Seeking your top 3 reasons for being nude! Stated this way, there is ample latitude for input.
1. There is a certain freedom about being free from clothing. I enjoy that feeling.
2. I've found that being in a social setting, with nude others, enhances the enjoyment of the social setting.
3. I love the feeling of sun and warmth on my skin. The more exposed skin, more the enjoyment.
Please add your input and I'll moderate the discussion.

After weeks of comments, I am going to add some more to my list of "Paybacks" for being a nudist:
4. The pleasure of having my wife join me in the naked life.
5. There is a sense of pleasure and self confirmation in breaking a societal taboo.
6. I enjoy seeing a naked woman's body, regardless of shape, etc, and applaud her sense of self confidence.
And, might as well put it in here, there's no thrill or payback for being seen. A 70 year old, average old guy is nothing to put on display,
thank you to all who have contributed to the discussion!

RickApr 13, 2018After reading all the responses, I felt compelled to add my 2 cents worth. I couldnt agree more with the comment of sharing being a nudist with my wife. But something I didnt see, and I could have missed it, was the self confidence Ive gained, has actually helped me loose weight. Not being concerned about how everyone else sees me, has helped me to hate myself for bad eating decisions am love myself more. Ive stopped beating myself up, and work out more and am eating better. My wife has noticed the same thing as well. Its just another thing that we get to share and grow together with instead of growing apart. Also, I Love my wife, and seeing her natural/naked is part of her beauty. With our work schedules, I maybe get 20 minutes a week day of naked time with her. And I am not talking in a sexual or divinat way, just looking at another person you love, with nothing hiding how beautiful they are. Being a nudist with my wife helps us to be more open and gives us another platform on which to build our life together. (Ill now be surrendering my man card! LOL)

Dancin' Dan (prone to dance)Original PosterApr 13, 2018Way to go cactus couple!!,
you also chimed in with others who have said, being naked with our wives more, just adds greater enjoyment and togetherness in our marriage.
as some have hinted at, and I will say outright, we are making love more often, as a side benefit.
and, as many have said, nudity is not sexual, it is a state of mine. but it does ad spice to life and marriage too.ReactReply - SI
Simon-newApr 14, 2018As for me, being a Christian. I think i am drawn to nudist behavior out of wondering what life would have really be like if Adam & Eve obeyed God and didn't bite the apple. Would we all be living life as wr know it now, only to use clothing only as a tool as we need to in some professions. Like firefighters. I do think many people are way too prudish and need to grow up some. If we can look at every animal without clothes. And we all see dogs ant cats doing everything naked including peeing and pooping. Humping and sleeping, sometimes even many times in a big group together. We don't automatically think they are having orgies. And dogs even stick their noses in butts and smell them.
Over the last few years exploring nudity i have enjoyed the excapement for the daily norms of life. In stressful times when i have time to strip down, or even look at so many other nudists in pictures having fun moments without clothes. It kindof like a mini ME vacation.
My biggest hangup with thinking of everyone being naked all the time, is seeing others hygen habits. I currently work with some very big fat slobs. That would make me cringe to be naked with. I have noticed people that don't shower or bathe so often and you look down at their feet and you can see the dark in between their toes.
I have often thought it would be great if there would be nude Churcjes, plane flights, and restaurants. But, the first thing I would require everyone to do is run through a shower before, worshiping, flying, or eating.
Sorry for rambling on.

