cutie ;-) The cash register was positioned so that the cashier was sideways to the customers.ReactReply - TD
