I guess it depends on the doctor and severity of your appointment. I was at doctors today and got fast response. I went a few months back and complained of same problem but this time it was worse. I thought I had a hernia and the doctor at first appointment had a 2 second look and gave me a cream, she was female and maybe she didint want to make me feel uncomfortable!! but on the result of that she had sent me on 3 weekly blood counts to determine the problem, this week it was much worse the lump had grew and got much larger. The doctor today actually made me drop my trousers and had a feel around and determined it probably isnt a hernia which puts my mind at ease no doubt!! It turns out I may have an infection which is causing this and I have been put on mediction which will hopefully put my blood count right and sort the problem out!!! I guess what Im trying to say is that if the first doctor did the same and made me drop my trousers and have a proper check I may have been in a better situation right now

rdrunningSep 24, 2015The only exam I have ever had naked was done by my dermatologist, which is absolute necessary. The general practitioner just asks my to drop trousers for hernia and prostate exams.
ReactReply - MEMemberSep 28, 2015I'm going to a dermatologist tomorrow and was asked when making the appointment what it was I needed. I said just a check up since it's been about 3 years since I've been to a skin doctor for a check up. The receptionist then asked "full body" and I said yes.
While living overseas the trip to the dermatologist was get completely naked and lay on the table - much like a massage - face up then face down. The doctor there had a magnify glass thingy with a bright light and he looked all over, including cock and balls. Is it the same in the USA? I hope so! :)ReactReply - BA
barelyexpressedNov 1, 2015My GP spends more time on his computer than he does checking me out. This is starting to annoy me. I don't mind being naked or poked and prodded in the doctor's office; isn't that what is supposed to happen. He does the prostate check once a year, but, he seems to hate it (he's rough and hurried unlike the MD I had before who was just matter of fact about it) and asks if I think we need to do it. Had the dermatologist do the full body search with my boxers on and never bothered to look under them. How do you find a doc that is willing to have you undressed and really look?

Both conduct complete physicals and body check while I am nude. Do not understand how a Doctor can examine anyone if they are wearing clothes.ReactReply - KC
KCandRCNov 2, 2015For my yearly exams the nurse has me strip down to undershorts and the doc has me pull them down for testicular exam as well as prostate exam. Several years ago I had a female doc and it was the same.

We went to the wife's Gyno appt. Nurse hands her a paper gown, told to take her clothes off and put this on. Dr. comes in having to move it out of the way for her complete exam.

- NUnudeyooperNov 5, 2015I don't know if it is from his training or the fact that he is from the middle east, but my doctor seems to be more uncomfortable with full nudity than I am. I am usually asked to strip to my underwear and offered a gown. I sometimes indicate that I really don't need it and that seems to be OK. But the doctor will ask me to lie on my back for an abdominal exam and place folded blanket over my pubic area even though I am wearing my briefs. When doing the prostate exam, he prefers to have me on my side and just slip the shorts down. This last time, I just took them off. It was easier than struggling with them and easier to clean up the excess lubricant.
The dermatologists will have me strip to my underwear and then pull the waist band out to do their visual exam. I suppose I could offer to strip completely if it made things easier for them.
The gowns are a joke, they tend to fall off or get in the way and I end up sitting there with this pile of cloth in my lap.ReactReply - BO

I just did my annual physical and was told to strip to my skivvies and put on that paper robe. I told the nurse that I didn't wear underwear and she no problem, you still have to wear the robe. I did and the exam went on without a hitch.

SteveMay 31, 2016At my last doctors visit, the only article of clothing had me remove was my socks! He listened to my heart and everything through my shirt. It was really strange. How could this be an effective checkup? I'm fair skinned too and need to keep up with any skin damage.

A new young female medical assistant told me to "disrobe, leave your under garments on and put on this gown opening to the back." I asked, "you want me to leave my underwear on?" She indignantly said "yes, your here for a physical examination." I replied "and you want me to leave my underwear on?" She forcefully said, "yes." I laughed and said "That's not how she (the Doctor) does it." She looked confused and softly said "ok" and left. I stripped and slipped into the robe as I have been doing for over 20 years with this Doctor.ReactReply

naykidJun 5, 2016My male Dr. left the practice. I needed a new PCP and I requested it be a lady. I was assigned the one that was PCP to my late wife.
At the first visit I was placed in the exam room and waited. The Dr. arrived and had a lady Intern. The Dr. asked if I minded if the lady intern watched and learned. No problem with me. She then said they would step out of the room wile I undressed and she handed me a gown. I asked why they were stepping out since they would see all of me when they came back in. Policy. When undressed they re-entered the exam room to a nude me. Didn't act surprised and did an exam. Then did vitals at the end. I thought that vitals were usually first, but OK , new Dr.
She took my blood pressure and looked concerned. Having not yet taken a history yet she didn't know I run 140/90. Concerned, she took it again. She looked very concerned. She then says to me "Your blood pressure is a little high." I said to her "What did you expect? I'm in a little room with two pretty lady's who just told me to take off all my clothes. This is a guys dream."The Dr. cracked a small smile and the Intern didn't know weather to laugh or be embarrassed.

When she comes back she always brings a nurse in with her. The first time I went to her and she started to do the exam and started to push my abdomen I got an erection in front of her and the nurse. She told me to not worry that happens sometimes the first couple of times. She was right after the second check up I didn't get an erection anymore in front of her and the nurse.ReactReply

The Doctor ordered a catheter to drain my bladder. A female nurse came to do the procedure and another very young woman came in with her. The nurse did the procedure and the other woman just watched without saying a word. I always wondered what the role was for this other woman. Was she just there to learn the procedure or was she there to check out my anatomy? Did they feel the nurse may need some protection or what? My primary physician is female along with my dermatologist. I just had this conversation with her 2 weeks ago because I had a prostate question and the last exam before that she brought in a female nurse to observe the testicle and prostate exam portion. She said all the Drs in the office required another person present even if the Dr is a male. Gender played absolutely no role. On the flip side my dermatologist has me take off all my clothes but i have to put on the famous no back paper gown. Once she finishes some small talk and discusses the usual sun damage stuff and importance of sunscreen she puts on those magnifying light up goggles and has me remove the gown after she's done with the backside. She's very methodical and clinical and it's done in a few minutes. Just weird how there are different rules for different types of Drs.

Stone AndyJan 8, 2018My experience is that in a complete physical includes for a hernia and prostate and the doctor is more concerned about not being present when I undress than when I am naked and getting examined. Prior to the exam the nurse asks me to strip down to my shorts. Maybe Ill just start out naked rather than in my shorts next time so the doctor doesn't need to leave the room.
