Thanks for the correction. I am Panamanian I learned the English language in 1 month. Did not have time to be correct. I fondle on words all the time.
I Usually tell people that I don't need to look to smart. It is usually more embarrassing that I am also from somewhere else.

CraigSJun 15, 2011While I agree his nonsensical ramblings are rather disturbed and a bit odd I cannot help but wonder why if the masses here are so offended and angered by him why they simply just don't pass by his posts and ignore him? Why bash him? Why give him the attention he is so obviously wanting. Perhaps he is a genius and just so unable to get past the flood of thoughts and emotions so his posts seem to be ‘out of the norm’. There have been many in history that have been so intelligent that they are unable to function on their own or interact appropriately with society.

I've seen forums, email lists, and news groups shut down when there was no moderation or policing and they became utterly unusable when clogged up with spam, or offensive behavior/content. I was trying to use the site this week when I saw him post a spam post three times in a row, and it pushed a number of real threads completely off the homepage. I think the site admin deleted at least two of the duplicate posts, but it won't take much of that going on before he renders the site unsuable and potential new members will figure the forum is just spam and not worthy of interacting with. I had discontinued responding to this thread and anything else of his until I saw people slamming the folks who criticized MannyOceans. I'd like those active in the forum to be aware of what he's been doing, and to flag him each time he posts spam or offtopic responses on threads. And I referred to the 'band of bigots' so if you have self identified with that band then that is a matter for you. Bigot: a person who holds an opinion or belief obstinately and is intolerant of other people's opinions. Hasn't that been the point I have been trying to make? What other word would you use for this? It is now estimated that more people in the world speak English as a second language as speak it as a first. Clearly the dominance of US media, particularly films has helped with the spread of English, but the US is only one place where it is spoken. It also has a lot to do with the reach of what was once known as the British Empire which, as you will know, was the largest there has ever been and covered 1/3rd of the globe. Many Brits also do not speak a language other than English, mainly because as everyone else generally learns English, learning another language is not given such priority here, or at least was not when I was young. To be fair what language should your students or us learn? Spanish?, Manderin?, Klingon?!!! The one uniform language in India is English, its probably the same in China, certainly in the most advanced parts of China such as Hong Kong and Shanghi. Both these places had major input from Great Britain. The rest of the world is not learning English because Americans or Brits won't learn a foreign language. They are learning it because the rest of the world is learning it!ReactReply

Other than the last about English, they constantly tell others to stop doing what you do copiously. Believe me, others notice. NiMa, your post was fine and was NOT insulting at all but informative and helpful. It blows me away that people can read so much into such a concise, clear bit of useful info. Everyone has to try to understand that there are lots of people who only want the best for this site which means they will try to fix problems and misuse. There is LOTS of misuse, including by MannyOceans. A few goofy comments on his brain power should probably go unanswered. They were unkind. But not everyone deserves our respect. Lots practically demand a dressing-down. As Manny himself said, he's only here for the women and thinks by tooting his own rather tenuous horn, they will flock. Please, Manny, if you're reading this, let us know how that's working for you!

Somers, on another note, more than once you derided (look it up) NiMa for making up words. Did you even bother to check behooves online? Do you own a dictionary? It's in mine! It means to benefit. And you would benefit from less caustic remarks and more thoughtful care. Please stop attacking others for attacking others. It's laughable.
