Fond memories of showering with my Father.
Just curious if anyone has any experience, thoughts or stories of showering with their father or grandfather.
My father and I showered together from when I was very young until high school. My family was always Naked and or in our underwear when in our home. This seemed very normal and common in the 1970s. Nudity was not uncommon or looked at as offensive in any nature.
I even remember showering with my best friend and his Father when I stayed the night at their house, went to the beach, or camping when they offered shower facilities.
Now as an adult, I often think about these days as great memories. These are the days when MEN were required to be Naked at the YMCA, as well. Love to be Naked!!
Wish the YMCA would go back to requiring men to be Naked in all pools, sauna, and steam room.

My dad and I were nudists growing up and we showered together until I went to college. My close friends would be nude when they came over and also showered with us when they would spend the night. For me, nudity, and showering with my father, was normal, natural and a wonderful bonding experience. I can't imagine growing up any other way

I only recall showering once with my dad when we were on a family vacation. I think I was about 8 years old. We were camping and I think we showered together to save money since the campground had pay showers. It was either due to that or maybe my parents didnt want or think I could/should be in the showers alone.

My brother and I accompanied my dad to the shower in the basement once, with the objective of teaching us how to take a proper shower to really get clean (unlike a quick rinse at the public pool). . I think at my mothers request, so she didnt have to clean the bathtub so often. Its sort of a neutral memory, more utilitarian than enjoyable experience. But it was helpful when a few years later I was showering with other 7th graders after gym. Then roup showers five days a week for many years.

Hope, one day, it comes back being naked at YMCA. Should be a duty being nude at locations like pools, spa, Gym and other locations where physical things are practise.

I never did shower with my Dad but we took sauna together all throughout my childhood and into adulthood fully bare ass naked and with my brothers too when we were young kids.
Wed get all sweaty and then run into the lake to cool down, and have a beer or two (as adults) in the change room or front porch all the while fully bare naked in front of each other. Great memories!

I never had the opportunity to shower with my dad but I loved the group showers in high School and at the gym. I coached Middle School and high School football for 8 years and showered with the players on many occasions. Great visual memories.

Shame so many open showers have disappeared. I find it ironic that so many at gyms, IF they use the lockerroom, do the towel dance, nearly hurting themselves or falling over so that y they are not nudeyet these same people have zero concerns with seeing nude selfies!

We lived in an apartment with just a shower until I was 6, we lived in an apartment with just a shower, but my parents though that I was too you g to use it, so I bathed in the laundry sink.
When I got to be about 4, it was getting crowded in there so my mother would sometimes send me to my grandparent's house to take a better bath there.
He would shave while I soaked in the tub and then help me wash up.
Sometimes he wore boxers and sometimes he was nude.
This gave me my first experience of what I could expect to look like when I got older, since I essentially never saw my father nude.
After that, my dad and I usually bathed and never did so together.

Either way, both scenarios sound like a wonderful bonding moment for granddad and grandson, especially with your parents, who acted as though they were scared to show themselves to you nude. At least your grandpa wasn't so silly about letting you see his true self. I'm so glad my family always lived in places with a bathtub - one of my earliest memories was being the pilot of the bathtub plane with my three sisters splashing in the bubbles and laughing behind me! To this day, I still need to soak away my problems in a warm bath on a regular basis. I'm happy that you eventually found nudism on your own, even though it ended up being so much later in life. Children who aren't hidden away from the natural human state come to understand their own bodies better and faster, and in my book, that is an imperative for those kids in avoiding many unhealthy body image issues which often don't show up until the first tinklings of puberty. Constantly hiding the adult body away from children gives bareness a mystique that can become a focusing agent for their young, impressionable minds, telling them non-verbally that they need to hide themselves away, too. What a disservice to them, and sadly, also an excellent way to teach them the destructive lie that hiding behind walls or clothes is healthy, when the exact opposite is true! The body they have is beautiful and should be gleefully displayed and celebrated, not concealed or allowed to cause any bit of shame. I've said it many times - a nudist upbringing makes for a better human being!

I did some skinny dipping as a boy scout at camp and as a teen with a friend of mine with a pool, the latter only when his parents weren't home as sometimes there were several other teen boys there with you. But back then in the 60's and 70's males swimming nude when women weren't around wasn't considered nudity, it was just the culture. When my friend started traveling without his parents, he noticed that when he called home, he noticed that his parents often mentioned having been in their pool, although they rarely were otherwise, He asked his dad why, who told my friend they didn't wear swimsuits when he was out of town. After I moved out of town, my friend became a dedicated nudist. We talked about meeting at a beach sometime, but it never happened. Knowing he enjoyed it was one of the things that encouraged me to try.

