Why Not Nude? — Nudist Resorts on True Nudists

In the last two years we have visited a dozen nudist/clothing optional resorts in the eastern quarter of the U.S. The overwhelming majority of guests are nude only at the pools. At dinners and dances some males are nude, but very few females. We just had dinner (nude) with 45 other diners at a prominent Florida resort and there were two other nude diners. The temperature outside was 80, so weather wasn't an issue. Looking for resorts where this isn't common.

But indeed, sometimes it's the other way around. My wife and I were at a nudist venue a few weeks ago; and met another (older) couple. It soon became clear that they were on different levels of "naked confidence." The wife was openly naked the entire time; while the husband shifted between nudity, a bathrobe, and a T-shirt; depending on the level of socialization. After we'd chatted for a bit, my suspicion was confirmed: she was the "driving force" behind social nudism. She had been thinking about nudism for a long time; and when they became empty nesters, she immediately decided to embark on her nudist journey. Her husband supported it; although he was not quite "on her level" of comfort being completely naked around other people. In most of the cases I've encountered where the woman was the "driving force"; it was generally either of two things: she grew up nudist and was the one to introduce her partner; or she had experienced nudism through a previous relationship, and had decided to resume social nudity with her current partner.
