Thoughts on Hiking 100 Naked Miles (Part 2)

One of the best hikes was a 1.5-mile stroll through a sub-alpine valley with nothing but my Five Fingers shoes and my wife on the eclipse day. This took more than a couple of hours and involved identifying flowers and mushrooms, and eating berries. This was followed by a dip in a stream, and some naked yoga in the middle of the adjacent meadow. This 1.5 miles was the most enjoyable and spiritual of the whole quest, and it got me thinking that maybe I had missed the boat on this goal thing. During the first week of September, I attempted to wrap up the 100 miles at Valley View where I started, but I fell a half mile short, wanting to spend time in the hot springs before I had to head out. Doing the 99.5 miles was fun, but the focus on distance stole from the experience of being naked in nature. I fancy myself as a naturist, and define that as using nudity as a way to be closer and more connected with nature by shedding as many unnatural coverings as I can, by being sky clad. The 100-mile goal was a nudist goal. When I was out, it was pretty much just hiking, can I get another mile before I must turn around to get back to the car in time, can I push my thinly clad feet another mile, and can I go any longer without getting sunburned in those places I missed with sunscreen; I was mostly hiking above 9,000 feet in pretty intense sun. My skin is tanned; however, there is always some place that gets sunburn if I stay out a long time. With all of that, there just wasnt much time for connecting with nature, which for me is really the point of getting naked in the wilderness. I was missing the whole point of why I started hiking naked to begin with. How am I going to finish it off? I dont know yet. Next year if I set a goal, and that is a big if, it would be for hours naked in nature so I could take my time and explore, connect with nature, do yoga in a lush flower-filled meadow, sunbathe on a rock overlooking a valley, relax and read against a tree next to a tumbling stream, and generally enjoy and connect with nature the way it should be done - naked. Ill do all that stuff next year anyway, whenever I have a chance, so no goal is really needed. I would love to hear from you if you have a thought on how I should finish off the last half mile. (Because there seems to be a limit of about 750 words that will show up, I posted this in 2 parts).
