  When I was at Hippie Hollow, I had the opportunity to talk to a young lady about places to go.  Several of the group I was with offered suggestions about places to go and the issue with most was the cost.  It reinforces what I had mentioned before, there are young nudists around but the membership and fees for nudist resorts keeps a lot of them from going.  They are more likely to go to a nude beach with low or no entrance fees.

  And of course for residents in land-locked states, it's difficult (if not impossible) to make it to nude beaches.

I would feel awkward going to one and being the youngest one there.[/quote]  Part of that is just that when you get to be my age ( hundreds and hundreds of years from now ) you don't give a rat's a$$ what people think of you anymore, and will be far more inclined to doing things you were reluctant to do when you cared what other people think.  You would/will find yourselves welcome, but we'd also understand that you'd feel weird just being so out of your age bracket. Then again, there may be a few there your age. You won't know until you go.

  Today there was a mix of ages ranging from about 20-70 participating in setting the skinni dipping record.  We were all at a county park with a very modest entry fee on Lake Travis.  I was assisting getting the people signed up and had one young man that was with a couple of young ladies comment that the non landed group they were members of had told their members to go to a resort to be counted.  He stated that resorts were not for him, beaches were what he was interested in.  Due to indications that anyone there would not be counted in the record, the turnout was lower than normal but we still had 104 people signed up.

  edit: I just learned that after two visits Rock haven requires, or at least claims to require in their phamplet, that you have to become a member to attend more than twice. This totally bums me out! There are only a few months out of the year that Randy and I can attend Rock Haven, and even then it is only twice a month at most, so the $400 someodd that it costs for a membership would be a complete waste of money because we wouldn't be able to take full advantage of it. I think the private club aspect of nudist camps is what is preventing many young people from attending because it is so darn expensive. Randy and I can usually only do day visits, though we are planning a vacation to Cedar Trails up in Ohio next summer. There goes my tanning plans for this year!

  At issue is younger folks.
  The resorts I've been frequenting lately, one is $30/day ( $15 after 5 ) for either a single, or opposit sex couple, first visit free in any case.
  It's not stated anywhere that I can find, but appears to be clothing optional.
  I know I've seen couples, women especially, remain dressed for a while, until they realize that no one really cares, and start to feel like the odd man out, so it's my nature to invite along to what I believe is a clothing optional resort.
  The other has it clearly posted that it's not optional, but I also don't see it "enforced" by anyone. There, $25/day single or opposit sex couple, second visit free with the internet coupon on weekends, or $15/day weekdays. I'd invite to that one on the same premis.
  The second does much more "fun" stuff, like volleyball, better hiking trails, a sauna, snack bar, and the like.
  Neither requires a membership, but admission is free and unlimited with a membership. In both cases there is a probationary period, and other requirements easily met.
  Grounds fees and memberships are the resorts only source of revenue, so getting broke younger people to cough up the dollars would be the hard part.
  I've recommended free admission to both with a student ID from any school or university, but it's up to a vote of the full membership whether they do or not, so it appears unlikely.
  I might think about this more, and see if they might do something like an "under 30" weekend, since one must present an ID to get in anyway.
  Of course, there'd also have to be more "under 30" kinds of activities that weekend, else it seems a waste of time.
  Shame we seem to be losing some of the younger, vocal, and intelligent members of this site as well, especially women.
  Their input on this matter would be priceless !!

