  I swim nude whenever possible, including in hotel pools when there are no other guests present.
  I have never had any problems from the hotel staff when doing this, even though the pools are usually covered by CCTV.
  The two inset pictures show the CCTV camera circled in yellow and the monitor in the hotel lobby, top right.
  
  However I do have some tan-through tangas for when other guests are present. The reason for tan-through is that they are more comfortable and dry quicker - in practice wrapping them in the pool towel while you dress leaves them dry enough to put in your pocket.

  Do skinny dipping during summer when ever possible. Most for lunch breaks from work when weather gets hot. During winter I join the saturday night nude swimming in a public swimmingpool with a sauna attached to it.

  I own a lot more swimwear than I did before I started swimming naked. In those days a pair wore out in a couple of years and were replaced. Since then I have become acutely aware of uncomfortable swimwear and as a result I am continually trying different styles and materials to find something acceptable for when I swim in textile environments. Because they are rarely worn they never wear out with the result that I own swimwear bought over the last thirty years because I find it difficult to throw them out as they take up very little storage space.   If I could swim nude more often and more easily, I would. But you know how city life is. Only place I can swim nude is the nude beach.

  Got rid of the two extremes in my swimwear supply today.
  Got rid of the board shorts that I haven't worn in 2 years.
  Still have a mid-thigh nylon suit for situations where something conservative is needed.
  Also tossed the Kiniki tanga because i doubt that I would wear that little any place I couldn't be nude.
  I also still have one each of speedo solar, kiniki full brief and kiniki swim shorts (very short about 2" inseam.
  Am thinking about getting rid of the speedo solar because the Kiniki are so much more comfortable and dry faster.
  Three is probably about as low as I can go at this point.

  I find that the Kiniki tanga is great for swimming in hotel pools - especially as the tan-through fabric dries so quickly. If I wrap it in the hotel's pool towel while I dress after drying myself it's dry enough to put in my pocket so there's nothing to carry back to my room (or to the bar).
  In fact it has never been worn outdoors in the sunshine.

But skinny dipping is better, of course![/quote] You have stated the situation precisely in your post. It is ALMOST see-through. That is how the tan-through works. However the garments are cleverly patterned to supplement the optical opacity and make them perfectly modest, even when wet. My wife, who is totally non-exhibitionist wears tan-through swimsuits at the local indoor public pool as they are completely modest, very comfortable and quick drying. She has never used them for sunbathing as she always does that naked at nudist locations.

  I went with Kiniki because they cost about half as much as cool tan. However, since the latter sells true swim shorts and the former does not, I may get a pair next year and have only tan through swimwear.

  I got a pair of Cool Tan back at the beginning of the summer, the jury is still out on the tanning however they are light weight, cooler, and dry quicker. In the right light they are see through, but that hasn't been an issue so far.
  Worth the investment, although nude is always better!

  Yeah when you first start out or after wet suit season is over your nipples take a beating until they get used to the rubbing on the wax.

  we recently went to the Bahamas wore my cool tan shorts the whole time felt great had no issues and yes you can get sunburned all over just my two cents

  Yes I am fortunate to live very near an optional beach and go for a quick dip after work. No need for towel of swimwear just strip off and go in. Its a shame more beaches aren't like this.

  versatility is good, be nude when we can but have suitable fabric to be compatible with whoever we're with. So I use synthetic mesh gym shorts with the conservatives, got some briefs for the more liberal associations, (which actually hasn't yet happened, but will in time) and don't bother to use anything when alone or with naturists. My water time has been very limited for many years, although when young I went as far as I could in swim training short of life guard training. I figure as I get my diet where I want it and start gaining physical capacity I want to start making regular trips to a lap pool and see how far I can build speed swimming. It will be a university pool about 50 miles away, and of course no nude swimming, but I think the 1.5" side brief I got 2" oversize (so it would not be too tight and uncomfortable) would be quite acceptable there, even if 99% of swimmers have gone to board short imitations. They cost a lot more with zero benefit, just paying extra for reduced comfort and less ease of movement. If anyone bothers to comment I can tell em I grew up in the 70's when every swimmer wore briefs, why should I change? But it may be that the older generation still uses them enough that no one would bother to comment, other than perhaps know nothing youngsters. And I guess they are still used in certain situations, as water polo.

  Your argument that you grew up in the 70's when most men swam in briefs should be sufficient. However, the same line of reasoning probably would not work for men who grew up in the 60's or earlier when most men swam nude unless there were women present.
