`December Random Special` banner ads

These don't seem to be very 'random', most days this month they've seemed more like a permanent feature taking up about 20% of available browser space. If I've got mutiple tabs open they are invariably on all of them, that's not random at all.

I appreciate that TN wants to attract paid membership and that I'm a free user of the site. However a large part of my screen space taken up by a bright red banner is not an enjoyable experience, to me its an eyesore, something more easy on the eye might have worked better with me. Sure, I could block them from appearing but had chosen not to block any content on the TN site.

Its not as if I hadn't noticed them, they are currently more or less a permanent fixture. If I'd been considering paying for membership I'm sure I'd have taken up the 'random' offer weeks ago, continually giving users eye strain  doesn't work with me. Strangely I didn't see any while on the site yesterday and thought that they might have disappeared, but they're back with a vengeance today.

They remind me of those headache giving Flash banner ads that sites like Yahoo's were plagued with several years ago, they don't seem very 'web 2.0' let alone web-almost-2014.

This is my personal take on the ads, aside from these I use the site regularly and appreciate what it offers nudists in the way of communication with others. I might pay for membership one day, but not through the 'December permanent eyesore' convincing me to do so.