  Is nudism as we knew it-dead?
  It’s very difficult to sell a product that nobody wants.
  Why is it that the nude resorts in the Caribbean are often booked to capacity at $300.00 to $400.00 per night. when nudist clubs offering nominal grounds fees cannot fill their pool chairs. The median age for those resorts is 20 to 25 years younger than the nudist clubs. It’s a very unfair comparison but I think it establishes that nudity is not the issue.
  Using that as a premise, let’s make some comparisons and using our collective minds see if there isn’t some way to level the playing field and attract the younger members.
  1. The resorts are not affordable for many while the clubs can attract a wide cliental. Score a big one for the clubs.
  2. The resorts are generally clothing optional some even requiring clothing in all restaurants except the beach side snack bars.
  3. The resorts offer a nude or CO pool and beach.
  4. The resorts are generally all inclusive offering deluxe accomodations, excellent food, drinks and entertainment,
  allprepaid.
  5. The resorts have a professional entertainment staff of young attractive people, male and female.  Entertainment is somewhat titulating  and fun.It runs most of the day through late night disco.
  6. The resorts are in a climate where year around nudity is comfortable.
  7. The grounds of these resorts are all beautifly landscaped  creating an upscale  ambiance .
  So how can you compete with all this and attract a younger group? They have the ideal climate , beautiful beaches and first class accomodations and activities from morning till night.
  Yes’ you’re right. It’s impossible ,lets just give up, pack our bags and head to one of those resorts in the  Caribbean.
  
  Wait!!  We still have number one on the list
  Assume for the moment that the younger nudist can induced to try a day visit. The question is how can they be induced to return and become members.The following are few ideas, some of which may require some rethinking on the part of club management.
  Spend a few dollars on some flower gardens especially near the entrance to the club to create a welcoming atmosphere.
  Treat all visitors as honored guests during the registration process.
  Make all areas of the Club except the swimming pool clothing optional. That way no one will feel as if they were forced into nudity  A hot day would get them into the pool soon enough.
  Upgrade your food service. The service area should be attractive and sparkling clean. Quality frozen pizzas or even a charcoal grill serving steaks to order on Saturday evening would be a hit with members and visitors alike
  This nudity thing can get boring for young people and for us old people with short attention spans. Create a festive atmosphere around the pool. Music over a loud speaker, even some of that stuff we old farts aren't crazy about. Get one of your more outgoing members on a microphone leading games of Trivial Pursuit and Bingo with food coupons for prizes. Try a poolside dance contest.
  Have a full activities schedual for each weekend day to include volleyball and horseshoe tournaments, poolside games and music. Early evening could include Kareoke or Casino Night followed by an auction using tokens won.
  Use your imagination.
  The important thing is that as they the younger people  leave, they leave feeling that they have had fun and have met some really nice people they would like to have as friends.
  I will address the issue of attracting first time visitors in a later post.

  We're a new couple to the site. And we're a young couple. 20 and 22 right now. But those are going up another year soon. It really is a shame there isn't more young people. Why not?

  Why is that ? Well, me being more than twice your age, my opinions are mere speculation. My experience being 20 is obviously "dated."
  You, being that demographic currently, your opinions are of much more value, methinks.
  What brought you here, and what do you think would appeal to your age bracket ?

  I really cannot understand why more young people are not into it. I mean, we just started because we liked to hang out and home nude. It was comfortable. Got online and looked for places to go. Started going to those places when we can. It's enjoyable. Young people like us like to go to the beach. Seems like a good combination. I really don't understand why more aren't involved. I really can't even give an idea of why. I guess so many in our generation grew up thinking that nudidty was a bad thing. I'll admit, we were both brought up that way. But we developed our own thoughts over time. So I don't know why others don't.

  Welcome sealin, there are singles and couples near your age as well as a mix up to older than me on here.  LOL
  I have noticed that many of the younger crowd tend to go to beaches instead of resorts.  I have invited many that I met at beach to join here, hopefully some will join soon.  You can do a search by state or sort by age to find others near you in age for location.  I have met a lot of great people on here that I have met in person, ranging in age from 23 to 59.  We go to a nude beach near me fairly regularly.  Hopefully you will be able to do the same.

