Man, I hate those baggy, calf length shorts they call a swimsuit these days!!! How can anyone be so modest? I got some laughs at a water park for wearing a speedo but at least it doesn't pour water for an hour after I get out and keep me cold til it's dry! The smaller, the better for me. I'm not unfashionable usually, but can't get into this trend at all.

nuderunrMar 24, 2009Yes, when I was getting ready for a trip to Hawaii last year I went shopping for a swimsuit and was surprised to learn you can buy swim trunks anymore. All that I could find were the long legged variety (I think the are called board shorts?). Anyway, I gave in and bought a pair which haven't been used since my trip. But me in a speedo would just be wrong. LOL So I guess I'll be forced to seek out nudist beaches and just say no to swimsuits altogther.

gator1Mar 24, 2009Me in a Speedo would not be a pretty sight, either. I look better nude than in one of those, lol. I have 3 or 4 bathing suits with short legs I got last summer, but looking already this spring I haven't seen anything that isn't "board shorts". Won't be getting any of those. They are ugly!!

HI I went into our local Walmart the other day and found they stocking swimsuits that are almost like a speedo without the name brand, and some other swim shorts that dont have that long leg thing! Check it out. I cant see myself wearing board shorts either, I'd rather wear cut-offs from blue jeans.

gabareMar 24, 2009IT also seems that Europeans are comfortable in speedo style suits but than again they are also comfortable being nude at the beach too, we Americans have to many hangups

ThomasMar 24, 2009I bought a speedo at a clearance as a joke years ago and after my ex saw she went out and bought me three more. I found that they were a lot better for water skiing becaue I didn't have a big water balloon around my waist They are also a lot better for swimming.

PhilfreeeukMar 25, 2009Swim wear? pass! hehe, I do have a rather smart looking pair of Speedos I spose you call them, at least 20 years old. (and they still fit :) Black with a very thin white diagonal line every half inch. Only ever used if textile company calls by when I'm in the garden. Wouldn't even consider going for a swim in them. Phil.

CanoodlerOriginal PosterMar 25, 2009Good job on the answers guys! Impressed I got so many so fast! Definitely board shorts lost out. I was down in Cuba a while back and had to wear one, so wore a rather smallish speedo type. It was great cuz when I went skin diving I just took it off and held it in my hand.

PheonixMar 26, 2009I use to wear dick tog when I was younger but I found them to be Over Priced for what they are, When you can get a stylish pair of Bordie's. These days there are so many different cuts that there is For Sure one to fit Anyone and the material is the sort that doesn't tear your skin. I have been complemented on the clothes I wear and my reply is "Thank you, I don't like wearing clothes so when I do they may as well be nice"Middle aged men in dick togs just give the general public something to laugh at, and they do, don't think they don't.So what I say is "Two choices, Don't dress or dress Sharp". This is the general consensus in Australia.ReactReply - TR
trumpeterMar 26, 2009A speedo would definitely draw attention to the fact that I'm definitely not the best looking guy on the beach. Going naked, I could blend in better. When I vacationed in Florida and was at a textile beach, we definitely noticed the men in speedos and ladies in thongs (whether you wanted to see them or not) because their outfit drew attention to their bodies. That wasn't the case at Haulover.
That being said, I hate that it takes an hour to dry off when you have boardshorts on. My wife doesn't understand why I hate it so much.ReactReply - CA
CanoodlerOriginal PosterMar 26, 2009Nudeau...speedo UNDER board shorts??? What is the point there? That's a lot of fabric just to swim!

CanoodlerOriginal PosterMar 26, 2009Trumpeter, I know what you mean about drawing attention to your midriff. And I would never wear a thong or g-string on a nude beach. But the fact is, a bathing suit is just a censored rectangle in front of our genitals, made more ridiculous because now, we're pretending that we have no thighs either. Notice however, that guys are wearing them awfully low! So for me, it's a statement. I'll wear something because I have to, but I've still got genitals, as does every other guy. That said, I still wear big suits when with a group of friends. I know, no conviction...sigh.

PheonixMar 27, 2009You can get Bordie's now that dry in about 5 Min's, just go to your local Surf Shop and they can help you acquire a pair that will suite you to a T.

bareskinzkoolApr 7, 2009Tan through speedo, short biker shorts, or a thong, but definitely only when I have to, otherwise nude is best!

gator1Apr 7, 2009Truth is, I would look better nude than in a speedo.
I do want a very small suit to wear in the back yard pool when their might be folks around, though.ReactReply - IB
ibnakidApr 10, 2009I found a big selection of men's swim wear from board short to speedos to trunks and even thongs if you're into those, at the International Jock web site. They have a lot of different brands and you can shop on line. I think its www.internationaljock.com

ocmickApr 11, 2009
when I have to wear a suit, it is a speedo. Was at my sister and brother-in-law's once and we decided to go swimming, so my bro-in law loaned me one of his speedos to use. Felt much better than a baggy suit. My son thinks they are gross.
I get the same thing from my son...and I'm taking "fashion" advice from an 18 year old...why?ReactReply - ST
SteveSApr 11, 2009A speedo or nothing. If you don't like what you see look away! I dress or undress for myself not other people.
