Jul 25, 2013This week has brought a flurry of changes to the site. Most of them unseen. Major improvements in speed and reliability have been integrated.
Unfortunately a lot of these changes did not launch smoothly, so my apologies for that. For now I'm just working on fixing any outstanding issues and ensuring everything is working properly.
Please feel free to use this thread to discuss your thoughts or let me know if something is not working right.

JohnSep 3, 2013

I have a problem, like many others, when replying using the quote feature. The problem is that I cannot write outside of the quote. You can see the correct function in post #26 and my problem in post #43.
I think I figured this problem out (For IE 9 anyway). You have to be in compatibility mode. There is an icon that looks like a page ripped in half up above the menu bar where you would enter an URL. Click on it and it should highlight blue. Click inside the quoted text and hit enter (I did it at the very beginning). Hit backspace to remove the extra space you just created. Now click in the white space.
I've been trying to figure this out since before the upgrade, so I don't know if that had anything to do with your problem or not.

Compatibility mode also works for this problem in IE10, which I am now able to use since one of my programs that didn't play well with it has been updated.
I noticed we now have spell check in forums (Is this part of TN or IE10?) and a sort feature in photos. Nice to see improvements being made regardless. Now just to get that pesky video feature fixed. I did do some testing. I uploaded the same bat video again, and it worked fine. Seems to be either a CODEX issue or a HD issue. Older videos in low resolution seem to do fine, while newer videos in HD choke and either get an error uploading or won't play correctly if they do upload.

DesertRatSep 10, 2013I was doing a search of close-by members and found some things that didn't ring true. I got strange and mixed results with the sorting. Sorting by age, login date, popularity, ect. were not consistent. I attempted different filters and it seemed ok but my profile was not there when it should have been. Is there a problem here?
One fact that may be of help; our site was originally listed as "Single Male" but we changed it to "Couple". When we search for Couples, it doesn't show up as it has in the past. Thanks, DesertRatReactReply - JO
JohnSep 10, 2013

I put this in another thread because I couldn't find this one at the time. For the last several days, the 'members near me' tab doesn't display anyone. Before this started, it was displaying folks in Virginia. (I'm in Illinois).
John aka cobeachbum
The 'Members near me' is working again, but oddly only shows five, instead of six. Perhaps a mileage limit, since the old number six that used to show is in Chicago, over 200 miles away.
John aka cobeachbum
Now it's down to four on the 'members near me'. Pretty soon, I'll be kinda lonely :). (The search function seems work correctly).

Click on "Events". You will get the option to view events you've been invited to as well as the option to create an event.

ManOfWicklowSep 30, 2013
On topic, one style change that would be welcomed is the font color used in the quote blocks. The F5F5F5 background and the 999999 text color are too close together to be easily readable by folks with less than 20/20 vision. The background is AOK, but the text should be black (000000). While in the innards, it would be good to have all forum text switched to black rather than 333333.
Obviously this isn't a crucial issue, but it would help us older folks to view the words of wisdom.

DesertRatSep 30, 2013This is a minor issue but it's been mentioned before; could the seven links at the top of the page, Home, Search, Chat, Forums, Gallery, Groups, and Locations, be listed horizontially rather than vertically? Seems like this would save some space.ReactReply - JO
JohnSep 30, 2013
I would just like to be able to quote someone and have my new text outside of the quote. Currently my cursor is in the quote box, and I cannot get it out.
This has been discussed before. If you're using any of the IE flavors, go into compatibility mode (click the icon that looks like a broken page). Add a space in the quote box then remove it. You should now be able to click outside the quote box and add your comments. Compatibility mode also correctly recognizes paragraph breaks. Chrome works correctly for quoting also.
What I would like is for the quoted part to identify the original author(s).

John aka cobeachbum
OK. That worked. But wouldn't it be nice if the owners just fixed the bugs? Don't they know that nice people like us will eventually stop paying and go away if the site is annoying? Just say'n. Keep up the good work owners but really, respond to your customers.ReactReply - BR
bryan60657Oct 21, 2013Everything works well enough for me except for one thing:
When I look at my "friends" list, it shows who is online and/or in chat. However, it never seems to be correct.
When I see friends listed as "in chat", I can go into the chat room and they are not there
This happens most of the time
I use Firefox
So just wondering how accurate the "Online" and "In Chat" indicators are.
Thanks for a great site!

DesertRatNov 15, 2013I like the new Home Page but could you place the Sign In Box somewhere near the top of the page. There's no need for members to scroll down through all that info just to sign in.
I like having the links back at the top of the page. Well done.ReactReply - KE
KeithNov 15, 2013new front page looked nice and clean , but notice that when I click on a forum it opens on the first page not the last page as it used too.ReactReply - JO
JohnNov 15, 2013I use "TapaTalk" on my iPhone to access another forum. It works really well. I think the owners have to make this site available to it.

JohnNov 15, 2013Totally agree. Its disappointing when useful features just don't work. This happens to me on all devices.

DesertRatNov 17, 2013On the new home page I found a link to sign in at the upper right of the page. When I click on it, nothing happens. I have to go far down the page to find a link to sign in. Can this be corrected?ReactReply - KE
KeithNov 17, 2013DesertRat, on my first page I get a little tab on the top right hand corner which asks "Already a member" I click on that band it brings up a login /password tab window with my details already pre filled I click on login on button and a second time and I am logged in no hassles maybe try resetting you pc with Cntrl-F5 and see what happens.
