Have any of you 'come out' as a nudist at work? Like, just to let people know of your interest in it -- not that they need to see any of it of course!
Once in a great while my work will have a fun "trivia night" about ourselves or a "two lies and one truth" game where we submit interesting, surprising or hard to guess facts about ourselves. Sometimes I wonder about submitting that I'm a nudist - it would definitely fit the 'surprising' criteria for the game! My workplace skews younger and liberal (20's-30's average age) and I'd be comfortable with my extended team at least knowing about that, but not sure if that'd be something best kept to myself. Thoughts?

Interesting! I guess you might want to talk with the HR / management to make certain this disclosure was acceptible so that the whole thing doesn't blow up in your face. I remember it is the kind of thing that could have been admitted to at a place I worked two decades ago, but that was tame compared to anything they talked about. And at that time John Ashcroft the then-head of the justice department was covering over the topless statues at the justice department.
I wonder how this works outside the office, as well. I mean, even if it was somehow construed as "harassment", if its outside the workplace, does that carry over.
Honestly, it is tame stuff and not your fault people have filthy minds and are lawsuit happy....

that Hedonism II was clothing optional while he was down there and came back and told some coworkers where I had been. I decided to not deny it and made no apology for enjoying a bare ass week. Another time I was taking a day off and my boss just casually asked what I was doing. I decided to tell him the truth, i was spending the day and night at Turtle Lake Nudist resort and he responded " Good for you"
There was one coworker who seemed a bit uncomfy ( a guy) if I mentioned going to a nudist thing. But other than that, coworkers took it in stride. It never was a negativeReactReply - MI

dennisJul 11, 2022Ar my past work the shop knew I went to blacks beach. Not a problem. Just fact. The odd comment was when it rained heavy during a tow job. I got drenched like bucket tosses. Took a rider to the destination. While disconnecting more buckets of rain came. Redrenched. Needed a snack fron the store across the road. After I was back in the truck I got totally uncovered and rode back. Related the story to the shop the next day. The dispatcher asked, "you drove back naked?" I asked her if she did when she was in Alabama on beach trips. Not a great answer. I did tell them I had shorts with me.

Not a chance in our situation working in the public eye as it would be detrimental for business to start with. Many must be discrete or there jobs, positions could be in peril not to mention religious reasons. One can be a nudist without blasting it out to there community.

Stone AndyJul 12, 2022As a single dad who's spent most of my career working for foreign government trade offices, I've been discreet about the label "nudism." Nor do I use it to describe myself even on this forum. Since nudism generally considers discrimination an acceptable practice (at least at local private resorts banning single men), I'd rather be a "pants casualist." I find it easier to just consider nudity another form of dress. It's generally acceptable to be casual in regards to wearing pants in the shower or bathtub. I prefer to extend that thinking further with phrases like "not working on my tan line," "forget about getting dressed," "enjoy wearing the sun and wind," "nothing to hide that I'm a middle aged dude" or "letting the sun shine where the sun don't shine."

BrianJul 12, 2022I've never actually told any of them, it just seems an odd thing to bring up, what are they supposed to do with that information? Although if the topic ever did arise I wouldn't have a problem about saying I was a naturist, I don't know if they know or not, they know I'm certainly not a prude about nudity, on occasions where we've had to work away and ended up having to share a room, I still sleep naked, they must have noticed I don't wear underwear, and I can't be bothered trying to do that silly thing of trying to put your trousers on with a towel still wrapped around you!! In my experience also once they see you're not bothered they don't bother trying to hide they just act normally as you would at home,
Once the boss came round to my house to drop something off ( I didn't know he was coming), my back door was open as it was summer and I was in and out of the garden, he just walked in, and of course I was naked as is usual at home,
I will just pick up on one point in the previous post which I agree with, the label, either naturist or nudist, in most people's mind they misconstrue that as" getting naked", rather than just not getting dressed, the outcome is the same but the perception is different
id prefere to say i go home and get comfortable, rather than get naked, cos thats what most people do, and i know im generalising, but the masses of the textile world do exactly the same thing, they get in from work and change int what they feel comfortable in when relaxing of an evening, which is exactly what i do, the only difference is what i feel most comfortable in is ..nothing..ReactReply - MEMemberJul 13, 2022

Thanks for the replies everyone! It was nice hearing the thoughts and stories shared on here.
I've decided I probably shouldn't announce it at a company-wide event - it should be more discretionary with small numbers of coworkers I trust the most. I feel too that nudism should just be a choice of wardrobe - some people wear slacks and a pink shirt, one should be able to wear nothing but the sky, but not everyone sees it that way.
I see it like: this is a rather large part of who I am, in the way someone else might really be into music and have a YouTube channel they're proud of, and it feels lonely sometimes that the vast majority of my "real world" contacts don't/can't know about my nudism. I'd like if I could weaken those boundaries somehow - not to be weird about it at all, but just to get it out there, and maybe find out some of my acquaintances are also secret nudists and we could have a shared interest to bond over.

