Opened up Microsoft Edge browser after a recent major update and got a message saying Adobe Flash wont be supported from the end of 2020. Made me wonder when the update of the chat room to HTML5 might be completed so that removes the need for Flash to broadcast and view cameras. Current HTML5 implementation seems to be limited to text chat only.
Yes I know there are other browsers but I am quite OK with Edge as my default Windows browser for everything else. Even Chrome, which was my fallback for Flash, seems to be getting increasingly flaky with Flash. So guess I could add Firefox into the mix as well.
But this is pretty much only site I regularly access that requires Flash. About time it was brought up to date so it will work on standard browsers reliably. If they do that then, shock, horror, chat could even work fully in mobile devices.

AntonSep 26, 2020Well the latest upgrade to Safari v14 seems to have killed flash on a Mac so right now the cams dont load anymore and there is no walk around. Is the site going to be upgraded?

JohnSep 26, 2020"No longer supported" and will "no longer work" are two different things. Flash will be around for awhile yet, it just won't get updated if any (new) security flaws are found. It won't really go away until developers stop using it.

John aka cobeachbum[/quote] It might not go away but it is getting more and more flaky to use and awkward on most browsers. I used to use chrome as a backup to Edge for problems with Flash. But that has become flakier over the last year or so. Firefox seems OK at the moment, but who knows in six months time. TT made quite a bit of noise about migrating the chat room to HTML5, but the reality is they did a half a***d unfinished job. Apart from iffy Flash support in browsers it effectively rules out camera usage on iPads etc. Full HTML 5 support isnt hard. I had several products migrated to it, and ai retired 4 years ago. If I were TT ai would complete the HTML5 migration and then make viewing and broadcasting cams a paid membership feature. Might earn a reasonable amount extra and stop some of the less desirable elements in the chat room.ReactReply
