  Hadn't thought about it until you mentioned it, as I seldom use it, but I do agree !
  The most useful criteria is now unavailable.

  Actually it is still there. Go to advanced search and pick country (USA) and a box will pop up with zip code as a search parameter.

  the zip code search isn't always accurate. i have tried it a couple times and it would give me profiles of people from the other side of the world. the same state or even the same remote area of the country i can see but somewhere 10,000 miles away?

  I agree...  Excuse me.... but "City" search is too exact to find a friend near you.  Yeah it works for London or New york, but 99% of TN don't live there.

  I too miss this VERY USEFUL tool. I think they could and should implement it back in. Another part of it I used a lot was... It gave the last log in date so you could tell if the user is a active member. If the last log in date was in 2009, you won't waste time trying to contact them to see if you can become friends. I miss this feature.Edit in...I just tried the advance search. It worked well where I am. The parameters I used let me search by last log in date so I checked a few pages in to see how long ago they logged in. Then all before that would be newer. This will work out well for us. I do miss the log in appearing right there with the picture but with all the options it has, what more should I ask for? Good job TT-1
