Most Public Groups pretty much run themselves. The exception is some are filling up with spam posts. I regularly delete these from a group I moderate. If group moderators are active in deleting these I would like to think in some small way it discourages the spam. The problem is when a moderator has not logged in for years. At what point can someone else take over moderation?

noodengr2Dec 20, 2024there should be a way to have the site do an automatic search and delete for these spam posts. I am sick of looking at a group and seeing only fake come ons from bots looking to connect that have nothing to do with the topic. Someone please write some code to search and destroy

There are probably more, but that seems to be the bulk of them. Of course, just making the site read only until certified and/or paid would stop 99% of it. John aka cobeachbumReactReply - EA
EarlDDec 20, 2024I have tried on several occasions to take over moderation of such groups by requesting from the admin which has happened before. But these days there is no response coming from the admins about this or several other issues. [quote]The problem is when a moderator has not logged in for years. EarlDDec 20, 2024This is a very common way of reducing spam accounts on sites. At minimum there should be a requirement to complete a certain percentage of an account profile and limit the ability to post until the account is at least 7 days old. Both of those actions would slow down the amount of got accounts. [quote] Of course, just making the site read only until certified and/or paid would stop 99% of it. SteveDec 20, 2024An option to block that makes every one of their posts invisible would be nice. If it also affected the Latest Update date to the previous 'legitimate' activity, even better!
ReactReply - MEMemberDec 20, 2024You are exactly correct with your statement,"I have tried on several occasions to take over moderation of such groups by requesting from the admin which has happened before. But these days there is no response coming from the admins about this or several other issues." Team True 1 & 2 appear to be checking-in on the site infrequently these days and doing even less when here. It is extremely irritating, especially to those of us who actually want to fix the problem. Maybe one day ...ReactReply
