Seeking your top 3 reasons for being nude! Stated this way, there is ample latitude for input.
1. There is a certain freedom about being free from clothing. I enjoy that feeling.
2. I've found that being in a social setting, with nude others, enhances the enjoyment of the social setting.
3. I love the feeling of sun and warmth on my skin. The more exposed skin, more the enjoyment.
Please add your input and I'll moderate the discussion.

After weeks of comments, I am going to add some more to my list of "Paybacks" for being a nudist:
4. The pleasure of having my wife join me in the naked life.
5. There is a sense of pleasure and self confirmation in breaking a societal taboo.
6. I enjoy seeing a naked woman's body, regardless of shape, etc, and applaud her sense of self confidence.
And, might as well put it in here, there's no thrill or payback for being seen. A 70 year old, average old guy is nothing to put on display,

Dancin' Dan (prone to dance)Original PosterMar 18, 2018and "hi" back to you Lee,
here's my take on our human conditions that you point out.
Since all humans are born within the culture of their birth place and time, we have to deal with that the rest of our lives.
We are raised by parents who pass on the values and norms of their/our society. In our youth, most of us seem to challenge the "that's the way we do it around here" constraints we are wrapped in.
As we get older and realize we have to live and work and exist in our given framework, so we try to find a self satisfying balance.
After we retire, and are no longer leashed to that paycheck and the rules that come with it, we can decide to be the person we want to be the rest of our lives with a greater sense of freedom.
Somewhere along the path of life we heard about "Nudists" and now we've decided to join 'em and soak in the freedoms that come with it. But that decision comes with the baggage of our earlier life.
All this reminds me of a book that was very useful to me. The Seasons of a Man's Life by Daniel Levinson. I highly recommend it to you. I found used ones on Amazon for 3.50$ . There were 3 follow-on books about "Passages" by Gil Sheehy. I think she was the grad assistant to Levinson. I also read Passages.

Dancin' Dan (prone to dance)Original PosterMar 18, 2018thank you andy for sharing your story of how you discovered your essential nature - living naked.
for you, it's in the genes and always has been.
since I am looking for 3 nuggets to share with fellow TN members, I read your historical comments searching for them. I hope you don't mind that I've extracted them for placement here as a summary.
1) Living naked is the driving force that pulls at us in our daily/hourly life. It's our normal way of life and has been for almost 45 years.
2) Therefore, we live naked, we socialize naked and we have found/created a circle of long time naked friends to share our life and activities with.
Along the way I was glad to find out that I was not alone in my preferences for being naked
3) And most importantly, I found a soulmate for my need to be naked who enjoys #1& #2 as much as I do.
THANK YOU DI!ReactReply - DD

Dancin' Dan (prone to dance)Original PosterMar 22, 2018hi all,
thx for contributing to this discussion thread.
you may remember or read my early blog on "Things My Wife has Said to Me".
I wrote this because, I started this naked thing and she has followed along.it's time to update the blog and add one new thing she has said. she did this in response to my verbal question:
"why are you a nudist now and what do you get out of this?"she replied: "it's something you want to do and I want to do it because you are and I want to be you."
I am reminded of the many times I have heard that over my 50+ yrs of married life. Let me remind you, guys, marriage is a two-way street!
Please be as willing to say the same thing to your wife as they are willing to say it to you!ReactReply - RT
Reuben TitusMar 23, 2018Besides all the normal personal reasons. Enjoy sunshine and fresh air all over. I like to say I rebel against the pornographation of our bodies by going nude in common life.
I think God has to be disgusted with the way we've turned His creation into something lewd.
But I think I have no desire to be seen. I'm just trying to kick aside the reluctance to be seen that has been a problem I didn't recognize as a problem. I was super shy from early as memory goes back, and always had a tendency to hide even when clothed. Unclothed was impossible. Until I decided that feeling was something bad and I needed to get rid of it. So it's gone at least when around others who accept it as normal.

McdcvsMar 23, 2018Interesting Dan, my wife told me while we were sitting in the hot tub alone at the club that she still sees nudity as sexual and nasty. She does it because she knows I like it. I think the dance may have changed her mind a bit.

Dancin' Dan (prone to dance)Original PosterMar 23, 2018thank your wife often for being willing to go outside her own comfort zone to be you in your new/bigger one. she is a precious one!
Nudity is a state of mind. Sexuality/Sensuality is an activity. They may be kept completely separated or finds some areas of blending.
For us, our nude club is enjoyed with a small group of older than us, like-minded people who are open, accepting, and trusting. many who are always clothed since it IS a C/O club, except in the hot tub.
We are even newer to home nudity. It's an after-effect of the 1st. That has lead to an increased level of sexuality. And we are enjoying that too.

samMar 24, 2018The one thing that being a nudist does for me is that it makes me be completely honest and I can't hide anything from my friends. It opens the true me and I love to share that with my friends

