nudity at non-nude beaches

  The anti-nudity laws began to be enforced on what was traditionally a nude beach near here based upon the complaint of one individual. Prior to that I spent an enjoyable day there with other nudists. The passerby's on foot and on bicycles appeared not to notice our nudity. The majority does not always rule.

  I think I would prefer to go to a clothing optional or nude beach rather than having to keep putting a swimsuit on and off.  Plus there is always the chance that someone may see you before you get it on and report you.  I don't know the laws in Texas but it would be wise to be careful.  Perhaps there may be a c/o beach in your area.

  There is a nonlanded club in your area and they can give you not only updates but afford you the opportunity to socialize among people of similar minds.   They used to visit Galveston beach frequently before they started to prohibit nudity there.

  I commend you!  Your attitude is most reasonable, toasty.  You should  not have many problems with equally reasonable non-nudists (the anally retentive, another story).  I guess you biggest concern would be with local law enforcement.  Might want to do some research first.

  For years nudity was allowed on McFaddin beach, which is east of the ferry in Galveston.  Now the federal game warden is often there and will issue citations if he sees you nude.  In Texas that is a class c and can carry a fine up to $500 but the norm from what I hear is $250.  I have heard that some go to Crystal Beach instead.  If you go east from the ferry and a few miles down the road at beach access road turn right and then go back west a couple of miles it is so secluded that the only people that go to that area are there to be nude and you can see anyone coming from a long way.  I have not had chance to check it out for myself but wanted to mention that some do that.

  thanks for the replies everyone! I did see a police officer but he was pulling someone over on the road, and thus was not interested in me at all.
  I've heard about the crystal beach and would have loved to visit but that was just too far out of the way. I'll just have to stick to visiting resorts and trying to convince some friends to go.
  I'll be honest though, I've never been naked at the beach before and it was such a wonderful experience!

I would worry more about the after effects of 'offending someone' rather than offending someone who is just a prude. If the worst that can happen is that you are asked to cover up then just keep doing it until then, if you're going to jail then I'd probably stop or wear something very small!!

  I think it is not worth the risk to be nude at non-nude beaches.  In my case, with Gunnison Beach so close, why go nude at a non-nude beach?

  last year while visiting the georgia coast we had wandered far out from the beach at low tide the beach wasn't very crowded and since we were out quite a ways and was sitting down i removed my bathing suit and did some nude sunbathing my wife who was wearing shorts and a t-shirt stripped down to her underwear but wouldn;t go any further, needless to say we need more nude beaches. a compromise would be one designate in each state.

  I agree with a lot of the post, be ready to cover up so you do not offend anyone.  Anyone that would strip down on a beach and then expect the non nudists to join in is a exhibitionist.  Why offend the textiles, all it does is make a bad name for the good of the nudist organization.  Do as those that have posted on this topic, be ready to cover up and far enough away to have time to do it.

  I usually wear a solar tan-thru swimsuit to non-nude beaches and a lanyard with a clip around my wrist. When go for a swim I remove my shorts and clip them. No harm, no foul. Besides you don't want sea lice or sand around your privates.

People who break the law go to jail.[/quote]  That's pretty good advice.  Here in the UK it isn't illegal, but you are expected to cover up if anyone objects.  The law varies widely from place to place.  Judge for yourself accordingly.

  I used to live in NYC. In Brooklyn at brighton beach there was a ton of nudity. Nobody ever seemed to care. But it was a big Russian and eastern Euopean community. Mabe that had something to do with it. Also New Yorkers don't get phased that easily.

  I have been to a lot of nude beaches and have been nude on non-nude beaches. While my purpose for being nude on the non-nude beaches is not to offend those that are on the beach (I try not to be right in their face about it) I also feel that we, as nudists, have to stop hiding in resorts and secluded areas but come out and make ourselves known. We do exist and we should have areas (marked if need be) where we can be nude. To accomplish this goal we often have to push the envelope a bit.

  Oh I have been "caught" more than once. I have my written warning from the Florida Park Service for being nude in Jonathan Dickerson State Park. I got it when I was part of a group that was on a canuding trip in that park. The following year I, along with some friends, went canuding in the same park without a problem.
  
  Last February I was part of a group that went nude on a non-nudist beach in Florida. The police took our names and addresses.
  
  We have already lost too many beaches where nudity used to be acceptable, and no one is going to get anti-nudity legislation changed or eliminated or grant us areas where we can be nude if we continue to hide the fact we are nudists.

  While I would like to be a law abiding citizen there are some laws that I feel should be changed. Where would our country be today if in the days of the American Revolution all the people in this country sat back and said "Oh my. We have to obey the law and don’t want to make any waves"?
  
  I feel the same way about anti-nudity legislation. While it would be nice if the decision to go around nude or dressed was mine and mine alone I don’t think that will happen in my lifetime. I would, however, like to see us start with having more areas where clothing is optional.
  
  What right do the textiles have to dictate what I can and cannot wear?

  In Canada it is legal to be nude if you have a reasonable expectation of privacy, having said that, if you go to a beach and move far away from the crowd, and it is reasonable that you will not be seen then you are fine. But it is important that you are far enough away, as respecting the law and others should be paramount.

  I've never had any problems when nude on a none-nudist beach.  I find a quiet spot to settle down and use a three-sided windbreak, so people can only see me from one viewpoint.
  I have had people see me and even start a conversation.  On one occasion, a lady passing by said " I wish I could be brave enough to just lay there in the sun,like that."
  I'm not suggesting that people should just go onto any beach and strip naked, it's a case of using a little common sense. And as stated in former posts, it depends on the local laws.