MarkMay 7, 2018I don't know that there is an actual list that I could convey. Perhaps the scope of my mind is too limited to come up with enough reasons, but for me the answer would be:
1. Freedom
Freedom from societal stereotypes. Freedom from the confines of clothing. Freedom to feel the air and sun on my body.ReactReply - MI

TimApr 8, 2024The streaking back in the 70's got me started. That turned into long runs for x-country and track through the fields and feeling the breeze dry my body. All my friends would be dressed long before me. Later it turned into putting my stress on a shelf for a while when military/civilian jobs took their toll on my peace of mind. Now, 50 years later, it lowers my BP (I have hooked myself up and checked) and signals that all is right in my world.
Best I've ever heard it described is "barefoot all over".

it makes me feel free, ever since the wife and I went to Lake Powell ,everybody decided to stay nude.as much as possible, sleeping nude ,getting up in morning and going for a swim.It just felt so good with the sun and water on your whole body. we were there for 10 days.and it has continued since.we are at home nudists and when we go camping, swimming in the river or Lakeland soaking in hot springs. we just feel so much better.and the other positive about having no tan lines.

chitownnudistApr 9, 20241. I'm just more comfortable overall, it's easier to move around and feeling my environment just feels better.
2. It's more convenient, when I doing something that makes me sweaty it's less noticeable naked versus clothed. It's also a lot easier to clean up after.
3. Socially I enjoy a sense of equality for lack of a better term. I don't feel like I need to pretend to be something I'm not and I don't get that impression from others.ReactReply - HH
HghySjoerdh hMay 2, 2024There are many reasons to be naked.
I sleep naked, so in the morning I am already naked. I only putt some clothes on when I go out working or shopping.
When the temperatures are high enough I don't wear anything in my garden. I love to do gardening naked or sunbathing naked.

EarlDMay 5, 2024Two different intentions. In my clothes free life I prefer the freedom and comfort of not wearing clothing. In terms of social nudity sharing experiences and connections with other who share reason number one.

Why exactly am I a naturist?
1) For one, It feels less uncomfortable than wearing clothes in certain conditions.
2) Two, it really is a good way to learn that all bodies have equality, despite several big differences.
3) Three, it really shows that there is deep commoness to all humanity, both mentally and in our bodies.
4) Four, it really shows there is a way to live in harmony with nature, and that is to do accept man's fate as an animal, but as a special animal.
5) Five, it creates harmony with the environment in not having to deal with pesky clothes, so we don't do as much environmental damage.
6) Six, it brings us closer to the Higher Power, by us not wearing clothes similar to how the higher power doesn't wear clothes either. (Every religion preaches this or preaches higher power is invisible)
7) Seven, It Proves Higher power can be closer to the humans than we think.
8) Brings us good sunlight to use and enjoy instead of hiding it or being heated extra by clothes absorbing it through dark pigmenting of clothes.
9) Nine, it takes away extreme pain and suffering. gives us healing
10) Creates special bonds with people with whom we share harmony and peace and naturism with.
BONUS:
11) Christians were made this way according to their bible, and will end this way according to the bible "From dust you were made and to dust you will return." That puts another case for the christians forward despite other claims by christians being dismissed.

He worked from home most of the time, but when he retired he got more involved in community activities and spent more time working in his yard which was open to busy roads on 2 sides, so he had to be dressed more often.ReactReply - STStephenMar 22, 2025
There are a few reasons I am a nudist.
1. I have always felt uncomfortable wearing anything. I was constantly pulling at my clothes try to get it in a comfortable position but never could. So comfort is a big reason.
2. As I matured I found that when wearing anything made me hot after just a short time. It got worse as I got older. To the point I have had heat stroke numerous times, in a bad way at least 3 times. So this is my main reason.
3. I hate heat rashes, and I get them summer or winter, basically anytime I wear clothes.
The things I get out of it. Too many to mention all of them but here are a few.
1. The feeling of the sun and wind on my skin
2. Being able to be comfortable in my own skin.
3. I feel I'm doing my part of reducing pollution by not buying any clothes for a number of years now. By not using water, chemicals and power resources to wash clothes.
4. Being out in nature while nude is a feeling that is almost indescribable, I would have it no other way if I could.
5. Being nude is emotionally uplifting and freeing.ReactReply - MEMemberMar 23, 2025
I'm going to make this real simple; I just enjoy the feeling of being nude when possible. Nothing too complicated about that.
ReactReply - NUnudie_yo1578Mar 23, 2025
It just feels more natural to me. I really dislike the fact that society seems to shun the human body even when it's way more practical to be naked (e.g. you have to go off to a separate changing room just to change clothes before sports).
I haven't spent much time naked outside but when I have it's just been absolutely lovely to feel the sun and the wind on my skin! It's such a shame this isn't widely accepted, but I hope that promoting naturism helps make it more normalised.