  Spent this past Saturday at White Thorn again.
  Their annual luau. WELL worth it !
  Had a great time teasing the kids. Bocci ball tournament was won by an 11 year old girl. Had fun letting her know she didn't do too bad, for a naked little kid ! She had fun flaunting her first place trophies, so we're even.
  The 4 year old girl that won the limbo contest was very cute. Of course, she had an advantage at her heigth.
  The 15 or 16 year old girl that did the backwards crab walk under the limbo pole got the admiration of the whole park ! Not many of us can even get into that position, let alone move that way.
  The 17 year or so old boy, chasing the 15 year old girl, made some comment asking about whether he'd won one of the contests yet, to which I responded that no, he was still a loser ! Laughs from everyone.
  Still, the two of them make a formidable pair on the volleyball court. WELL above my league.
  The short version I suppose, is to make it fun ! The luau did that for everyone in attendance.
  Evening, and the band started, a couple of over-sized volley balls ( inflatable beach balls about 4 or 5 foot in diameter ) were vollied around the dancers on the sand courts for more than an hour.
  Over-all, a good day.
  Now, is the photo of the 11 year old girl, wearing her "Champion" hat, and proudly holding her "Sports Champion" towel off to the side of her nude body for the photo "child porn" ?
  Is the 15 year old crab-walking somehow perverse, or exhibitionist ?
  I'd say not, but that's me.
  It was a fun day for all, and it clearly showed.
  The adults had fun. The kids had fun. Some so much so that one of the girls, a 10 year old I met at the Bocci tournament, was complaining to her parents about wanting to come back for the Happy Nude Year part scheduled, but being told they had other plans and couldn't make it. That the kids are wanting to come back, to be there, and complaining when they can't, tells me they're doing something right !

  In response to the idea that you can't visit rock haven more than twice without becoming a member.  Really?  We have officially visited twice and thats really jacked up.  I would agree. That will absolutely prevent people with careers from joining.  We can't sit around nude all day and have jobs.  (Most of us anyway).

  i dont think much will help attract the young folks till resorts and thier members can learn to respect all nudists, ,,the single male thing has been an ongoing delema,,,,,but it still comes back to     accepitng ohter nudists .    It seems a lot think the younger generation doesnt hear or see the internal strife,,,,,,,,i think our younger generations are far more atune to such stuff than us...  and when they learn that even some older men are not accepted due to marital  status and gender,   you think them younger lads and men are gonna subject themselves to that ,,,,,,forget it,      fix  the problems of acceptance and  respect and the rest will probably fix itself

  OK .. We're 'oldies' (both in our late 50's).  We started our nude living during the 60's (Hippy era) and have never looked back).I would assume that kids today have the same outlook on life that we did.  They'll embrace the philosophy, but shun everyone outside their age group. Only as they reach a 'certain age' will they seek comfort and friendship in formalised clubs.Until then they will continue to enjoy nudity on their own terms.  At that age you don't need membership cards. Naturism isn't dying..... there's just a generation gap.

  If I may add my own slant:
  Way, way back when I was a young lad... okay, I was in my twenties, but my wife and I were in the process of throwing off a lot of soceity's negativity concerning sex and the body in general, when a flyer came in advertising various types of books, records, videos, etc., some of them G-rated, others clearly at the other end of the spectrum. One of the books offered for sale was World Guide to Nude Beaches and Recreation. Not knowing at all what it was truly about, I ordered it. It was only when the book came in that I became informed of the general naturist stance that nudity should not be confused with sex. As I read through the opening chapters, I realised that I was learning something that mainstream society had yet to discover, and I was, so to speak, converted on the spot.
  What I'm trying to say is that I was still in a period of exploration, discovery and understanding, and was therefore receptive to the book's "Nude is not lewd" message when I finally saw it. So, maybe the trick isn't so much WHETHER to say "it's not sexual," as much as it is WHEN to say it.
  Instead of "Come and vist us! There's nothing sexual going on here!", we should be saying, "Ever wonder what goes on at a nude beach? Why not come and find out?" and let them come to the realisation on their own.
