Feb 1, 2015I am going on the Carnival Breeze does anyone know if it has a clothing optional deck? They have an adult only deck, but it does not look the same as a clothing optional deck. It is usually a small area at the very tallest part of the ship, open top, with chest high sides. I know the Liberty does I have been naked there most of the cruise....... Thanks any help would be appreciated..

J.Feb 1, 2015Your best bet for these kinds of questions is to check out theCruise Critic Forums. I know Carnival had a topless deck back in 1997 when we took our first cruise for our honeymoon. But since then, the only other Carnival cruise that we've been on that had any nudity allowed was the Bare Necessities nude cruise on the Carnival Freedom in 2013!ReactReply - HA

They are a little more expensive, but you don't have to research ahead of time whether a particular ship has a topless area while sailing particular routes, or whether it will be fully nude during your cruise. You just need to know where the main dining room and specialty restaurants are, since they are the only places where youcan'tbe nude.ReactReply - SI

The Carnival cruise we took in 2003 had a topless deck up top. Official or not, they arraigned the chairs in a semi circle so there was a nude area of about 15-18 people. I'll have to look up the name of the ship.ReactReply - J.J.Feb 22, 2015[quote]

[/quote]Like I said earlier in the thread, check out Cruise Critic. They had a thread in the 2010-2011 time frame stating that Carnival was getting rid of the topless deck on their non-European itineraries. There was a whole group devoted to sailing with Carnival and using that deck. They called themselves the Whales Tales, and reported which ships were friendly to full nude use of that deck. Didn't keep up with the status once we found Bare Necessities and started going on cruises where the whole ship was nude. I have been on many Carnival Cruses. Sorry to say much of what I am looking for is not available on most cruise ships any longer! If you want to run around in a thong, or less you will be, as I, one of the very few, always on the lookout. The cost of an all nude cruise is holding me back from going. Not sure why they are more expensive and limited. I say they should all be clothing optional. I would be game! [/quote] Don't let the cost hold you back. You get a ship full of fun people who will socialize and participate in shipboard events and not spend the cruise complaining about the food and service. Both of the cruise directors on our nude cruises have admitted they were nervous at the start of the cruise, but by the end admit it is a lot better having a bunch of passengers joining in on all of the activities than just watching the staff doing everything, even if they aren't used to most of them being nude! They are on the smaller ships that don't have a lot of the fancy gimmicks like surf machines and rock climbing walls, but we haven't been to any nude resorts with those either. Other than the main dining room where you have to be clothed, the entire ship becomes a nude resort at sea. If they weren't fun there wouldn't be a 70% return customer rate. We saw a lot of the same people on our two nude cruises. We only go every other year (not because of cost as much as the logistics of taking two weeks off from work since the cruises are usually 10 nights) and there are still people who remembered us as well. If you book early you can get the cheaper inside cabins. Who needs a private balcony when you can walk nude up to the pool deck and socialize with everyone there?ReactReply - NANatureBoy24Apr 25, 2015You might want to look into a non-US based cruise line. You could clearly see nude people on their top deck from the much taller Disney ship.

AIDA has several cruises that originate in US ports.[/quote]This just came up on Cruise Critic! AIDA is a German cruise line (although owned by Carnival), so all announcements will be in German. Most crew members know English, but fellow cruisers may not. If you don't know German, you may feel like an outsider among other passengers. CC members say they don't have a regular dining room like American ships so it is buffet or specialty restaurants, but the buffets are more upscale than on American ships. [/quote]Thinking back to several cruises where we have stopped in St. Martin and dinner mates asking if we knew there was a nude beach there. Would love to do that again some time and say "sure, that's where we are heading for the day... want to join us?" Then talk about Club Orient and Bare Necessities. We would either have someone to join us at Orient Beach, or never see them again at dinner!

We also already knew marc-susan from the 2013 cruise.
We are booked for 2017. If they do cabin upgrades for 2016 we might look at what gets put back into the system for interior cabins. The- Natural- One[/quote]Nude cruises cost more, but notthatmuch more, when you consider they are usually slightly longer cruises (9 nights instead of at least our usual of 7) and go on different itineraries than the regular route for the particular ship being chartered. There are ways to mitigate cost, like accepting an inside cabin when you would usually take a balcony or not paying for any dry-cleaning while on the cruise since you aren't wearing any clothes!
You will certainly meet a much higher percentage of happy people who are willing to go with the flow of the cruise rather than complain about everything. Most of the nudecursingis confined to the casino after losing particularly large bets, though! ;)ReactReply - GS

Upon asking that question, it has just occurred to me that with today's emergence of gay and lesbian couples, the goal of gender balance may be taking on a whole new set of challenges. I know there were some singles. On the Bare Necessities message board for the cruise there are singles looking for splitting the cabin cost. If I recall correctly cabins are priced for 2 people. Our dozen or so textile cruises have completely different demographics to the nude ones.
The gender balance seems close to 50/50, but that is overall -- I don't know what it is among singles. The Bare Necessities bulletin board does usually have a whole thread dedicated to single cruisers for each of their mid-winter cruises (the ones on the main line big cruise ships). Of course, you can't get an account on that board until you have booked at least one cruise with BN. As Rockdad said, even though the price quoted is per person, you are expected to have at least two in a cabin. So you need to find a roommate. You can call Bare Necessities and they can help find you one, or you can go on their bulletin board and find someone looking for a roommate (again, only if you have access to the board!)ReactReply - JS

TravellingbizguyOct 26, 2015One of the members of a meetup group I belong to is going on a cruise. The ship does not have a CO sundeck because it has that North Star pod that goes higher than the deck so there would could be a chance of offending someone in the pod.ReactReply