mr. billMar 24, 2018FREEDOM, EXCEPTENCE, and being 1 with nature. The smiles on others faces when greeted ! "See me" as God created. Shapes and size are God's sense of humor! Enjoy with my wife and loving her for times with others w/o sexualizing it. Helping others to see how relaxing can be w/o cloth. No cost to drop cloth and smile. The only difficult part is when leaving to put cloth back on !
Less costs for laundry and pack less when visiting others that are nudes !
Folks are friendlier and "down to earth"
Allows us to be happier and sense the change of season to enjoy outside! Doing chores nude seems less like work :o)ReactReply - GE
George_in_WVMar 24, 2018My first nudist experience was in 1994 when I found out about a nudist resort where I could go skinny-dipping like I used to at the YMCA before it went co-ed and discontinued the nude swims for males
It was there I found out that being nude was not constrained to being inside in front of other males in locker rooms but outside in mixed company enjoying the feeling of warm fresh air all over my naked body.
Being nude in front of other people is not something to be ashamed of or embarrassed about
I enjoy the comfort of being nude so much that I joined a number of nudist organizations, went to a number of nudist events and have been on nude cruises
Being nude gives me a feeling of liberation and has greatly increased my self-confidence
I am now so captivated by it that I now live in a clothing optional community where I can enjoy the feeling of being clothing free almost all of the time. The average person spends more time dressed in one day than I do in a month

flyhigh2609Apr 2, 2018so many good reasons have already been posted. Let me add one thing: Nudism is a great way to stay away from burnout and being exhausted. I really have this often in mind when I hear stories of friends and colleagues about this and always say to may self: they all should join the nude mouvement and we wont have such troubles anymore. Nudism is a perfect way to have a good work-life-balance.

Reuben TitusApr 8, 2018I mentioned rebellion against the pornographic conception of our bodies. But that's just a small part. The more I think about the garden of eden and it's various elements, the more I realize what a perfect plan that was. The nude life of garden tending and eating what grew right off the plants, the sunshine exposure, playing with the animals, skinny dippin in the rivers, a real tropical paradise it was.
All Christians profess to love Jesus and want to have what He promised, eternal life, restoration to the lost paradise. But that was a naturist gardeners lifestyle. So why are they so against naturism now? They just aren't thinking clearly, the devil has them tricked into denying the lifestyle that God gave us as a perfect gift in the beginning. Tricked into thinking that retaining the shame of sin in nudity is an asset rather than a detriment. The apostle wrote "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus" That means no shame. Why do they insist on hanging onto the shame then? I want what Jesus promised in all it's aspects, the lifestyle, the diet, even the nude gardening aspect, so I'm going to do my best to reproduce what little I can of it now. And in order to spend as much time as possible in such a lifestyle I will have to figure out how to make a livin at it. Logically grow enough food to sell extra beyond what I need to eat.I find it very much more comfortable to work naked when it gets warm, I can keep working longer, and it's easier to cool off, just douse with cool water and go back to work, no soggy shorts. But that's just a little bit of it as well. I will work naked even when it's too chilly to need to, as long as I keep warm enough. Just because it feels better than the brush of fabric against the skin, it just feels good to be free of all covering. No real reason why it feels better, and a lot of people never tried it, or their preconceived opinions override any benefits. When it's too cold to work naked I reluctantly stay dressed up in fabric, wishing I didn't have to. Although I still have a background nagging feeling of being scared to be seen naked by someone not compatible with it, wish I could get rid of that feeling, maybe it will keep dwindling, it's already partly subdued. I don't know where the balance is between respecting their wishes to not see nakedness and my reluctance to be seen, versus the need to get rid of the reluctance. I don't think I will push the issue. Just work naked in isolation and there will be visitors coming into my space on occasion I'm sure, that may be enough. I don't need to invade their space while bucking the clothing tradition even though there's a lot of crossover between their space and mine.

flsmoothieApr 8, 2018Like most of you, agree with most of the reasons given by other posters as to why theyre a nudist. Nonetheless, here are my top three reasons in order of importance:
0. Privileged to have been born with the nudism gene, inherited from my dad. There are two kinds of nudists, born and made. A born nudist can repress their nudism, but cannot make it go away. May as well embrace it and enjoy all its benefits. (As a software developer I get to start lists with zero. A programmers inside joke.)
1. Better connected to my surroundings, which makes me feel more alive. When my entire body is experiencing the environment as a whole it feels different and better than when wearing clothing. (At some point in their lives, many people walk barefoot in the sand, skinny-dip, or sleep nude in order to experience this phenomenon. Yet, they dont take it to the next level and spend more time enjoying the sensual connections to their surroundings.)
2. Enhanced physical and psychological freedom, which makes me happier to be alive. Youth was following rules and not rocking the boat; go to school, wear the uniform of my peers, dont make mom mad. College was much of the same; go to class, wear the uniform of college students, work during summer and semester breaks. Career was restrictive in different ways; get and keep a good job, wear the uniform of white collar professionals, become a indebted homeowner. Being nude is my way to rebel against all the social expectations and constraints heaped upon us.
3. Greater enjoyment of work, tasks, and chores; which makes each more fun. Working from home has allowed me to work nude whenever the mood moves me, which is most of the time. It is far more comfortable and convenient. Tasks such as cooking or painting a room are more enjoyable when done nude. Chores like cleaning, doing laundry (it happens), and ironing arent such a chore when done nude.ReactReply - DD

MaryanneApr 13, 2018
Our close friend that is in dire need of nudism but will NEVER even think about it, is always angry about something and unhappy about something. Those somethings never change and continue to bother him and we joke about it but if he took up nudism, he'd find that there's a calming affect that keeps you grounded and helps you appreciate those things that are really important in life.
True, true, true. Introduced a neighbor woman across the street to nudism after multiple coffee visits be her in the mornings. I always wore a robe and she would start asking questions about it. I told her of our lifestyle and how it makes us feel and works in our married life. She gradually started to try it. She also found that she was more relaxed and cool. Her husband loves it because he has a naked wife and that makes him also more relaxed. They were never mad or angry with life, but this has made them much happier. Plus, she confided with me that their sex life has gotten spicier as well.ReactReply - DD
