Try mixed-sex environments. Pick occasions when you have things to do, and reasons to interact with people, rather than just lie there.  (Volleyball, anyone?) Worry less; you can always roll over, get in the water, pull up a towel for a bit. Review your decision to put up a photo shot up toward the crotch - in a nudist environment, as in a textile one, it is more usual to interact face-to-face rather than up from the knees.
This may be a touchy subject....but I'm a newbie nudist..and yes Im gay..but i cabt seem from getting an erection around gay or straight men..any advice..
This should not be a touchy subject as it's a perfectly normal reaction, more so when your new to nudism/naturism.  One obvious thing is to carry a towel about with you that's big enough to throw over your shoulder and long enough to cover your erection.  In time, you should learn to control your erections, it just takes a bit of time.  You didn't say whether you have a high libido or not as this will have an effect on how often you get erect.  There is also the obvious thing of seeing other guys naked and liking what you see, again a perfectly natural thing to happen.
I also note from having just looked at your profile, that you are a very nicely endowed man, so you becoming erect will stand out more than others would.  Some people masturbate/ejaculate before being in the situation of being naked with other guys, just to take the edge off becoming erect when in company of others guys, it can help, but not always.
You being gay has nothing really to do with it, as even straight men will become erect when other guys are hard as well, it's just something that happens, your all men, we all know that mens dicks have a mind of their own and the more you think of wanting it to go down, the harder it becomes, so just let it happen !  There will be guys, str8 or gay that will admire the fact that your well endowed and that can set them off to becoming hard.  Never be made to feel bad or embarrassed about becoming erect, your no different to any other man.
It's all part of becoming a nudist, you do learn to deal with it one way or another.

IMHO as a gay nudist as well, I think that male arousal is perfectly natural. Likewise, whether gay nudists, gay friendly or male friendly nudists people will recognize this as well. True Nudists respect this and only true prudists will assume you have some "perverted" motive and chastise you for it.

Still, whether you're 14 of 47 it is nudist etiquette to not expose your erection. Simply roll on your stomach, jump in the pool or cover yourself with a towel until it goes away.

I agree with the mixed-sex environment and interaction with other people but playing volleyball is not something i would recommend.
in my case, all this jumping and bouncing makes it worse...

This discussion has gone far astray. The last post is inappropriate here.
Why inappropriate? It is a guy asking a legitimate question.  Another guy provided a legitimate, honest answer.  We are mature adults.  Isn't the essence of nudism accepting who we are and the bodies we have?  Those bodies happen to function in a way to result with erections. It is a valid discussion and I don't believe the way it has been discussed is inappropriate at all.

Perfectly natural and okay.  It happens and it fades; it should not be embarrassing.  I wouldn't flaunt it  though.  Discretion is a good thing and so is getting an erection.  Let the setting be your guide for what is appropriate.

Boners are a gift to be enjoyed each and every time you have one. Doesn't mean you have to flaunt it. Just enjoy it and don't be self conscious about it. they happen and dissapear equally fast.

I don't see anything inappropriate either, it's a concern for all males contemplating their first visit to a Nudist Club. Even the AANR addresses it in their literature, so why the big hoopla?

My advise would be 1) accept the fact that your cock has "a mind if its own" 2) accepting fact 1 you will then know erections can happen whether you are in a textile or nude situation and finally 3) if in a nude situation amongst a group of nude men and women chances are there maybe some in the group who are prudish so both shocked and horrified by the seeing an erect cock. Fortunately a majority know an erection is not always a signal of sexual intent. One therefore should never be ashamed or embarrassed if one happens to be nude and gets an erection and if people admire it be flattered and proud

Did you not read the Forum rules ?

This gentleman asked a perfectly reasonable question to which he is getting answers. Am sorry if you think it has gone too far, but this MALE section is here for ANYONE (Male), to ask anything they like.

As someone else said, if you don't like it, don't read it. OR put another way, stop being a prude and realise that other people are just starting out with regards to being naked.

