[strong]When visiting a Nudist Resort, I would prefer that all participants agree to Not Wear Clothing at all.[/strong]

It really seems to put everyone on the same playing field if everyone is naked. It can seem a little awkward when some are dressed and some are not. If there are a lot of people dressed, than that is when I notice that I am not dressed.

It seems that there are themes for a lot of the dances and parties at nudist resorts. People attend the parties and dress according to the "theme". I wish sometime the theme was just a"Birthday-Suit" theme.

I understand the weather sometimes prohibits people from being completely undressed ... but when the situation allows, I think everyone should be naked at a nudist resort. Most resorts seem to be clothing optional, I wish most places would have a rule that nudity is required.

[strong]Does anyone else prefer Clubs & Resorts that require participants agree to Not Wear Clothing in General???[/strong]

[strong]What are your favorite Clubs that expect you to be Naked at all times ??[/strong]
Probably won't fly, but perhaps reception can hand out buttons to the reluctant to pin on their clothing, featuring a cartoon chicken and the caption "I'm too chicken to go nude just yet!" Want to remove the button? Everything else goes with it! :-D Right. Humiliate people the moment they walk into the door. Sounds like a great way to introduce people to nudism.
Imagine that that right force someone to fit in or look at the situation through my eyes or humiliate them thats such a strong motivator. If we stopped making it about getting naked and focused on all the other things like the community the connection with mature - take into consideration how people actually change we might be actually encourage more people to adopt the way of life. But we are stuck on get naked so the rest of the world will read only there experiences into that and since for many that is negative we wont reach many

The closest resort to me is for men only. It is 100% clothing optional -- it is not a nudist resort. By that I mean, it is ok to be nude throughout the resort -- even in the registration office and cafe. But it is also ok to be clothed throughout the resort -- even in the pool, sauna, and hot tub.

Each visitor decides whether or not to wear clothing. Although most of the men in the pool and pool area are nude, some swim in shorts. Some guys use the hot tub with shorts on.

Although my preference would be for everyone to be nude all the time while at the resort, the goal is to allow each man decide what is comfortable for himself. Many of the men who visit the resort are textiles and are uncomfortable being nude. If they were required to be nude, they would likely not visit the resort -- lost revenue.
Does anyone ever stop to ask why they care if others are nude when their own freedom to experience their own natural state is unimpugned? Why does their nakedness or non-nakedness impact your own? Why do you demand their nakedness? Why do they owe it to you to be naked? Do you claim some right over their body? Is it some banal game of "I showed you mine now show me yours"? What possible noble reason is there for you to demand that someone else remove their clothing around you? Is not their holding no claims against your freedom to be nude good enough? Try this then. Don a blindfold, then be nude. Experience nudism as a blind person, find out if it's the state of being your natural self that you're after, or if your motivations are something unworthy and selfish.
You make a good point. I personally do not care if I am the only nude among the clothed, though I have not had that experience very often. Should others want to join me at being clothes free, that's fine too. One thing that must be taken into consideration is that if a place that allows nudity among the clothed becomes more popular with the clothed, the freedom to be nude might just be taken away.

Several male college students rented a large house together. On moving day, one of the men brought in his stuff and stripped nude before he even started unpacking, He remained nude until he had to leave the next day and got nude again as soon as he returned, Within a few days, all the men in the house had abandoned all clothing at home and spend the rest of the academic year nude whenever they were home.

The difference here is that one was a private home and the other places that have been closed were public beaches. I most definitely can go either way. Caution and eagle eyed observation are in order.

I haven't been to a nudist resort, but I've been to quite a few clothing-optional (i.e., nude) beaches, spas and hot springs resorts, all of which I prefer to enjoy nude. At first, the presence of clothed people in those settings confused me, but I quickly came to appreciate the way those places enable and prioritize nudity as an important but low-risk personal choice. It's one way that nudity is normalized for textiles who might not be quite ready to be nude themselves.

Why would someone stay clothed around nude people, when they could be clothed around other clothed people? So long as they're acting respectfully and appropriately and don't interfere with my choice to be nude, that's none of my business.

Sure, I'd enjoy it more if everyone were nude. But in an accepting, respectful environment, something less than 100% participation doesn't actually affect me.

By focusing on gender and enforcing that all penis holders must be escorted by a vagina holder in order to be let past the gates, resorts practicing gender discrimination don't offer an environment which could be described as normalized in any way. They need to focus on respect and behavior first and foremost.

Nudism is up to the individual's choice; individualism runs deep in the nudist community. If you want to wear something at a resort which is at its heart about the freedom of being bare, you can stay at your campsite or in your cabin or room the entire time you are at a nudist resort...and why exactly are you there?

