Where the Day Softens

The day in Key West doesnt end. It simply changes its clothes. First the sun leans low over the water, painting the Gulf in slow strokes of coral and gold. Palm fronds catch the last light and hold it like secrets theyre not ready to give away. Somewhere a rooster still believes its morning, and the breeze carries the soft clink of ice in glasses from porches that never learned how to rush. I walk the old streets as the sky turns violet, past pastel houses that look like they were dreamed rather than built. The ocean stays close, breathing against the shore, reminding me that some places dont ask you to become anyone new they simply make room for the person you already are. Out here the air tastes of salt and possibility. Time loosens its grip. Even the shadows feel kinder. If these words found you tonight, if some quiet part of you is craving that same soft light, Id love to know where youre reading from. Tell me what the sky looks like where you are or just say hello. Im right here under the same wide, gentle sky.
