I went to Gunnison today, As I was getting out of the car, another car pulled up to me and a man got out. He was wearing only two triangles of cloth covering the rear and crotch and attached to a narrow waistband. I asked him if he bought it or made it. He said he took an old t-shirt, cut off the bottom and pulled a thin elastic strip through the bottom hem. He then opened the sides and cut away as much as possible without causing indecent exposure. When you are done, you are (just) adequately covered yet completely hanging free underneath.
By the way, even with such minimal coverage he took it off as soon as he was out of sight of the road.
I didn't think of it at the time, but this is really a 2 for 1, since the top of the shirt can be worn as a cropped top when you have to wear a shirt but don't want to.

Sarong is a good idea. I just bring a colorful lightweight Turkish towel and wrap it around my waist sarong style. Its much lighter than a regular towel and dries off fast when you use it after swimming. Since I usually bicycle to the beach, lightweight and easily packable items are best.

We were watching The Lord Of The Rings last night, it occurred to me that the character Gollum only ever wears a little wedge of cloth to cover his nakedness.

Which is how I imagine the men who want to wear such things looking.

Much more Smeagol and a lot less Tarzan.

It seems that bare backsides are becoming more common and acceptable according to what I see in beach videos. Perhaps, all you really need is to fold your towel over your arm and carry it in front of you or use both hands to carry your cooler. Can't get much more minimal than that.

Can't get much more minimal than that.[/quote] I don't bring a cooler. I have beach chair shoulder straps and a large pouch for lunch, towel, sunscreen and reading material. Maybe I should try wearing it backwards and skip the clothing completely!

A friend of mine who knows I like to be minimally clothed asked if I was going to drive it in a swim brief with the top down. I replied that since I was sitting down I might as well wear a g string. In actuality I have driven my convertible with the top down quite a few times in a swim brief, but never in a g string or nude. Perhaps if I could walk to the beach in the g string it would give me incentive to drive that way with the top down.

When I tried it, there were no such situations encountered. It was even quiet enough to get out in our driveway and enter the house. :-D

Those should pass any test. I'd prefer the lined bit to use skin-tone lining, though, so that the pouch area looks the same. I'll stick to loose running shorts in lieu of those, though. :-)

I have done the same. Tshirt, shoes (usually flip flops) and nothing else. Gas stations , rest areas, bars, restaurants, beach. Its a great feeling. What I prefer, when I have to cover up, is a large, extra long t-shirt, which I have been using for several years. Ive gone out in public numerous time wearing jut that t-shirt and a pair of sandals with no problems. Im sure some people think Im weird, but I dont worry about that. I also use it to cover up when I answer the door. No one has ever commented about it. And it has a pocket.[/quote]

I am much more comfortable with some sort of waistband than have my chest, back and shoulders covered by a shirt, but to each his own! Actually, if I had my way, I would only wear a shirt from May through September for church, theaters, concert halls, upscale restaurants and public transportation!

You two have got some cheek, putting others down for being creative. Simple point of fact, he was covered enough to not warrant arrest for lewdness. So where the F is that causing you two a problem ? Or is it that neither of you can keep those lips closed long enough for someone else to get a word in. You pair don't have or know the rule book on nudism/naturism, so keep your SAD opinions to yourselves, the rest of us don't want your negativity.
