Another thing I keep meaning to mention is,
(I know it's probably down to this old box and dial up)
but when I click on a group that has a lot of members,
it takes ages to load them all before I can get to the
forum, it's a real pain, so I often give up.
It would be great if it were the same as the profiles,
loading only 20 or so and then having the option to
"see all."
Anyone else find this?

M_JimmieM_MAug 11, 2010I just went to group with about 180 members and it loaded fine. However I am on a satelite connection with around 60 kbs and your dialup is probably around 21 - 54 kbs.
Have you tried clearing you cache, cookies, and history I've always been told this will slow things down when they get to full.ReactReply - M_M_JimmieM_MAug 11, 2010
Hey Phil, here is another item that can cause problems like yours also. most of all when your hard drive is getting half full or more.

I'm constantly on a wing and a pray here, I have regular mega crashes where it takes me anything from a few minutes to a few days, to coax this old box with it's win 98 S/E, back into life. It keeps telling me there has been a "stacks overflow" or some thing or other is missing. Not being very comp literate, and broke, I just have to persevere with the few maintenance tasks that I know, namely delete cookies and off line content, defrag and scandisk, and finally I restore a very old backup (Don't know if this makes sense or not, but I'm scared to do a new one in case it copies the error) The problem is it won't boot, or stay up and running long enough for me to do this stuff, so I just have to persevere, far beyond what any sane person would do, until it works, thankfully, so far it always has, eventually, hence my prolonged silences on here. In fact, I've just been doing exactly that, for the last 18 hours :( The good news is, I'm back again now! :) I've also come to realise that it tells me lies too. Things like, "There has been an illegal operation and the program will now close" and " You need to reinstall windows" Often I can close this warning and carry on. I yell at it that I don't know how, and anyway I don't want to loose my Outlook Express data base, but it never listens to me! :( Life is hard and then you die :(ReactReply

Cheri Donna DawsonAug 12, 2010Phil, It almost seems like you have a spybot there with some issues you're dealing with. I was on dialup until this past December and went to Mobile Broadband. Now this inexpensive laptop is way faster than my old e-machine with XP.
You might want to run some sort of spy cleaner.
