I've just seen the message after I tried to edit a post that I'd made in a discussion thread in a group of which I am an administrator for, again.

It is far from the first time that I've encountered this message since the site was 'improved'. Just exactly what do I have to do to get permission to edit a post that I've made in a group that I help administer on this mess of a website?!!

Its several months since users were presented with this 'upgrade', bugs are to be expected in such a step, but I cannot recall so many new ones constantly appearing on any other website that I've used. I first used computers in the mid-70s, programming, and first built websites in the the mid-90's. I have some idea of what I'm talking about. There isn't a hope in hell that I'd ever pay a penny for membership of something that's so dis-functional, so please start paying rent for the screen real estate that TN keeps hogging on my screen, using my bandwidth for that boring, large red banner ad nagging me to pay to join.

    I have also having problems like this and thought it was down to the group mods but this isn't the case then.

    Its definitely not the case, I've just seen the same message for a post I had just made. I wanted to correct a spelling error in, its in a group that I mod. I've just tested to see whether it happens in these general forum threads too with this post, apparently I do not have permission to edit this post, so yes it does, its not just group threads.

    A work around is to go to the same thread, as if you were about to make an original comment, I've been able to edit posts this way. It shouldn't need to work that way, but this is the new improved TN, getting on for half a year later and still as buggy as a stagnant pond!

    Towards the end of last year TN was a site that had numerous usability issues. Long time users had grown used to them and often knew of any workarounds. The new version was supposedly beta tested. I'm not having a pop at any TN users who may have participated in that process, but the current buggy version of TN is simply just another set of usability problems. So many of them have been reported for a while now, the lack of obvious engagement from the site owners as you mention does not give me any encouragement that they are actively trying to make this site more user-friendly.

    I see far less activity in groups now that were relatively busy prior to the 'improvements', I think that gives a clear insight into the success or otherwise of a websites 'upgrade'. Its something I always looked at after I'd been involved in doing similar work as a means of earning a living.
