Would most of us be comfortable walking into a grocery store nude if 99.9 percent of the folks around us were clothed. It would definately need to be warm outside.

I live in Scotland and it is "supposed" to be legal to be naked here, but we all know the problems the Naked Rambler had when he tried to walk the length of the country in the nude.
Some years ago, I read an article on public nudity and it seems to be the same law in Scotland as in England (We Scots have a quite separate legal system) but it is applied differently here. In both countries, the naked person can be arrested if there is a "complaint from a member of the public". The difference between the two countries, is that in a test case in a Scottish Court, a "policeman is considered to be a member of the public".
Because of this, it means that a policeman here can actually arrest a naked personwithout an official complaintbeing made and solely because of their own views being "a member of the public."

In many European countries nudism is legal but there are relatively few incidents of nudists appearing in public. Nudists as a whole, generally are respectful of the feelings of others so they do not flaunt their nudity.ReactReply - MA

That puts the legality of nudity on a very unstable basis. where it's legal or not based on the whim of whoever happens to see a person nude.

There is a big difference between legal and acceptable, and I am not sure what needs to come first. In my neighborhood, it is perfectly legal for old fat guys to wear extremely minimalist clothing, i.e. a pair of bikini briefs, but the norm suggests shorts with at least a couple inches of leg and a t-shirt. I've pushed that norm, but only on extremely hot and humid days of working in the yard.

Most of my neighbors wear shirts i their yard, but I still don't. I keep my shorts at mid-thigh since I don't wear underwear. Back in the 79's and 80's before I stopped wearing underwear and shorter shorts were more common, I would wear them shorter. Will occasionally do back yard work in a speedo. Have been tempted to cut the grass that way, but since most of my lawn is in front and I live on a busy street, I have never done so/ReactReply

JMay 29, 2018If it was legal clothes would be boxed up and would be out of the house with the passing of law. Would drive to store and enjoy being able to do so without clothes. I would invest in a wrist wallet once again like when was a kid. I have to admit I have done this before in convenient stores and gas stations in VT where laws are relaxed about nude in public.

A few of my past coworkers knew i was a nudist and a select few actually saw me that way dropping off paperwork or working on site where thought was alone.

As long as I wouldn't be visiting the 'vertical barred hotel' (aka jail!!), then I would have no problem with everyone else around me being clothed. I'm sure that folks would ask me why I'm nude, but I have no problem explaining that this is a lifestyle and nudity is NOT sex!!
Only 2 circumstances where I would be clothed: (1) temperatures are below 60 degrees Fahrenheit; (2) type of work where clothing would be more practical, such as a welder, auto mechanic, etc.

However, societal norms have a significant impact on the laws that are passed. If it were legal and so few were actually being nude in public that people were surprised or shocked at seeing someone nude , thus being offended then the law would most likely be changed to make nudity illegal. So while I understand your viewpoint, the old saying use it or lose it applies.ReactReply
