so i don't use the chat room, mostly because for everyone being so adamant about no sexual chat in the main room i get plenty of it in private chat. It's a two-sided hypocrisy I really think should just be done with. Either turn the chat room into something that would rival the Victorian Ages or let it go, but don't talk out of both sides of your mouth. However, I decided to go in just now and see what was up. I wasn't actively looking to speak, I personally could give two shits if the general population likes what I have to say, and unlike the forums there's no permanence of words to even have a reason to say it. It's there one minute, then quickly gone the next with no real record of it, so why bother. But, I wanted to go in and see if anyone was worth sending a PM to. Now, when I go looking for people to PM, I look for webcammers first, and everyone else second, and only everyone else if there's few enough people in there I find it a necessity to message everyone else. Also, I typically don't have to send out much of a hello to get some private chat messages. IDK why, but for some reason people like to talk to me, go figure. Anyway, as I'm looking through webcams seeing who is online and whatnot I get a couple of those pop up PM's saying hey and what not, and I'm responding. All of a sudden I get a notification that snugglebunny has "muted" me in the chat room, with some further explanation of how I must have said something offensive. Whatever, I go on, to find that all my chat function in the room has been disabled. Basically, I could broadcast my webcam in there but not chat. Now, I've not been in there more than ten minutes, and not a word was said in the main chat room, I have all my chats up still. I know EXACTLY what I've said the entire time I've been in there. Not a word was spoken that had any kind of sexual intent, nor anything about other websites or anything else one could filter as spam. I assume the moderators can look at private chats, because that's the only way they could possibly know to "mute" me when I've said nothing, and I mean not a single line of text, in the main room. As a matter of fact, not only have I said nothing that goes against the rules, I've actually volleyed away comments that went against the rules like one user I was speaking to asking me if I wanted him to stand up on cam. So a couple of things might be happening with this moment. One of them is that my private chats are being monitored. If this is the case then I am a little irritated, why call a chat a private chat if it is not, in fact, private? If my private chats are not, in fact, being monitored, then it means that I was muted in the chat room for no reason other than I had been in there for about ten minutes and hadn't said anything in the main chat yet. If either of these are the case, then I have probably entered that chat room for the last time. Even if these are not the case, save an accidental push of a button, my being muted in the chatroom is clearly some kind of personal vendetta. I once asked the owner of a social networking site geared toward gay and bisexual men why he didn't assign moderators to his website. His answer was that he'd seen them become nothing but mini-dictators wielding borrowed "powers" to wage personal wars instead of to enforce the rules of the website. Now, I don't know what I've done to snugglebunny, but I do know that I haven't done anything to violate the rules of this site... ever. I've seen a lot of talk about how people are unhappy with snugglebunny as a moderator, and personally I don't really care enough to make a big deal about it... but I can't help but feel sorry for them. Apparently they have so little in their lives that they can only find enjoyment by harassing others. My advice for others is simple, if you're really bothered by snugglebunny, the best way you can show them is to go out and live your life anyway. The internet might be time consuming, but it's still basically idle entertainment. Go out and live your life like it's nothing, because it is. Oh and complain enough that your voice is heard, there has to be some kind of owner activity on this site, because I'm getting news about testing out a BETA version of the upgrades they've been working on. It means they're watching, and that they can revoke whatever rights snugglebunny has been given. Complain a little to the powers that be, then go out and ride your bike or something. The only thing they can do is remove you from a chatroom. Boo, freaking, hoo. I'm only complaining because I think it's sad, sad and pathetic. But... *takes a look around*, nope, my world hasn't shifted in anyway, guess that means life will go on.
