I have not been able to find a cock sock to buy in order to protect my penis and balls from the sun.
Where are they available? Recommendations?
Is sunblock sufficient?
Thank you.

bluebermudaApr 1, 2010I am sorry but that is just ridiculous. I enjoy complete nudity however it is not yet socially acceptable to be nude in public except in designated areas such a Haulover Beach in Miami. Until public nudity is accepted in America, as it is in many places in Europe, a cock sock offers a reasonable interim solution. They are so small and light that you can experience a nude feeling and still be within the law. While wearing a cock sock may be a baby step toward the day when public nudity is accepted in America, it is nevertheless a step in the right direction.

mallardm45Nov 4, 2010Although this could very well be a legitimate question I would have said a "Penis Cover" the terms used were a little too crude for a real situation here on TN. However a good sunscreen would be sufficient. I would think if you wore something like a Banana Peal at the beach or resort folks would shy away from you and think your a bit too weird to socialize with. These items are yet to be incorperated into the main stream of things. Good Luck

marli457Nov 6, 2010Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack the thread onto the merits of sun vs tanning beds.....but, & there's always a but, I believe the issue is that we are out & about in the sun most of the time & that tanning beds/solariums are just an avoidable exposure to harmful UV. That said it is, as is in most cases, more problematic for young people. The older we get the better our skin is at dealing with UV....within limits.
I must come clean & admit I haven't read every post in this thread as it is two years old & it must have answered the original question by now.
So back to my question.......what constitutes a "legal" form of nudity for the World Naked Bike Ride ?ReactReply - CO
Curt, or CowboyNov 6, 2010
if your going to cover the genitals thats defeats the purpose of nudism wear pants
'Scuse me ?? Seems one of us has an askew idea of what nudism is all about.
way to make a publicly visible nude statement yet keep us out of the lock-up & the courts
Methinks you'ld have to read the letter of the law, and have a clue how it's interpreted. Where I am, the law calls for an "opaque covering" and I've yet to know of anyone testing this with an opaque body paint, though I think it could be argued that it *would* be technically legal. Letter of the law seems to be dominant in the USA, and trumps common sense, since Clinton anyway.ReactReply - MA

Thank you Curt for your considered response. As in most human activity reading the letter of the law does not necessarily translate to how a Police officer may behave on a given day, as you may also note I have mentioned that the Police interpret & apply the law in an ad hoc way in Australia........especially in the emotive issue of public nudity. It is great to read that World Naked Bike Riders in the USA only need an opaque covering. It is also great to read that the letter of the law trumps common sense in the USA as we all know that "common sense" is an arbitrary construct & in a multicultural society does not exist as there are so many cultural interpretations. We no longer use the term "common sense" in many of our jurisdictional policies as it has been found to be non existent.
Further, my real motive is to make a public statement on the day of the WNBR yet avoid testing the letter of the law in a Police Station/Watch House or before a Court of LawReactReply - OC

marli457Nov 8, 2010two years on & you are still responding to it. What is silly is that you can be bothered........of course, I have an ulterior motive to keep this alive.......I am promoting the World Naked Bike Ride & using any fora to get the message to front of mind. See you all on your bikes next March

shavednudeJan 28, 2011Thanks for the online site info - good to know where they can be purchased. But for most nudist activities I think the use of an adequate amount of sun block should be sufficient.

MichaelMay 15, 2011This is actually not really an issue unless you burn all over, in which case you should be well versed with sunblock anyway. Ever notice how your penis is always darker than the rest of your body even though it's covered more often? I've burned down there once, and it was my balls not my penis. If you want to really prevent the burn just use sunblock, if you for some reason still end up burning, there is an easy remedy for any sunburned area if you have the grit to do it. Immediately take a hot shower or bath, as hot as you can stand for as long as you can stand. It will burn and be a little uncomfortable, but it will help remove the heat from your burn without causing you to peel. It also takes away the redness. Basically goodbye lobster and goodbye scales. There's actually scientific reason behind this, something along the line of how hot and cold works. When you burn your skin normally like you put your hand on the stove or in a pot of boiling water or something along the line your knee jerk reaction is to put your hand under ice cold water. This is the wrong thing to do. While you are supposed to cool your skin down to stop the burning cooling it down too quickly can leave you pulling your hand out of the water minus your first layer of skin. Now of course this is a less severe burn than one from a stove or from scalding water, but the same applies.
Cold water drives a burn into your skin, hot water draws it out.
I can personally attest that this has worked for me every time. Sometimes it takes 2-3 hot showers to completely remove the burning, but it works. I found it out by accident then googled to make sure i wasn't just assuming I was right. I used to get sunburned all the time because I didn't recognize that that tight feeling in my skin meant I was about to get all sorts of burned... then I'd go home and forget about the burn, take a hot bath, and remember fairly quickly. However, I took it anyway, and when I'd get out I'd discover that it hurt far less than when I got in, and that when I did this I didn't peel.
I mean wear your cocksock if you want they make nude bodysocks pretty commonly, but I would just wear sunblock and make with the hot showers.

If you want to avoid a burn I suppose you can wear clothes! We naturist prefer not. Treat all your skin the same. If you decide a cock sock is needed just put on your clothes or go inside.