If a new visitor needs time to transition from clothes to nude, our resort has designated areas where they can do so, or one weekend a year (open house) where they can wander around clothed all day and hopefully begin to understand why we full-timers are drawn to be socially nude. If that isn't enough, maybe they should have done more internal research before making the trip to a place where clothes are not permitted except for weather-related concerns.

The desire to be unclothed comes naturally to most everyone. Wanting to wear clothes is the unnatural state, often arriving around the time of puberty, with the desire to cover up the body parts - which are transitioning into adulthood because of hormonal shifts - overtaking the freedoms that being bare offers. We do lose some nudists forever during this transitional period, and that is unfortunate, but the individual is the decider. Parents and guardians can only do so much to encourage nudism with their charges once the child begins the change.

I have a very difficult time understanding what is gained by a nude resort shifting to clothing optional. Not giving people the option to cover up is important to me and I vote for nude every time. Clothing inevitably adds an aura of the provocative to an otherwise incredible feeling of freedom. When you begin to let people put on clothing around others who are undressed, the dressers will likely choose to adorn their bodies with something that accentuates those obscured parts. Lift those sagging breasts, cover that shrinking willy, tuck that shameful bulge behind some stretchy fabric. Does this dress make me look fat? You betcha!

What is lost when clothing is allowed is much more than a view of the now happily-hidden, physical body part. What is hidden hides more than the skin and hair under there. Nudity is the great equalizer. Having the option to put cloth over parts of the body gives the person some place to hide parts of themselves away from the world, the exact opposite of what nudism is about. The eyes of others are often drawn to adornments, that's why they are called that - a supposed beautification of what is the most beautiful thing we have. Clothes give the wearer a chance to make themselves into something they are not, something they wish we were instead of what they are at the core.

Clothes do NOT make the man, to misquote the saying. No clothes makes us free to be who we are, unabashedly out in the open, to hell with the rest! Buy a pretty towel and lay your bare body down on it and let everyone see everything. Leave your clothed, fake world outside the gate.

We've been nudists for 10+ years and have been on hundreds of trips to house parties/bowling/resorts/camps/beaches/cruises and I don't think we have been to a nudity required event even once. Doesn't make a difference to me. If it is warm enough for me to be comfortable, I will be nude 24/7 wherever and whenever it is allowed. Mrs. J&C dresses when we go hiking (the mosquitos can be pretty bad at our home camp), will wear a tee shirt if we are out in the sun too long and will usually wear a sarong to the dances, but otherwise she is also nude. My only preference is that the % of clothed people doesn't get high enough to pressure Mrs. J&C into getting dressed. Thankfully, at our home camp even when people are dressed it is usually, as the French on Ile du Levant say, "Le Minimum" unless it is cold out. A pareo for the women and maybe a pair of shorts for the men. And the percentage stays low.

At my nudist club nudity is required only around the pool and jacuzzi. The intent here is to prevent non-nudists who only want to ogle nude folks from joining the club. Curiously, the tennis program is very active as well as pickleball, but about half the players wear some clothes, some wear both t-shirt and shorts. I always play naked unless its too cool or the sun is dangerously strong. I dont understand my fellow players decision to use textiles.
I rather go clothing optional because my wife can join me she's a non nudists in public lol
Even though I'm a pro-naked nudist, I also believe in doing "whatever works best for you." As previously mentioned, I go to a "nude-obligatory" resort; but I can understand that the prospect of having to stay naked the entire time can be a bit much to "digest" for many women. Hence the prevalence of C/O resorts. I actually think (pessimistically) that "nude-mandatory" might eventually get phased out down the road. It's actually by chance that we ended up at an "NM" resort. We were looking for a place closer to home (than Sunny Rest or TLR) and it had a lake (which my wife was looking for). It was only later that we found out it was "nude all the time." My wife was very much "pro-C/O" at the time, so this was a stretch for her. But she was a trooper and decided to give it a shot. After hiking, paddle-boarding and just hanging out naked the entire day; she realized that it made for a more gratifying and fun experience. She's now 100% on board with full nudity. But...that works for us. There are many wives who are just not going to be comfortable remaining naked "no matter what, where, and around whom." But one thing to keep in mind is that my wife initially didn't think she would either. So my appreciation for "nude-obligatory" resorts comes in great part from the fact that it changed my wife's entire perspective on clothesfree recreation.

My preference is clothing optional because that allow more people to engage and experience the way of life that is naturism. Philosophically I can see requiring others to undress when we fight for the freedom to not be required to be clothed. Seems inconsistent.

I dont have a problem being is a group naked if others are clothed as long as the environment is safe for ALL. People have different life experiences that shape the way they engage in this way of life. My respect for those diverse life experiences precludes me from imposing my preferences on others.

