Lately my friends are dropping like flies, which is all well and good all things considered. lol...But I don't have a clue who. You know that thing on your My Account screen which tells you the news (ie so and so added a pic or so and so updated their profile)? Well, I wo uld love to see so and so deleted their account or so and so cancelled you as a friend, because I don't have a clue who's leaving and it's driving me nuts. lol...Is that possible TT1?

Miss_LindaJul 19, 2009Well, Swifty, I'd say that I hadn't left you, but we haven't connected yet as friends. Maybe we can do that someday and make up for those that have left. I'm aggravated by the changes but not enough to leave.

My solution for now, is to copy my friends list, and paste it onto a new page on outlook, and store it in my TN folder. (you need to update it every couple of weeks) Then when I notice I've lost one, I compare the current list against my saved one. It's a pain, but it stops you wondering who ya lost, and you get to see if they have just dropped you or actually deleted their profile.ReactReply - PH
PhilfreeeukSep 5, 2009Deleted profiles.Don't know if this is a good idea or not. I don't like to be negative and I wouldn't want to see it in the main forum, but we could keep this list here. Copy and paste it, then add any new ones you notice on the bottom. It would help to keep us all up to date. What do you think? katie_love pete7931 TomTierney Leanne KaiThuy settojet DblBlondLuv gappygrin ceekay SarahthenudistReactReply - MI
Miss_LindaSep 6, 2009I'm not going to list people that have left TN. My energy is better off replying to the friends who remain. By the way, I have more friends now than I did when the site changed awhile back. The changes may have caused the very vocal minority to storm out the door. Most of the good folks with whom I have exchanged messages remain.

PhilfreeeukOct 4, 2009
OK confession time folks: I am (was) OnTheBeach. I quit the site a few months ago but found I just couldn't stay away. Seems TN HQ has already figured this out as some of my old posts are showing under my new moniker. Sad to see that Leanne, Traci and Sander have gone, they all made a great contribution to this site in their different ways.
You RAT! ......you had me fooled! ... haha,
(I just wasn't paying attention)
glad you couldn't stay away though.
Yes it is a big shame that we've lost some very good members,
all we can do is work to make things better here,
and hope they will one day return.

I almost sent you a message asking you just that...when I sent you the message asking about your name and the traffic song. Welcome back with open arms! PhilfreeeukOct 12, 2009
DblBlondLuv didn't leave voluntarily. They were kicked off the site for trolling and disruptive behavior.
My idea was never to restrict it to voluntary deletions. The main point of this, is just to make it easier to see who has gone, when you see your friend count drop. Not trying to compile a long list, in fact as I add one now, I knock one off the top to stop it growing too long.

PhilfreeeukOct 23, 2009
On a related note, is there somewhere a list of the members who are befriending everyone just to increase their count, or of those whom the old-timers here would adjudge to be not good to have as friends? Inquiring n00bies want to know. Peace!
Not that I've seen. That sounds like a black list, we try to save that for the serious offenders, who, hopefully are kicked out :) You don't need one anyway, anyone who has much more than a hundred friends is obviously not in frequent communication with them, and has probably not even spoken to most of them.ReactReply - MI

I have several hundred acquaintances on my friends list. I turn down more requests than I accept. I have only asked a few people to be my friend, but I accept many. I get about 40 emails a day and while I do get behind on answering them, I do my best to try to keep up with those that write. The only times I don't respond is if someone sends me a rude letter or if their message mysteriously disappears. That happens way too often. I will be the first to admit that I don't hear from most of my "friends" over the long run, but I don't think that's entirely my fault. ...and some of y'all wonder why I refuse to chat. Honestly, I'd never be able to keep up.

OK Lin, you must be the exception to the rule!
ReactReply - MEMemberOct 24, 2009
Thanks for the input. I guess it will be a matter of learning by experience. This is a whole new world for VTY. The political board that I frequent has a "friends" function, but in that arena, one determines who his friends are by noting who hasn't flamed him recently. ;-)
LOL...here, you can tell who are friends when they kiss and make up after flaming! Seriously though, you can see who people are friends with by looking at their profile. But as every one has different interests and personalities and expereinces with each other, their friends lists will be different. We try very hard NOT to blackball members here, unless they are CLEARLY breaking the TOS. There are some, like us, who are cautious when inviting or accepting friends and keep their friends lists short and others who are friends with many, many people. Like Txag...who frequented chat quite often (until the pop-ups and viruses got bad). One of the friendliest people on this site and just about everyone he's met in chat he befriends. Like most things in life, it's a matter of personal choice. As far as seeing a list of who has left...I'm not that interested. If we are truly friends, we get a message from them letting us know why they are leaving and a means to stay in touch. JenReactReply
