Activity (or lack of it!) in groups on TN

I belong to a number of groups here both to indicate what I like doing but also to interact with people having similar interests. The response rate to postings is disappointing and in many of the groups I have seen postings which remark that the group is not very active. What is missing from this site is the facility to receive a message or e-mail when there is a new posting in a group to allow you to follow a string (this used to happen in Skinbook and happens on other sites I belong to). We would also need the facility to switch off notifications of new postings in a group to prevent "information overload" and full inboxes - just a thought for TN webmasters and site owners.
