As someone who is new to nudism, I would like to begin exploring the many different areas where nudism is openly acceptable. However, I'm a bit reluctant to go anywhere out of my comfort zone. Recently, I've grown more comfortable with communal gang showers between the same sex and have found that I actually enjoyed being in that type of environment. My question is can any one recommend a gym or recreational center. In the northeast where the locker ion has open showers with the same sex, such as a YMCA?

You may want to search out an older facility that has not converted.ReactReply - MEMemberJul 11, 2016

As someone who is new to nudism, I would like to begin exploring the many different areas where nudism is openly acceptable. DesertRatJul 19, 2016One of the things that I enjoy about social nudism is the fact that people are interacting normally with each other and are completely oblivious to the fact that they are nude. Being in a shower with someone of the opposite sex is something never experienced in the textile world. In the nudist world, it is very common.ReactReply - MEMemberJul 19, 2016
As someone who is new to nudism, I would like to begin exploring the many different areas where nudism is openly acceptable. I'd recommend completing your profile.2.) The one place where nudity is most openly accepted, it seems to me; is a nudist club. People will understand your 'newness' and it won't be a covert operation like going to a public shower for the sake of trying nudism.ReactReply

Going to a public shower or something like that and hanging around might put off the wrong vibe. When I realized I enjoyed being nude, I went to a nudist beach. That is when I got hooked.ReactReply - SUsunnmaxxJul 20, 2016Its a shame most of the health clubs have gone to individual showers, does not help the body shame issues at all. We really enjoy the co-ed showers at our favorite resort, I think there are six shower heads and its great when they are all in use. It's outdoors too.ReactReply

renebbareAug 6, 2016
I very much agree. Private showers are rediculous.
I would disagree. Showers are for cleaning oneself not for others to view.
As nudists we don't mind public nudity but why would we force that on others?ReactReply - GA
Gambit39Sep 3, 2016The vast majority of people I know prefer open showers, nudists and other. People that don't want to be seen in the shower can shower at home. Most of them already do, even with the private stalls.

If you happend to be in the buffalo NY area I would highly recommend the University of Buffalo South campus in Amherst NY athletic center. The facility is open to the public and has a really nice size pool indoor track weights Locker room is the largest I have ever seen. Steam room and sauna are in the men lockeroom The communal shower area is all totally open has about dozen pole type showers. So if you interested in spending a week or 2 this place would be it.

MikeDec 20, 2017I used to workout at a local recreation center and they had open showers. Which when I go to other gyms I have mostly seen single showers with doors and curtains. I have also seen a open shower with curtains around the shower heads with just enough room to stand in. I think that there should be more places with open showers.

Most of the open showers at gyms that I remember usually had 2 or 3 private stalls over to the side if there was a modesty issue. Now the new Y has nothing but single showers and if you want to keep talking to your buddy, it's kind of awkward.
