I have been enjoying the clothes free lifestyle for 36 years now. As a resident in Connecticut, my options are very limited here, and as of late try to spend as much time up in Vermont where it isnt frowned upon as much as in other areas local to me. i am very close to just giving up on tryin to find friends in the lifestyle, and/or a female partner. i go to events, participate, swap contact info with other fellow nudists, yet i am always the one chasing people. never does anyone actually reach out to me to make a plan, get together, meet up at any given time. i watch for posts here and when local events in my wheelhouse get planned, i make the effort to attend if possible. to me, in my experience, and opinion, if im not part of a m/f couple, or m/m couple, or gay or bi, i am not worthy of social settings. so basically ,in my area of the united states it seems, being a single, straight male is taboo, and frowned upon. the local resorts to me in CT and RI have made me feel welcome when initially taking my entrance fee, but once inside and mingling with others, i am made to feel very uncomfortable once others realize i am there solo. And not gay i may add. I am almost ,not quite, but almost at the point where i am ready to just give up on the clothing optional/nudist lifestyle in general. Unless i see some sort of effort on others in the lifestyle, in 2026 and beyond, i feel i am done. So to the ones that welcome people like me to group events to chest thump the numbers of people attending said events... takes more than events a couple times a year to make others in the lifestyle feel welcome. We are not just a statistic to add to your event attendance total. If anyone wishes to discuss this in person further with me... i will be attending WBNR/WALK and summer solstice nude hiking day 2026 and any other events/hikes i see posted i can physically attend if the sun/moon/stars align.

Please askJan 3, 2026Well, I am glad we crossed paths this summer in Vermont. Lone, straight males indeed have a tough time connecting with others - I have lots of experience with this. This is why I will take whatever opportunities I have and just go for a walk, preferably in Vermont where, at least in most parts of the state, you won't get arrested and likely won't receive negative comments.
For me, it's about the freedom and comfort of being naked. I prefer to join others but will go for a hike or a swim alone if no one else responds to an opportunity to join me. I am a nudist because I enjoy doing everything in my life without clothing, not because I must the social contact, even if it's my preference. It is about the freedom and comfort first.
Hope we have the opportunity to connect again for another outing (or a dozen).ReactReply - JI
JimJan 3, 2026Agreed! I also enjoyed our small group hike and look forward to more! I look at it as any opportunity to be baked outdoors is great , better than none . Yes I have felt the same negative vibe at many though not all nudist resorts when the fact Im solo seems isolating. Hope to see you again in warmer weather!

RichOriginal PosterJan 4, 2026totally agree. i already have feelers out to Airbnb hosts asking if their rentals are nudist /clothing optional friendly before i book for this coming season. im looking to attend WNBR/WALK in june as well as nude hiking day also in june. also looking to spend june 27th through july 5th in the northern tier of Vermont in 2 different locations, split on opposite sides of the state to explore areas i have not explored yet. hopefully clothing optional spots as well like Lake Willoughby, of which last year i did an 8 mile hike overlooking the lake totally nude and it was awesome! I have all the maps and again, in the planning stages currently as rentals fill up fast. keep in touch, and i will keep you posted if your able to visit up there at some point. or when it warms up and if you wish to get together for a hike some day.

Please askJan 5, 2026Thanks, Jim, and happy new(d) year to you also.
Let's all stay in touch and keep an eye on Otis's freehiking group. I'd like to get up to the northern part of Vermont in early July and hope to join the solstice hike again, depending on the day. I'll try to organize a hike or more in the southern tier of the state; still interested in picking off sections of the Long Trail.

RichOriginal PosterJan 5, 2026Happy New Year to you both as well. Like i said lake Willoughby has a nude beach and i hiked there nude last 4th of july week, planning on going back again this summer. solstice hike is june 20 or 21st and Wnbr/walk is 2nd saturday in june. like i said, i am planning on renting an Airbnb up in those areas so you are welcome to overnight with me if need be. there is usually multiple beds or a couch to crash overnight on to rest up for the journey back home. multiple options available to plan around. keep in touch

