Jun 8, 2012Could the owners of the site make it so, that in chat you can turn off PM's. except from selected profiles.
I am sure this would help women join chat. For they would not be inundated with PM's or requests.
So any-time you wanted to chat to anyone you had to ask in the main chat room. I am sure the number of requests would be low because everyone can see the requests being sent.

westheathenJun 8, 2012I do not use the chat room myself, so have no idea if that facility is available. However the site owner (TT1) would not be able to build it because the chat facility is a bought in service. Having said that though your suggestion sounds good to me.ReactReply - FL
FlokieJun 9, 2012As far as I know it's not possible to selectively screen pm's in the chat room although it is possible to turn them off all together. The downside to this is when I have my pm's turned off, the sender just thinks I'm ignoring them because as far as I know they don't get any sort of indication to let them know the pm's are turned off and are not getting through. In general, I think a whisper is better because it doesn't require an entirely different window but it's still easy to miss. The chat utility here is less than ideal ... but the people in it are great.
How do you turn off PM's? I am one of those females who avoids the chat room because I get inundated with PM's.ReactReply - RE
renebbareJun 11, 2012Possibly on the profile? Click on the profile name then ignore?
Or just say in the room - " 'profile name' - please make your comments in the general room."ReactReply - MEMemberJun 12, 2012
Possibly on the profile? Click on the profile name then ignore?
