I have read with interest the views of others in regards to nudism and sexual behaviour and that’s left me wondering what
people thoughts were on the open display of affection by couples.
I’m not talking about sex, but about having a cuddle or kissing when you’re on a beach, clothed or not.
I like showing affection towards my wife but I feel that if we had a kiss and a cuddle on a nudist beach this may be frowned

CanoodlerJul 23, 2009To Naturally and Kurt, all I can think to say is sarcasm here. It hardly requires any thought to figure out how far off the mark you guys are. Gays kiss each other FOR EXACTLY THE SAME REASON THAT ANYBODY DOES. Geez. Kurt, how can you think they just do it to offend? Does that mean that they are secretly straight and just pretending so they can cause a ruckus? I am USED to men and women kissing so it doesn't offend. Most people are USED to clothed people so nude ones sometimes offend. If you are homophobic then it might scare you. But certainly, you are not USED to it so their kissing might shock you. It's just kissing. Chill out and as nudists, you should be ashamed of yourselves for judging people on your own personal biases. Don't bring your prejudices here or atleast, air them as a discussion and not as truths. You obviously don't know the truths in this matter. Meet some gay folks. Get to know them and then come back and tell us what you've discovered. When you love someone, you want to kiss them and if that person happens to be the same sex, then gosh, it just might follow that you'd still want to kiss them no matter what the narrowminded in the vicinity might think. Whoops, there goes the sarcasm, could only hold it back for so long.

But then again we have been known to do things for the same reason. We hear lots of nudists say we should be accepting of others lifestyles as we want others to be accepting of ours. But the same people frown upon other peoples lifestyles whether they be gay, swinging, or what ever else you are not accustomed to. We are used to seeing PDA and even a lot more and neither offend us. We also understand the need for discression in public venues, especialy when children are present and know how to act approprietely. We also understand that we are an even smaller minority than nudists alone and wonder if we would be given the same consideration others are being asked to give? SoCal Nudists & MoreReactReply - SH

ShaggyJul 31, 2009We have noticed that PDA at it's different levels is accepted very differently depending on the location and audience. Hugging and even kissing a friend hello at the beach is usually acceptable, but not so much at work or in church. We both like PDA, both between us to express our love for one another as well as with friends to show our affection and appreciation for them. We will both hug friends and even people we meet for the first time, same sex or opposite, whether in a nude or textile environment. However we usually only kiss those of the opposite sex as is our preferance which is probably due to our upbringing. We act this way largely so we don't offend those around us, but this is a fine line, becuase we know there are people who are offended by us just being nude and we have no intention of stopping that. So, what to do? We think for the most part as long as we do what is legal in a particular environment we will do OK. We will also fight to defend our liberties so as not to loose them.

Miss_LindaSep 13, 2009If you cannot do something because you are nude that would be perfectly alright if you had clothes on, then what fun would it be to get nude?
ReactReply - MEMemberSep 13, 2009
If you cannot do something because you are nude that would be perfectly alright if you had clothes on, then what fun would it be to get nude?
Bingo, I find that we tend to draw lines when now we have no clothes vs when dressed. I was always raised that somethings are socially acceptable, and some are not, whether you are dressed or not does not change those socially acceptable behaviours. know your audience I guess.ReactReply

CanoodlerNov 27, 2009Well said Linda, I was hugging a new friend goodbye at a nudist resort and kissed her and someone yelled over that we were to stop that. It wasn't a big kiss! Geez, excuse me for living! We weren't grinding in the parking lot!
Oh well, takes all kinds!ReactReply - CO
Curt, or CowboyNov 28, 2009It seems to me that once one gets past the idea that what you happen to be wearing, or not, equals sex, that it all becomes quite clear, and very easy. No, you don't show much at work, largely due to "sexual harassment" laws and exagerated "offense" to perfectly innocent things. I'm afraid these "protective" laws have done much harm to blur the lines in the minds of some, and so have the supposed "nudist etiquite" policies of some, and at some places.
As far as I'm concerned, what you happen to be wearing is completely irrelevant. Unfortunately, common sense is far too uncommon these days.ReactReply - MI

We have a male friend who joins us in watching mostly old B-movies. We all take turns picking, so at least one out of three movies should be interesting to at least one of us, but I digress. Anyway, our textile friend knows that I prefer to stay nude when I can. He has grown used to it and does not seem to pay more or less attention to me now that I go nude most of the time. On one recent visit, he brought a small gift. I gave our textile friend a hug and said thank you. I didn't give a lot of thought to the fact that I was nude, he was clothed and is firmly of the textile persuasion. I just naturally hugged. It was no different than any other hug I have had with any friend, male, female, textile or nudist. In my opinion, that is how it should be.ReactReply - TH