StevieLornaJan 6, 2026Takearulertoit, I really hope you dont give up the nudist lifestyle and I sympathise that you feel badly treated,
I think there is something you are missing.
Generally ,couple dont want to spend time with solo males.
Let me explain, when Lorna and I got together, we holidayed all over Europe, and North Africa, lots of countries and cultures. These were textile holidays and the one thing you almost never see at a textile resort or beach is a solo male. In over 12 years we only met one solo male, and he was only there by himself because his wife was too busy with work. To be honest it was only because we were part of a larger group that we socialise with him at all. If it was just the two of us, it would just have been a polite hello.
Even in every day life, the things we do as a couple, solo males dont.
It was only when we started visiting nude beaches and later resorts that we even noticed solo males.
We dont have any problem with solo males, chatted to dozens over the years, if people are polite and respectful thats how we will treat them too, but just because we are all naked it doesnt change that couple generally only want to hang out with other couples.
Sorry, but thats just how it is .
I think accepting that will make you happier.
One other thing, your name, just wondering .what you are asking us to measure?

RichOriginal PosterJan 8, 2026I do not believe sir that you have any idea what i have experienced, or what i am talking about. And you for sure have not walked in my shoes to understand what i have experienced, and where i am coming from. i am not looking to interact or hang out with couples. Also i do not feel the need to elaborate on a screen name as i do not know you, and therefore do not feel the need to explain. I do know for a fact im extremely tired of noone listening to what i have to say, and others self proclaimed wisdom and opinions on my experiences, when they have absolutely no clue.

StevieLornaJan 8, 2026If I have failed to understand your plight as a solo male by reading your opening post then that is your fault not mine.
If you have failed to find a partner to share your life, then that is no ones problem but your own.
If people dont want to spend time with you. Well you get the picture.
If I was meeting someone for the first time, Id introduce myself by telling them my name, if they were to hand me a measuring tape, Id think they were a fk idiot.

Where I go as a single male I have NEVER had a problem. I have met people from around the world and I love to go. Few times I have gone with a women. I do not drive ,have a service dog. I can just sit pool side or walk around. Everyone is always nice. Only once questioned about my dog. Both are always perfect and in control 100% of the time. I hope to buy into the park some day.

Most of the people, including the staff, were always nice and even engaging, but with rare exception, there was a group of the old-timers clique that you could see were not happy. They see the club as their personal enclave and don't want outsiders, especially single males, invading. Some clubs invite this attitude by not enforcing their own rules, not just on newcomers, but the old timers. Most of the time I saw men causing trouble, it wasn't the "single" male, it was the married (and usually unaccompanied) male. The formal place I frequent the most now (though far too infrequently) has no gender quota (only a daily population quota) and enforces rules of behavior and while the men usually do outnumber the woman, it isn't by a large margin because the rules are enforced and trouble makers get banned. Just my own observations.ReactReply - RI
RichOriginal PosterJan 10, 2026Good for you out west. Probably a different atmosphere out there compared to the Northeastern United states, which is where i live, and my experiences come from. And i do not have a dog to take with me everywhere as an ice breaker with everyone. Because pets/animals are always center of attention to the people that embrace pet ownership out here. SO i can assume that having one in tow everywhere you go more than likely is an instant conversation starter. Amazing how everyone has an opinion polar opposite of my experiences although they all live nowhere near me or frequent where i have gone.

RichOriginal PosterJan 10, 2026WOW.... your an idiot. Mr world traveler chest pounding better than everyone else... you dont live in Connecticut, or go to local areas here as i have for many years. therefore you cannot know what i experience as again i will say, you have not walked in my shoes or lived life here, see what i see. since you are so high n mighty, and havent spent any time alone, and single, you cannot have an opinion as you have not lived like i have to experience what i have . so keep your opinions to yourself as you have not got a clue. probably never even been on the east coast your entire miserable existence. fucking idiot

J.Jan 10, 2026To the OP, what is your problem? You escalate and then explode at anyone that points out your issues may be self inflicted. Are you sure it isnt your attitude that is causing others at the area camps to act in whatever way makes you feel uncomfortable? I am on the Membership Committee at Solair and have given tours to multiple single males this last summer. Unless some behavior gets them kicked out and banned, there is no reason single males cant be at Solair and interact with everyone else there and have a good time. I have multiple single male friends who are either members or associates who get along fine with everyone else while at Solair. Yes, it is a little more work when you are a solo male but you can still make friends. About 1/4 of the weekends I go to Solair I am a solo male as well, either for the whole weekend or at least one night before Mrs. J&C joins me or one day after she leaves. I accept that I will probably have a quiet evening or day, and that is as a member who knows pretty much everyone at camp.
Have you contacted any of the non-landed clubs in the area? Naturist New Hampshire has many events that are overwhelmingly attended by single males. We have been to several events with them. The Sunchasers leans more to couples, but there are still single males at their events. Even up in Vermont, you can go to the Ledges and there will be others to interact with on any given day. You dont have to wait for an invitation or an event like WNBR to go do something.

