As a lifetime paid certified user of over 15 years, Im now no longer allowed to be in the chat room. This is because a moderator has decided I must give him full access to my profile. This moderator has been blocked by me - on the main site, NOT the chat room - for over a decade, after repeated expressions of bigotry and discrimination toward me and others. I abide by 100% of terms of service for both the site and the chatroom, but no user, including myself, should be forced to be friends with any other user, even a moderator, who continually expresses offensive or bigoted views. So, for those of you who I enjoyed chat with over the years, please know that Im no longer allowed in the chat unless the owners explain to the moderator that it is within the TOS for me to wish not to communicate with him on the main site.

MarcusOct 16, 2024What are the rules to become a moderator? When I look on the profile of this guy, I see only one contact, no photos, no certification, only one group, no locations, no blogs. This guy does not qualify as a member. For sure he does not qualify as a moderator.

I know the basic access to the site is free, but it's really gone downhill over the past few years. TONS of fake profiles, no technology improvements in 10+ years, ineffective search engine, inability to delete emails and now apparently over-zealous mods.. etc.ReactReply - CR
croydonscotOct 19, 2024It sounds like the whole moderator system needs to be looked at. Personally I never use the chat rooms but from what I read on comments that some moderators see their role about setting old scores with members they don't like and there's a huge variation on what constitutes a ban.
Yet on the other hand I get bombarded by fake profiles with stock pictures pretending to be single Woman and wanting to friend me. The fact that their language is sexual in tone proves they haven't been bothered to read my profile before sending their message and friend request. I have an update for everyone. I got a message from tt2 thanking me for clarifying what happened to me, and stating they agree this is an OVERSTEP by the moderators. They said the moderators should be able to ensure users follow the rules in chat and ban accordingly, but they shouldnt have control about someones main profile nor ban because of it. She also said she would tell the moderators this. We will see if the select few moderators choose to abide by what the site owners say, but if this happens to anyone else, know that it is the moderator is who violating TOS and not you.

Perhaps they should do a better job of vetting mods before giving out that sort of access to their site. I have never been on a site so heavily moderated. Am happy to hear though that you did get a response.

Thank you for being reasonable and principled, and congratulations for getting a response from the owners. The intolerance and bigotry expressed in the chatroom, especially by mods, is unpleasant and completely indefensible.

For all effort it takes to join and get certified, and the amount of personal information you have to give , it surprises me how restrictive the site is.

Regardless, a key from TT2 is that an admin, moderator anyone with a hammer, who goes into chat and automatically bans anyone who has not provided them access to their profile is overstepping their bounds, as it has nothing to do with chat rules. This is specifically what several hammer people had decided was a rule within the last couple of weeks, and TT2 has told me she will tell them they are no longer allowed to do.ReactReply

I couldn't agree more these scammers are increasing and it's time the moderators were dealing with this as a matter of urgency. I'm constantly pestered by these fakes.
Yet the moderators priority was to ban a rear view pic of me that wasn't sexual in any way.ReactReply
