We all have our own story to tell regarding the origins of our nudist journey. For some, it was the lifestyle in which they were raised. For many who label themselves as nudist it is the designation that they have chosen for themselves independent of their upbringing. Their preference to live as much of their lives without clothes was a conscious choice made based on their personal preference to be nude. My current job requires business casual attire. Today, while ironing my work shirts (naked as usual) I reflected on the duplicitous aspect of this endeavor. I was preparing my attire for the week, a wardrobe that would conform to all modern standards of acceptable dress, yet I was doing so completely nude, because that's how I prefer to live. I suspect my feelings of being disingenuous are the result of my living as a "closet nudist". Other than my wife, I have only shared this aspect of my life with one other person, a friend who also happens to be a nudist. Having just used the term "closet nudist" makes me think, isn't a closet were clothes are kept? That being so, "nudists" and "closets" should be worlds apart. I have only recently begun my journey on the path to nudism. As I become more comfortable and gain self-confidence I am sure I will be more open about the freedom that I find associated with it and how much I enjoy being naked. Until then, I will continue to wear what conforms to our societal standards, inform others on a need to know basis, and shed my clothes and inhibitions whenever possible.
