I'm now in my early 70s and I keep waking up about 1am in the mornings with a huge erection. I have gotten up occasionally to masturbate and it feels great to relieve all that pressure. I usually don't get up in fear of waking my wife up. My doctor says it's up to me whether to relieve myself or not. Has anyone in this age group had the same erections at 1am in the morning? Thanks for your comments and experiences.

SteveJun 28, 2019The wee-hours erections never go away as long as you are healthy, regardless of age. (Diabetes can suppress them.) One old-fashioned test for sexual health was to wrap some postage stamps around the relevant body part overnight - if the perforations are burst in the morning, you are good to go - no physical issues at play. I think the advantage at our age is not the arousal, but the light sleep that lets us perceive and appreciate it. For me, if my partner doesn't stir, I just enjoy the feeling and cuddle a little closer until morning. Younger people tend to have sex in the evenings; that switches to mornings for us oldsters - and I think the nighttime arousal is a reason (along with not having to dash out the door for work!)

Many if not most of us were brought up with the adage that if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all. Mark Twain said something like this: It is better to remain silent and appear to be a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. I suppose that can be translated to print as well. Since I have been in this forum, you have removed a lot of doubt.ReactReply

NAME CALLING
The study of psychology teaches us that when someone resorts to name calling, it usually speaks to feelings of inferiority and a feeling of inadequacy of the person doing the name calling. People stoop to the process of name calling when they feel lesser and need to make themselves feel more powerful.
When this tactic is used instead of an argument, name calling is thus a childish substitute for rational, fact-based arguments.ReactReply - NUnudeyooperJul 8, 2019[quote]Oh Goodie. let's talk about our peepeesWhy do you have to be a jerk and come out with a stupid, childish remark ? I think it is funny how many threads there are about erections and penis'. not one thread about breasts or vaginas. little boys love talking about their peepees. girls don't devote threads to talk about their boobs or pussies. if you don't like my comments, mind your own business and don't read them.ReactReply - TETewaOriginal PosterJul 11, 2019
Thanks everyone for your comments and humor....I was asking a serious question. Since it's my first time at age 70 I was interested in finding out if these erections normally occur to men at this age and do you masturbate or have sex. Thanks again.

Terry CJul 18, 2019Medically speaking, it is a regular item to have your penis go through increases in blood volume to keep your penis healthy. I believe the average during sleep is about 3-4 times. Hence you have nothing unusual
Going on. As you may know it is not uncommon to wake up with a solid erection called morning wood. Be thankful this is happening! A nude M.D.ReactReply - TC

JohnJul 19, 2019I seem to recall that the ability to sustain an erection is a crude indicator of one's general state of health and it has been postulated that this may have been used in the early evolution of mankind as a method by which a woman could judge whether a potential sexual partner would be able to support herself during pregnancy and child rearing.
See "The Selfish Gene" by Richard Dawkins.P.S. I am happy to be able to state that at the age of 75 my penis responds positively to my wife's presence - even when sex is not on the agenda.ReactReply - SUsuncitynudistJul 21, 2019