I do not think your experience is really any different from trying to join any established group or club, nudist or textile. Nudists are likely to be a bit more guarded. I would suggest you just sit back and let the folks approach you. People are naturally curious about others and once you have been seen a few times at the club I am sure people will approach you for a chat.
If you are attending and established club, then approach the owners or managers and ask if you could be shown around an introduced to a few people as a new member. That will sort of establish your credentials.ReactReply - NAnaturist_kq3069_16277Jan 11, 2026
I would suggest you take those shoes off and find a different pair. Or stop using cliches.

RichOriginal PosterJan 11, 2026For your information like i stated above, the clubs/campgrounds i have mentioned without name dropping them are very happy to take the entrance fee very happily. But once inside its a different atmosphere towards me in my opinion, and its my experience that matters since im posting, and being judged here it seems. so lets name drop then.... lets start with sun ridge, took the fee, then tried socializing, didnt work, people there very uppity and full of themselves, never went back. only takes 1 time for me, thats the only shot, then i never go back if i do not like treatment towards me. that was over 15 yrs ago, do not care about times changing or whatever excuse it is out there. you had a shot, and blew it, i am out after that. not wasting my time, money, again. Lets talk about Solair.... went on Memorial day many years ago, again, happily took my entrance fee, then a woman in a golf cart gave me the tour, after said tour she brought me back to my car but before parting stated that if kids in hot tub, or sauna, do not go in them, also if i happened to be enjoying those , if kids come and get in while i am occupying them, to get out and leave. Ok... not a pedophile, i have encountered kids at Dyer woods, not new to this lifestyle, i go my way, they go theirs, it pretty clear. also it was made EXTREMELY clear that after 3 visits to Solair, i MUST make a decision if i wish to buy property there and become a lifer.... REALLY???? again, after 1 visit, i didnt even stay all day i left around 2-3pm and have never gone back. Dyer woods seemed to be the place for me for a while, i helped with cleanups in the fall and spring to gain day passes and make friends, which i did for a few years, then it started to feel like noone wanted to socialize unless i was gay, which i am not, or i was bringing my Husqvarna back pack leaf blower and fuel/oil to clear whole lots people had residences on, while others didnt help me, and the others there were clearly there to socialize more than work. the Dyer Woods equipment kept constantly breaking down, and warranted lots of time in repairs to some members. yet others were basically pretending to drag rakes around and not do much more. i have bad rotator cuffs so to blow leaves for 8 hours on a day off for day passes that didnt carry over to the next season just wasnt worth it to me so i stopped going there a few years ago. Vermont is nudist friendly, the ledges, rock river, lake Willoughby, free nudist areas. nude hiking day, again free, WNBR/W again free to do. and out of all the places mentioned i have kept in touch, or tried to with a few i swapped contact info with but it takes 2 to tango. It gets old constantly trying, and noone else is. I have been out on my own since age 15, no help ever from anyone, and into the naturist/ nudist lifestyle since age 20. i am currently 56 and this is life as i know it. i make plans, go places, do things, mostly solo because cannot count on anyone these days it seems to be at a time, day, place, etc. no matter what state i go to, i book nudist friendly Airbnb's, and i go, and i find places i can go and be nude solo in remote locations where i will not run into people that frown on the lifestyle. and if i get spotted then oh well, no harm no foul. I have encountered law enforcement a few times and been warned. nothing more. so tired of all the judges coming forward thinking they know me, when they have no clue, you have not walked in my shoes. you have not had a divorce, a child battling cancer 10 yrs,, tryin to make ends meet, and keep insurance on your kid for treatments/operations, had life savings almost wiped out by a skank ex who ddnt care about anything but herself, and literally have nothing and have to start over not once, but 2 times in my life. have any of you???? i still remain optimistic there are good people out there even tho i have yet to meet them. we all have been through hard times, difficult situations. people need to stop bein so judgy and actually get to know another person before passin judgement. you have no idea what we have lived through, just like everyone with something to say is a total stranger to me as well
