When I'm with friends and we're clothed, we sometimes get onto the subject of sex. Is it okay to have sex discussions among friends even when we're nude?

SteveAug 31, 2018Sure. Be a bit more restrained if you have someone(s) in the group who is just getting comfortable being socially naked, so they don't think the sex talk is tied to the nudity.

TJAug 31, 2018A neurotic attitude about the naked human body on society's part does not constitute a neutering of sexual desire on my part.
So yeah. Hell yeah, I'd say. I might even make rather a point of it under the right circumstances because sometimes cages need to be rattled.
The desperate dances we do to try to prove ourselves to the mainstream population leave us hobbling and curt off from embracing our wonderful, passionate sexual selves.
It is a drive like hunger and essential to our survival, but it's also a thing that goes a long way toward simply making life worth living.
As far as I am concerned, the same principle applies here as it does to the sentiment among some gay folks at Pride Parades that they should shun the drag queens and go go boys and present their finest suit and tie selves to impress the masses.
Screw that.
It isn't on them to have to win the tolerance of the larger society. It's up the larger society to stop being assholes.
I realize the world rarely works this way, but it is the way that is right, so it is the battle cry I will continue to shout.
There's nothing wrong with the gays and there's nothing wrong with the nudists, and both deserve and have a right to embrace the gift of their passions.
Society just needs to grow up and get its shit together.

So long as you behave yourself in public you can obviously talk about anything you like (even trainspotting and sport if you want).ReactReply - SA
Stone AndySep 23, 2018In the US there's a taboo against talking about sex, religions and politics. It's a clothed taboo, and being naked is also a taboo. One can wonder: is talking about sex while naked a double taboo, or a double negative which makes it perfectly neutral? I'll go for the second one.
As far as facing taboos, I've been realizing how not allowing people to talk about things is a way to control them. Instead of discussion an issue directly, much is inferred and that way people's thoughts are manipulated.
Taking the taboo off what we can discuss - and wear - leaves things and people more open, honest and vulnerable, and it's all good.ReactReply - T=

JimSep 23, 2018
USA Taboos? Since when? My friends and I often talk about sex, religions and politics.
You and your friends may not be a representative sample, and obviously there is a wide range of thinking and behaviour BUT, if you compare US media to French, or even Canadian media (print and television network especially) the line between what is socially or morally acceptable and what is considered lewd, immoral or pornographic is much tighter to the conservative end of the spectrum. The US has a particular brand of puritanism that is deeply institutionalized in a way it is not in other liberal democracies. Think of the Janet Jackson nipplegate non-event. In what other similar country would that be an issue? These ideas work themselves into the commentary, social policy and attitudes of lots of people. I don't think it's an accident that the locker room towel dance epicenter of the whole world is the US. although English Canada is not far behind. There is also this strange mix of absolute objectification and excessive modesty (at least in principle, I don't know if anyone takes it seriously outside evangelical circles) that creates lots of body shame and sexual shame as much as a way to sell stuff as a means of social control.ReactReply - MEMemberSep 23, 2018
Why not? I discuss naked exactly the same topics as when I am dressed. There is no reason not to do this.

KaitlinSep 23, 2018I was tempted to just jump straight in and answer the question and give my own perspectives but fortunately I'm not alone right now so I was advised to read all the comments from the rest of you and I'm glad I did.
Firstly because I have found the comments really interesting but also because i would have really just been wasting my time because a lot of what the rest of you have already said really resonates with both of us and at this time I would have just been repeating most of what has already been said.So I'll save my thoughts on this for another time but really great thought provoking subject and question so thank you.

I agree with the other posts here...everyone has their own comfort level...keep it within those bounds and you're fine. That said...my trips to resorts and conversation with other nudists have never resulted in sex topics. I'm sure it happens and fully expect to encounter it in the future.

John EnglishOct 7, 2018I think the oddest discussion I ever had was when I was at a club around the pool and the woman next to me said how could she get her husband to go smooth like I was she said it looked great on me and was wondering it my wife like it that way and if it was better in the bedroom

TravellingbizguyJan 23, 2020We are men and we all have sex. The problem is that most men do not talk about sex with their friends, unless it's to speak of our accomplishments or compare notes. We don't talk about the problems we can all be having with different aspects of sex, getting older, erections not being as firm as they used to or last as long etc.

RodApr 2, 2020There's appropriate ways to talk about anything and everything. I've had naked and clothed discussions that have been both appropriate and inappropriate. But tbh I'm usually an anything goes type of person when it comes to discussions.

CraigApr 2, 2020Ok, let's be honest. If you are sitting with a group of people, all of which are naked, the sex topic will inevitably come up. I have a very close group of nudist friends. We have gathered together for parties, camping, boating and vacations for many years. If you think for one second you can be naked with a very close friend and not talk honestly about sex, you are kidding yourself.
We are not swingers but nudity mixed with some adult beverages and sprinkled with close friends may lead to things. It just does, it has happened and so what.
My friend Gail showed up at a party and I noticed she had grown out her pubic hair and had actually "Styled" it? Maybe" If that's what you call it? It was colored for the party, Black and Orange like a pumpkin. She said it was her costume for the naked Halloween Party. How cool! Only at a nudist can you comment that you like someone pubes.
Yes, sex and nudity can live in harmony. People tend to be more honest when they are naked. Nothing to hide. The topic of sex will come and does and when it does just treat it as if it came up in a bar when everyone was dressed.ReactReply - EA

Agreed what does being naked have to do with the subject - nothing just a ruse to get people talking about sex.ReactReply - MEMemberApr 6, 2020
I would say how you discuss sex when practicing nudism differs in no way as to how you would if clothed. The same rules apply to polite conversation clothed or nude. I probably only discuss sex with romantic partners and close friends I've known more than multiple years. So if I was nude or clothed with these people I might talk about sex if it happened to come up.
Being socially nude isn't license to talk publicly and carelessly about sex though. You need to know your audience, most people would be put-off by random sex talk from a stranger and I could see getting booted from nudist properties as well.
Certainly you wouldn't want to talk about it in front of new nudists or those curious about nudism, these people are gaining their first impression of non-sexual social nudity and you would be giving them the wrong first impression. And not only would they have a bad/wrong first impression, they will tell their friends and their friends friend's about their bad first impression and so on and so forth. So it really hurts non-sexual social nudity.
Unless it's specifically someone you would normally talk to about sex in the normal world, you're best off keeping it to yourself.
