Still confused about the details. Supposedly this woman rammed a barricade, but pictures of her car afterwards show a front end in pristine condition. Did she ram it in reverse?

    If you have been convicted of a violent crime, if you are a habitual drug offender, if you suffer with certain mental illnesses, if you are a 'anti-gun' Democrat like Feinstein, then you are not permitted to own or possess a weapon.
    If you do so illegally, then you go to prison for five years.
    If you do so during the commission of a crime, then your prison term beyond the other crime is an additional twenty five years.

    A while back we had a "lively" discussion on gun control and the 2nd amendment. Why are we going over these issues again? Has anything changed?

    I thought the problem was solved on December 15, 1791. That is the date the Bill of Rights was ratified.

    Slave states also had laws that prohibited blacks from owning or using guns. Why was that? They knew that an armed slave was no longer a slave. The reason the founders of this Nation provided for the ownership of guns by the populace was because they knew that unarmed citizens would be at the mercy of a tyrannical government.

    It is human nature that those in power will seek to increase their power in all ways possible. That innate desire is offset by the checks and balances provided by our Constitution. One of those checks is the second amendment.

    But, Soupie; the positions of those who oppose the Second Amendment leaves out civilizing factors in society and assumes people are basically neanderthals. That law abiding citizens are not responsible-shall we say not evolved sufficiently-to be trusted with firearms. It assumes that only those in power-those who are subject to the temptation of corruption-should be trusted with firearms.
