Reading thro many topics on here, and also from the odd venture into the chat rooms, and conversations on other naturist sites, I feel it worth asking the question as to what people's (particularly men's) motivation is for developing a nude lifestyle, especially when it comes to social nudity. Is it just an everyday part of life, or is it something that holds a certain thrill for you that goes beyond just simple enjoyment?
Be honest.
How many guys are naturists simply because they are more comfortable and relaxed that way, and are happy to socialise with other nude folk purely and simply on that basis?
Or how many of you actually like to be naked with other people so you can show off your body and get a good look at other people's?
Even more telling, how many of you are secretly (or not so secretly) hoping for some kind of sexual encounter as a result of being naked around other nudists? Do you relish getting an erection and showing it off to others? Are you always hoping the other men in the shower/on the beach/ in the sauna will also be sporting stiffies - or that someone (be that male or female) will initiate some form of sexual activity?
And where (if anywhere) do you feel the line should be drawn between what is classed as 'simple social naturism' and 'exhibitionism' or 'cruising'?

StevenNov 3, 2025I feel a lot more comfortable without textiles around my body. Especially I hate to wear swimwear, wich in my opinion is the most stupid invention ever.
I do not care who can see me naked nor do I have a problem to socialise naked. As i spend mos of my days naked in summer as in winter i guess it is about normal.
However I must admid that when I have been in situations where I have been dressed for some days on a row, it feels strange to leave the textile again.ReactReply - CR
CruzeyDec 12, 2025It is more comfortable than clothing, particularly hot, sweaty or wet clothing. Swimming naked is so good in comparison, it seems hard to comprehend ever wearing a costume, particularly sitting in the sun with wet cloth stopping you from drying. I find trousers in particular often pinch my skin and lead to an uncomfortable week until the welt goes away.
Also it is the ultimate form of acceptance. I have been shy about revealing myself fully, but in a naturist environment it is about self-acceptance and acceptance of all those around you, without making comments on the bodies of other's.
I am horrified at the idea of exhibitionism and would have nothing to do with a person who exhibited that trait. The Clubs I belong to would eject you and terminate your membership if you flaunted yourself sexually or exposed any form of sexual activity, including a public erection on display. It may initially be men's greatest fear, but if you are there for the right reasons it is not going to be a problem.Online articles about naturist venues, say you should never go there expecting to find a sexual partner. It does happen, but like most venues, you are more likely to find a compatible partner when you are not looking. I did find a partner, but looking was never further from my mind. It does make scheduling visits a no-brainer when the weather is good, and eliminates an uncomfortable attempt at conversion or introducing a partner to a new concept. But still, if you are fully compatible in a myriad of ways, then those situations should be easier. It's all about being yourself and not pretending to be something you're not.

Separating these two social naturism' and 'exhibitionism If you become a nudist you are allowing or exhibiting to others to see parts of your body that would normally not be seen by others.
Drawing a line how , where, by the use of a moderator, who would not be in agreement with others it would be his or her definition of the difference between social nudism and exhibitionism.
I suppose one could define the difference as deliberately emphasising and drawing attention to one part of the body.
