Aside from skinny dipping as a kid with my family, which I don't know if that counts, my first experience with nudism was when I was hitchhiking across Canada and I met a bunch of hippies out in British Columbia, and we all used to go every day to this awesomely beautiful river for a swim, but of course, being a bunch of travelling hippies, nobody had bathings suits, so we all defacto became a bunch of nudist, haha.