I think that is very prudent. It's too bad that you can't say "I am a nudist...." like you can say, "I am a flyfisher" or "I am a yachtsman", but that's what we have to deal with most places. I remember a job I had where I could tell people I was one, but I wasn't at the time, and if I did, it would have been as friends and totally unrelated to and outside work. If they are really your friends, you probably know and can tell them something without freaking them out. But there may be people in the office you don't know as well as you might think, and that might somehow cross a line.....kind of funny because you are just sharing a part of yourself, and they might taking it as forcing the image of you naked on them, and their mind running wild. But of course in today's litigation-insane USA, their filthy imagination would not be at fault but likely you for being honest and telling them what you do in your free time.
Kind of related to this, it's hotter than hell here, and even in air conditioning I just want to be nude. Not because of being a nudist but that is the only thing that is remotely comfortable. But if I went outside in my own fenced in yard, I wouldn't be surprised if the police stopped by. Too much of the population can't separate nude and sex.

What kind of fence do you have? If people have to go out of their way to see, you should be OK. I have a 6' privacy fence and often sun and swim nude.I am a little more careful standing up since it would be easier to be seen over the fence.

Nowadays everybody at my work place knows I am a nudist and I work nude as often as I can - being self employed and working from your home has its benefits I guess.
However, it hasn't always been like this for me. I held very senior roles in a number of organisations and my nudism was always a well kept and guarded facet of my life and personality. Why - because not everybody will react or act favourably towards you. There is a vast chasm in understanding nudism by the broader population, and your work place is no different (albeit a very small number of businesses do you work nude days from what I understand).
That broad and vast chasm of understanding has on one end, nudists and naturists of course but the bell curve sits a mean average around saying they are nonplussed and then takes a steep dive to those who'll use it to divide, ridicule and vilify, and generally make life hard for you. And guess what they seem to be the sociopaths in senior management....

nudonyJul 22, 2022I personally knew two people (one in retail and the other at a hospital) who openly came out as nudists at work. They were both ridiculed, labeled "weirdos"; and the stigma lasted during for the rest of their employment there. I tried to defend them without directly "outing myself", but I was brushed off. Small town people...small minds. I learned from this that you need to have really thick skin to openly come out as a nudist in some environments. And I'm not THAT thick-skinned.
If you're going to "come out" at work, it's better to do it with specific people with whom you have a rapport based on mutual trust and respect - that extends beyond the workplace. I've done this a few times; and in one case a co-worker actually embraced home-nudism after discussing it with me. And they never "outed" me.

As in Andy's case, there are exceptions where it's accepted.
One notable one for me was a friend of mine, who was co-owner of a small business (3-4 employees). Not only did all his co-workers know he was a nudist; but he was also nude when he did paperwork in the back office. I actually went to see him at work once; and he was in fact naked in his office then. While visiting and interacting with the other employees, I found out that his female co-worker (the admin assistant) actually had accompanied him once to his resort and had socialized nude with him and his GF at their home on occasion. His business partner, whose wife was against it, had not.
I found it pretty fascinating that nudity had been so normalized at a workplace and between co-workers. But I think that's very rare outside of self-employment or very small workplaces.

was working with a new hire and she said one day can't wait to get home and get her clothes off. I said really, I am a nudist too.she said she lives alone, kids all grown up.she said come over some time, she lived out in country and had a big fenced in yard.Later in the spring she said come over so I did and she answered the front door naked. we spent the day naked in the backyard, she had a above ground pool to cool off in.

totaltanjimSep 5, 2022As others have posted, there are to many variables in each situation to give an answer that will work for everyone. I can only tell you what I have done and so far I have never had a negative response.
At my previous job, there were only two of us. My boss/brother-in-law knew I was a nudist and by the time we had to close the business after ten years, most of the other tenants in our small industrial complex either knew I was a nudist or had actually seen me nude.
I have been at my current job since the summer of 2015. It is also located in a small industrial area but with a lot more activity. We share the unit with another company. They have the front office area and we have the back warehouse. There are two owners of the company I work for that spend most of there time in the field. I work alone in the warehouse taking care of shipping/receiving and helping the occasional will-call customer. The other company consists of the owner and two women who handle sales.
Until a couple of weeks ago, none of these people new I was a nudist.
It has been extremely hot the last few weeks. The front office closes about an hour before we do and I will change into my WNBR shirt once they leave. I can put my regular shirt back on quickly enough if someone comes back in.
One of the women from the front office has been staying late at least two days a week.
I finally told her I normally put on a sleeveless t-shirt but was not sure how she would feel about the image on it. Her answer surprised me when she said I could go without a shirt and it would not bother her.
I kind of laughed and said don't temp me.
A few days after this exchange I had the WNBR shirt on when she came back to tell me she was leaving for the day. I walked her back through the office in order to lock the door after she left.
It took a few minutes for her to realize what was on my shirt and she asked if I had actually done that.
I told her not only had I ridden once but in June had completed my twelfth ride.
Her reaction was one of surprise but also support.
Before anyone questions why I do not work without a shirt on or even nude, I do, but only on those occasions when I am 100% sure no one will be coming in.

My problem is I do not know when one of my bosses could come in unexpectedly. All my WNBR rides have been through Los Angeles, CA. My first one was in 2010 and we only had about 80 riders. I have ridden in all twelve rides since then (naturally there was no ride in 2020). I will repeat what I have said whenever I post about participating in the WNBR. Based on the positive reaction from almost all that see us, I know that the vast majority of the general public does not have a problem with simply seeing someone nude.ReactReply