It does annoy me when some people think the topic is about sex, when it is NOT.

What the hell are you going on about ?

This really does piss me off. The guy asked a question, a perfectly normal question. Where do some of you on here get off making it out to be more than it actually is ?

Answer me this. Does waking up in the morning with a boner mean you have dreamed about sex all night ? NO it doesn't.

Just because any guy gets hard does not mean they are cruising their minds about sex, or put another way, lighten the hell up and take the damn topic for what it is, a serious question from someone new to naturism.

Not all men have to be turned on to become erect or even be thinking about sex.

Honestly, will some of you stop being so self righteous thinking your the damned experts over nudism/naturism and that men get a bloody hardon.

There is something is this thread that I don't get. The original poster seemed to have asked a reasonable question in the Men's Forum and so many have jumped all over him. This is an issue I think most have experienced, especially when we were younger, I know I did. The first time me and my wife went to a skinny dipping pond a short after we married, I couldn't keep it down. The same thing happened when we would skinny dip in our apartment pool. Speaking for myself, there were many times where this embarrassed me, but I just dealt with it. Now that I'm much older and have experienced much more group nudity, it doesn't happen. Sometimes, I kind of wish it would. The older fellows here know what I mean.

Let's just point out one thing here. The original posters question was perfectly valid and correct. My answer to him was not about getting a cheap thrill or anything like that, I answered as I saw appropriate, I don't care whether you or anyone else thinks my answer was wrong.

His problem with getting erect happens to a lot of men, more so when they are starting out with nudism/naturism. Your not telling me it never happened to the prudes on here at some point in their lives !

With time we do learn to control this problem, but for some people, it takes a little longer. My answer to this gentleman was as valid as his question, just because I asked if he had/has a high libido, and a large endowment, was not a chat up line or anything of the sort.

I do not need your comments to be dismissive of any post or reply that anyone puts in the male section of this site. It states that we can ask anything we want to, as it's the MEN'S section. You can report me all you wish, but what the hell gives any of you the right to bitch about someone asking a very genuine question and receiving answers, no matter how they appear to come across in your minds !

If those of you don't like a question asked on here, don't read it or move on if all you can do is put someone down. You lot make it sound as though you invented being naked and are quardian's of some sacred cult that only YOU appear to have the answers to !

If all some of you can think is that I am trying to see if I can get it on with another male member of this site, just because I mention he has a large penis, then your well out of line and should be ashamed of yourselves.

So instead of thinking your all in the right, try reading a post with a more open mind and THINK before you all start having a go at anyone just because someone mentions that a guy has a large todger.

Honestly, get over yourselves some of you, your not the damned experts or officials that trawl these pages to make others feel bad. If you lot can't think beyond your idea of what you think is wrong or right, then leave this site.

You need to read the forum rules mate !

We were only talking about erections and not displaying them. The male forum is the place for questions like this.

What is it about you Americans and what YOU think is ok to put as a topic on here ! Oh I forget, you lot think you know everything about nudity and ettiquete, how it should be done.

Keep your opinions to yourself if you can't be constructive and help someone with a problem, or put another way, mind your own damned business ! Don't like it, don't read it.

I'm so confused about all these erection postings. I've been to so many nude beaches, campgrounds, and resorts with tons of friends (all guys) and not once ever has any one of them ever gotten an erection just because they were naked around other people. Are people just seeking attention or wanting to talk about erections or something? Sure, if one happens then so be it no big deal don't make an issue out of it but I think everybody on this forum knows that aside from maybe the very first time you go naked somewhere and are nervous this typically is not a problem.

Finally, one decent comment from someone.

Some on here have blown this out of all proportion. It was a simple question and those of us who could give some form of advice did ! Others could not resist to denegrate the subject and comments made.

Thank you.

Covering up is not an option at the social nudist group I attend. It is clothing optional for women, but men must have their penis visible at all times. I believe this is to prevent men who stare at women etc.
