Making a pond

We've been working on a rainwater retention pond for several years, and it's now nearly done. Here are some photos of the progress: Digging the hole Rolling rock away to a wall-building project elsewhere. We used most of the rock for walls, some of it held back to use to edge the liner. The soil we sifted and salvaged, to use in our potting mixes. Dealing with an avocado stump that had to be pulled out. Much too heavy to move more than a few inches at a time - we budged it along with long levers, propping up each inch of gain, then sawing away parts to make it more manageable. Liner in, and enough rain to fill it. This photo shows about two-thirds of the pond; there's a lower segment as well. The guppies - for mosquito control - are thriving.