I work at a different church and have seen people hug each other but not as much. I have seen a lot of couples holding hands at both churches, it is just another sign of love. I see a lot of people hug each other as a hello or good bye at the nude beach I go to. There are certain areas where people tend to go back to every time they go and therefore they get to know the others there and become friends. Maybe it is because I am in Texas, whose state name meands friend. LOL ThomasReactReply - TH

blueiron35Dec 2, 2009I really wish i had seen this post before now. It answered a lot of questions i had when I first got here. Questions that seemed pretty good then, now seem extremely ignorant after reading this post. For some reason i felt like greetings and goodbyes would be different just because there were no clothed people. after reading this post it seems silly to think clothes would matter. Just people being people only nude. How cool is that!!!

Curt, or CowboyDec 2, 2009
What it really comes down to is that it's no different than in any clothed social situation. The same parameters for what is appropriate apply in nudist society. If we have close friends whom we greet with a hug, then be it, it is fine to do so when nude. Between couples, too, regardless of their orientation, whatever signs of affection are shown should be regarded with the same level of acceptance and toleration as if we were clothed. In a perfect world we would be nude all the time. As nudists we should, ideally, not have to differentiate between a clothed world and a nude one.
Thank you ! Concise, complete; and accurate, IMHO. Linda said it, but you explained it very well.ReactReply - MEMemberDec 2, 2009
Sorry to say , I don’t agree.
Maybe I am not ready yet , maybe its just me but I have 2 problems with that.
The first is , and I am saying that with full comprehension that nudism is not sexual ( have been practicing socially for a while now) , I just can’t hug my wife when she is nude , much less cuddle or kiss . Maybe it wears off with time, maybe it’s a problem I have with perception but the only way I can deal with it is just by avoiding hugging her when nude ( in public)
Maybe its because she is my wife , don’t know but it generates a problem with me and that’s it.
About other people? Well , in Venezuela people hug and kiss when they say hi or good bye.
(women and men , men to men just shake hand)
Though yes , when we meet at the nude we still hug and kiss , sometimes it makes me uncomfortable, from the start I am a person who doesn’t like to touch or be touched ( yes , I know , weirdo…) , then when in the nude , more so.
That’s me.ReactReply - VS
Violet Sun GoddessFeb 18, 2010I can't imagin going anywhere and not being able to kiss my Hubby and hold his hand or snuggle a bit. I must cuddle as much as i can and I love all hugs. I would glue myself to my Hubby if it would be in any way practical or unpainful (if tape hurts what would the glew do?)

Cheri Donna DawsonFeb 18, 2010Our skin really does need hugs to survive. If I haven't seen a friend (male or female) for a while and we then greet each other. I need my hugs.
I do kiss my husband in public but I don't go overboard.

Violet Sun GoddessFeb 18, 2010I have only gone overboard with kissing my Hubby in public a few times and it was usually in the large movie parking lot by our car and on our anniversery. He likes to be spontanious sometimes on our romantic nights out at the movies or something. most pople don't see or dont care one way or the other. It is not like real heavey just some playfulness and longer kissing like sort of in the movies or something. We have even inspired other couples to get closer to each other and we all giggle over the fun of it. Its not like we are in someones lobby or anything that would just be too much. I don't think i even hold hands with Hubby in office buildings.

JackNeilsonFeb 18, 2010My late wife and I used to spontaneously hug many times per day or even touch a shoulder. We usually walked hand in hand and I told her I loved her more times than I can count. Most of our friends thought this was great and some said in confidence that they wished their spouse was more demonstrative in this way. After 40 years together this is one of my fondest memories.

JackNeilsonFeb 18, 2010Like Cheri I usually hug friends when we meet. Most women accept a friendly hug, some a handshake while many men prefer a strong handshake. A few casual male friends don't have an aversion to a quick hug and 99% of the time when I meet an ex military friend we hug strongly. Military people have a strong bond due to shared experiences and know that this is a non-sexual love which civilians can't really understand. Sorry, I think I am getting off the track of the original post here. In any case whether a person is clothed or nude as long as it is obviously non sexual in nature or likely to be construed as such why should anyone really be concerned. Just my two cents.

Curt, or CowboyFeb 20, 2010My very first visit to a resort, I go to liking Tim and Jen a bit. We got along great. ( just to show it's not the "our Jen" here on this site )
When it came time to leave, Jen ran over and gave me a really nice bear hug. A bit of a shock to me, as it *was* my first social visit anywhere, but perfectly innocent, and one of my more memorable moments.
Yeah, I was "taken aback" as it was my first visit, first socially nude experience, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.ReactReply - MEMemberFeb 20, 2010
My very first visit to a resort, I go to liking Tim and Jen a bit.
