Vita Nudawas established in 2007 as an organization for young adults interested in nudsm.  We have finally opened up in theMid-Atlanticregion, which includes VA, WV, MD, DC, DE, PA, and NJ.  We are hosting our first event tomorrow, Sunday May 6th, in Rockville, MD.  Our age limit is 30, however if you are a couple and only one of you fits in the age criteria, you are both welcome!

What happens when someone joins and then turns 30?  Are they asked to find a different place with which to affiliate?

There is something fundamentally wrong with this premise. It's fine to target your marketing towards a particular demographic, but to actually exclude those above a certain age is morally wrong, not to mention possibly suicidal business-wise. This almost smells of something else.

If you 'age out' you are still in the group, it is just for initial membership.
What is immoral about it? The whole point of the group is to keep people of the same generation together.  Many young adult nudists go to resorts or events and are turned off because they are the youngest by decades, not because of the view or anything of that nature, but because there is no one who relates to them.
Regarding it being suicidal business-wise, we aren't a business but actually a part of AANR as a way to introduce the nudist lifestyle to a new generation.  Vita Nuda was originally the AANR young ambassadors program.  We have no dues and only charge money for events that cost us.
Regarding smelling of something else, I assume you mean it is something sexual in nature, which is completely inaccurate.  Sexual behavior or even things close to it are prohibited and will cause someone to be kicked out. Although this chapter is new, I have seen it happen at other events.

Good luck with your group, Sandshell!  Even thought I'm 52, I support what you're doing and wish that I had known or there had been groups like this when I was that age.  I think you're doing a great service by creating an organization that brings like-minded and similar individuals together.
You're missing the point. Nudism is struggling enough in these times without excluding people based on their age, or anything else beyond their control. It should be character-based only. Keeping membership open to people of all ages won't limit young people from joining your group, as I said before, market the hell out of attracting them. But to exclude people ONLY because of their age is wrong any way you look at it. It also tarnishes nudism's image overall, giving the un-informed the impression that nudism is indeed only for the young and beautiful.
Say what you will, but the Vita Nuda event in Florida last month had 250 people, about 100 of which were first timers and somewhere in the double digits signed up for AANR on the spot.  Nudism is aging out and a new generation is needed to keep it alive.  I have seen other groups that do exactly what you are talking about and there are always older men creeping around freaking everyone out until eventually it all becomes that cohort and virtually no one who was initially targeted shows up.

there is nothing wrong with having a club or group for younger nudists/naturists. if someone over the age of 30 wants to join a club or group they have endless lists to choose from. it seems that many other clubs and/or orginazations aren't doing much to attract the younger generation to keep nudism alive and prospering so why not the younger generation take it upon themselves.

Isn't nudism about inclusion? That's what I'm constantly reading in so many threads on this forum. The criteria for acceptance into any nudist club, landed or otherwise, is supposed to be people of sound character, not their birthdate. I agree that more young people are needed to keep organized nudism alive and thriving, but this isn't the way to do it. At 54, I suppose I'm one of those "older" men SandShell refers to that creep young ladies out...even though my wife and I were still in our 20's when we visited our first camp. Jaydog, if you think this is a good idea that's fine, but don't bitch if you're denied access to any other nudist camp because you're single. You can't have it both ways.

Being from Washington DC, maybe you could lobby Congress for more liberal Federal laws on nudism. Actually maybe you could recruit the Washington aids, staffers, and interns into your nudist organization. They are the ones who really run things in Washington and they can have a major influence on new laws effecting nudism.

they are two different things. a group for younger people so they can associate with others their own age is one thing, being denied entry because you are single is bordering on discrimination. the singles issue is almost saying that single men are only their to oggle the ladies. if the younger people want to be with older nudists then they can go to a club, if older people want to be around younger people then maybe they should get their club/resort to make it more accepting/friendly towards the younger generation. yes it is about inclusion, but everybody doesn't need to be included 24/7 - 365.

    Seth and Michelle
Good luck to you guys hopefully you can generate the interest that FYN seems to do.  There is nothing wrong with having a group to try to retain younger members.  There are tons of professional societies that do the same thing so it's not just old farts.  While we are not young enough to be in VitNuda anymore, we sometimes put off when the only people at AANR clubs are twice our age!   This not exclusionary as you said since it is just a branch of AANR that is trying to introduce and maintain membership to the younger folks.

Even though I don't live in the Mid-West area, I totally support you guys and your goals.  Us young peeps really don't have a place we can call our own.  It's best to assume that we'll be the minority in any nudist grouping or event.  Not to bash the older gentlemen, but, my definition of fun can't be sitting around hearing about stories of the past all the time.  Generation gap and all that jazz.

And for you who's saying it's wrong to not allow peeps entry due to age, what about the whole "couples only" thing?  Or even worse the whole "couples and single females only" thing?  Can't complain about what 1 group might be conveying with their entry requirements when there's multiple groups suggesting nudism isn't worth it unless they're women involved :P

Couples and single females policies are implemented to prevent an avalanche of single men descending on camps like a swarm of locusts, driving out some of the couples and nearly all the single women. Can you cite for me an age demographic that would have the same effect? I didn't think so. And any single man can always alter his status if he meets the right woman, God willing. Not sure how I can revert back to pre-30 years of age to be welcomed into Vita, but if anyone can tell me how, they're in the will.

ok, a few comments from the peanut gallery.   First, anything that can be done to attact younger people to nudism if fine by me.  With that being said, a few things should be kept in mind, and a slight flaw in shell's logic.  If a member, upon turing 30 is still allowed to be part of the group, would that not " turn off" newer younger members then?  Having a nite, day, or event for young nudists is great, but at the same time, effort should be put in to have that same younger group to do things with us "older' nudists.   Have a few of your " young nudists" only events, but also, make it a point to have that same group go to the nearest resort on some days.    ......We all look great when younger, and we all know that sometimes when were young we have a tendency to laugh at the old folks, thinking we will never be like that.   Thats not a good attitude for any nudist.  We should not judge anyone for body or age.  .......Do I enjoy my time with other my age, you bet, and younger ones are right to feel the same way.  The difference being, i do enjoy talking with and being with older and younger ones.   Both age groups have much to offer, including the history, whats current, and what the future should look like.  We all should hear, and listen to other age groups.   The younger ones, well, they can impart the the attitudes of the younger nudists, which can help make nudism better going forward, the older ones can impart some wisdon of age.  ....so, really, have your events, I think it's awesome, but do make it a point to go to a resort as a group and mingle with the old foggies.  To me, thats a win win, and if you members don't want to ever go where the older ones are, well, you have a serious problem,......Just a few thoughts from the over 30 crowd....