PaulAug 29, 2025I am not a nudist. I am a person. Some people may consider me a naturalist in a broader sense. I see my self that way.
I wear clothes because they are useful. I am nude when it is useful or pleasant. I enjoy watching people nude or clothed. I appreciate the art of fashion and the beauty of people's bodies. I like to study peoples bodies as they grow and age. It is part of studying people that I enjoy. I have to be careful. I have been accused of being creepy. I don't think that I am. People miss understand.
Being nude on a warm sunny day in Wisconsin feels good. Clothes are not necessary for swimming and sunbathing. Clothes are necessary in most public places of course, but in isolated places clothes may not be necessary. One of my favorite places to spend time nude is on sandy banks and sand bars on the lower Wisconsin river. Canoeing swimming and hiking nude there are wounder full experiences.
Unfortunately there are other very vocal people who feel they have the right to control other peoples lives. One unimproved beach where people gathered to socialize on the river was shut down.
Those of you who spend a lot of time warm climates may not think about clothes being necessary on cold days which are frequent in Wisconsin. A few weeks in July and early August are warm enough outdoor nude experiences.
Wisconsin forest harbor large swarms of biting insects. Plants rubbing on bare skin cause itching and blisters.
So, naked places and seasons in Wisconsin are limited. My wife and I did explore nudity when we were younger. I felt liberated and enjoyed our naked bodies. My wife always seemed to feel uncomfortable. We stopped experimenting. I prefer to experience life with my wife.
As I get older I regret having missed out on some life experiences, but remember with great pleasure my life experiences with my wife.
Now I am considering meeting others solo, but I am slow to make new friends and worry about alienating my wife. The warm Wisconsin summer is over. Naturalist and sexually free campgrounds in Wisconsin are shutting down for the winter. I have procrastinated too long.
Perhaps I can meet some other people in a similar situations. Next summer may offer new opportunity for both me and my wife.

GrahamAug 31, 2025I am a nudist because, it always felt the right way to be. Many years ago at school or public pools you were sort of in position where you had to wear a bathing costume of some kind, then to put it on or take it off to change your clothes, i always felt a little disturbed towards why are we hiding, yet in the changing room it seems everyone was happier to wander around nude. When I first went to a nude beach I felt that over whelming freedom, which is a feeling most of us find hard to describe to a finer point. I went for a swim no Togs (bathing Costume) it felt good to have the sea water around my nude body, I was enjoying the swim more and when I got out just went laid down on a towel let the sun dry me off naturally, once again another wonderful feeling. I would be completely naked people would come past and say hello as they did so, it seemed to be a lot friendlier of an experience. Then I realized there are not just nude or clothing optional beaches, you could actually go walking in the bush nude and with a camera to get pics of nature, one again another healthy glorious feeling, like as if you had been set free from some kind of cage. I did try getting into a few clubs back then, That was the days when they seem to think all single males were up to no good and so it was such a hassle to join up. These days you go to a place three or four times and they consider you a member. Goodness me how things have changed. I use to go to a Hot pool evening every last Saturday of the month, which was really good for meeting other like minded people, then I tried to get the Mrs to go along just so she could see what was involved and there were no strange goings on. She was quite surprised it wasn't what she expected it also wasn't her cup of tea. So apart from at home, i generally have to wait till i can get a day off and then either go to a nude beach or go in the bush camera and back pack and do a little adventure, i find it very relaxing and peaceful. Lets face it though it is not for everyone although it should be.