My preference for being and enjoyment of being clothes free is not predicated on anyone else state of dress. Its all about my preference and my enjoyment. In the same way the times when I choose to get dressed up is not predicated on what anyone who is nude is doing. Personal choice and the freedom to experience the freedom of clothes free living is what motivates my preference.
So at White Tail you are expected to be nude under most circumstances?
That is correct. The decision to be straight up nude, not clothing optional, was made by the board of directors (or whatever it's called) many moons ago. It was a very conscious, thoroughly debated decision by my understanding. Sometimes the bare rule is bent, and I've seen it plain broken a few times given special circumstances. We have some visitors (and even residents) who wear items of cloth where they ought not and I've seen office staff have to confront these non-adherents. That sounds a lot more in your face than I meant it to - confrontation is a strong word - it is quietly and respectfully requested without fanfare, not over the PA system. We're an easy-going sort, but except for a couple of special circumstances, um, no, that dental-floss thong ain't staying on in the pool. I've never been witness to it, but I've been told about someone with body jewelry connecting their nipple rings to their genital piercings being asked to remove the connecting chain. And for the record, at our adult-oriented Halloween dance, I'd guess even that jewelry might pass muster with the hilarious and inventive costumes you'll see. No kids allowed at only two events in the year at White Tail, the Halloween dance and Beachfest. We have special kid activities scheduled at those times. There are always going to be some who want to push the limits of good taste, and attempt to wear inappropriate adornments, and of course engage in outrageous activities. As an example, we had a couple who brought their dog into the pool with them a few years ago, I mean COME ON! I personally witnessed that, and it took about 10 seconds before three staff members were sternly admonishing the owners. There is freedom, but there is also an assumption that we're not going to be dog paddling with an actual dog. Weather and bug issues are always mitigating factors. What you wear at your campsite stays at your campsite. Any rental spot or room or deck space is yours to dress in, on or around however you like. And then off it comes as you venture forth.

Endowment issues are a serious factor, with women who have very large breasts or men who swing a big dingdong having to throttle those parts down, given the real issue of damage to the aforementioned parts or parts adjacent. It's an old joke about how a big breasted woman can't go for a jog because she'll give herself a black eye, but folks who still tell that joke haven't ever watched a 5K run at a nude resort! For pickleball and tennis, sometimes a jockstrap or a sports bra is absolutely needed, and try biking a few miles without some biking shorts on and you'll understand what chafing is - youchycoo! If someone's wearing shorts when they're playing cornhole or mini golf or petanque, I don't see a lot of sense to it. Darts with clothes on is plain foolish! But active sports sometimes need some inactive parts or someone's gonna put an eye out ~

Although I have been to Gunnison many times, I have only been to a clothing optional resort twice (Sunny Rest), and they were day trips.
It is nude mandatory in all pools and hot tubs, but clothing optional elsewhere.
Most people are nude on the deck, and it varies elsewhere.
Both times I went, I stripped and locked all of my clothes except sandals in the car as soon as I got there and left them there until I was leaving.

That's fairly similar to LOTW; which is perhaps even more stringent. "It's that time of the month? Sorry...but you can't be in the populated areas if you're going to wear bottoms." So someone who has/wants to wear bottoms has to either remove them, or move to the campgrounds/far end of the resort. But then they'll allow bottomlessness; which may seem like a weird "loophole."

I recognize that "nude-obligatory" is not for everyone. It requires a commitment, and appreciation, of an homogenous /communal naked environment. Otherwise you're just going to feel "forced" to be naked. The regulars I've talked to are ultimately ok with the "rigidity" of "nude-obligatory"; because at the end of the day they find it a small "price to pay" to keep the resort from being C/O. My wife, for example, now considers going to a C/O resort as "going backwards", because she might not feel comfortable there being naked outside the pool area - when most other people aren't. At LOTW, she knows she can be naked anywhere; and anywhere she goes in the populated areas, other people will be naked too. For many women, this presents a significant advantage in terms of experiencing a "fully immersive" nudist experience. But not everyone is going to see/feel the appeal of it.

Optional for me. Clothes for me are a utility item. It can serve a purpose when needed (for example in my case, I get too cold too easily). Nudism to me is the understanding of clothes being more of a tool than a requirement to exist. Just like any other tool, its importance varies depending on the need.

True freedom is choice. Freedom of clothes isn't a ban of clothes, imo. Freedom of clothes is the freedom to choose how much value clothes have to you.
So anyone who goes to a bar, must drink alcohol ! Yes, and everybody who visits Paris should climb the Eiffel tower.
I think this a perfect response e to the either/or modality it goes counter to everything we say we are fighting for when we impose your preferences on others so we feel good about our preferences. That is exactly what those who decry any form or social or public nudity do. There is no evidence that adopting the way of functioning that those who dont like our way of life do brings more people into nudism/naturism. Its just like the quote above suggest just because I want to visit the Eiffel Tower when in Paris doesnt mean I should expect everyone who visits Paris to do the same. As long as they are able to enjoy Paris the way they want without harming or hindering my way of enjoying Paris everything should be good.