After that, my dad and I usually bathed and never did so together.[/quote] My parents were absolute prudes when it came to nudity. I remember my family going swimming all together one time, our neighbors were out of town and we were watching their farm and tending the animals for them. They said we could use the pool if we wanted. My mom didn't even own a single pair of shorts, so she cut off a pair of her old jeans and wore a t-shirt because she never owned a bathing suit either. I think much of this was due to my father never wanting her to show off her body in anyway, it was either pants or long dresses. I knew no one who was a nudist, I didn't even meet my mother's parents until I was 8 and had no kind of relationship with them. My dad's mom lived with us, but she was paralyzed in a wheelchair and my dad's dad was an awful human who we saw about once a year for father's day. So definitely no grandpas who were into nudity either. Even with all that I still started disrobing at age 8. It would have been great to have had my dad or grandpa to guide me down the path of nudism, but alas. So I taught myself the love of being bare, and now I have passed it on to my children, and they are lucky enough to have a "naked grandma and grandpa" (chosen family) to help guide them in the clothes free life. Maybe one day I'll be the grandpa teaching my grandkids the love of nudism.

There were a few times when we stopped in unexpectedly at my grandfather's he would mention that he took so long to answer the door because he had to run upstairs and put some clothes on first. Like many men of that time period, being naked with other men was fine with him, but being nude in front of women was not. He also mentioned that he always did his evening exercises nude, The last 3 years my parents lived in their own house, my mother had difficultly climbing stairs and slept on a bed in the study, My father continued to sleep in the upstairs master bedroom. I noticed a few times when I was visiting that my father slept and traveled between bedroom and bathroom in just boxer shorts in warm weather. Apparantly the expectation of men wearing 2 piece pajama sets was my mother's, And yes it was my maternal grandmother who lived in our neighborhood.

Unfortunately, I never took a bath with my father. My family was very conservative, even when it came to exposing our bodies! I discovered nudism as an adult, and maybe that's why I don't mind taking a bath with the door open at home. Whenever I can, I take a bath with my children too. Although my wife is not a nudist, she doesn't object to it!

The first item I showered with my dad I was about 6 or 7 we were camping. I remember my father getting my brothers and I together and walking to the shower room where we all got naked and took a shower together. Up until that time I had only showered with my brothers but showering with my father would become a normal thing at home also. It didn't happen all the time but there were times when my dad would go to take his shower and ask my brother's and I if one of us wanted to shower with him and we'd all say "I do!" but he could only fit one of us in the shower so we'd take turns depending on who last showered with him unless we didn't want to. Nudity in my house was never something looked down on, I was never taught or told to "cover up so no one will see you naked" so walking from room to room in our house naked or changing in front of each other wasn't a big deal. Even when I'd spend the night at my cousins we'd shower together or he'd shower with us at our house. I even showered with friends at their homes when staying over and that was always a blast of fun. I also had to shower at school when I started Jr. high at 10 years old after P.E. class. It's a shame that schools no longer require students to shower after gym class anymore. I'm glad I was brought up in a time where nudity wasn't such an issue with people.

When I was a kid we used to go camping for 2 weeks every summer with my extended family. When we were small my dad would take my two brothers and I to the shower room and we would all shower together. Occasionally some of my cousins would join us as well. It always seemed very normal to me and we didn't think twice about it.

When I was very young, we bathed in the bathtub, and as I recall my mother supervised that. I think I was probably eight years old when my younger brother and I accompanied my dad to the shower in the basement, mostly to get instruction on how to take a shower. I dont recall being particularly intrigued by the nudity aspect. I probably had seen my dad nude changing to swim or such. We definitely werent nudists at home. My appreciation of nudity, solo and social, came later, but never associated with family.

In Finland we had a sauna in our house, so the whole fam would sauna and shower naked together every Friday. Even if I had friends around, they would join us, or if I went round my mates house on summer house, their dad would take us skinny dipping and sauna bathing. There were never swimwear involved. So I have showered with dad, uncles, brothers and friends dads. When bigger groups, the men and women would usually separate. Dad and grandads take sons, and mothers daughters. Often cause of socialising rather than anything else.
