I have made a curious observation that I would be interested in hearing from others about. In meeting other nudist guys in person, and again when seeing the guys here on TN, it appears that most nudist men have smooth bodies with little to no hair. Am I just dreaming that? I am a hairy guy and enjoy nudism, but from appearances, it would seem that I am in the minority. My assumption is that the male nudist population would mirror the general population in regard to ratio of smooth to hairy men represented. It doesn't seem to be the case. I would be interested in your perspective: Are most nudist men smooth and not hairy? Why is this the case? Thanks for sharing your ideas.

Jim OneillNov 9, 2020I am not one for the manscaped look. I have noticed here and in life that most men I have seen from other countries tend to shave or sculpt their manfur. It seems that most of the German and English men I have met or seen tend to be fully shaved or leave a small, closely cropped bit of pubic hair. Most of the men from Southern European countries and the tropics often shave or trim their armpits and pubic areas. In the warmer climates the pits and pubes go to keep those areas a bit cooler and less fragrant. I suppose the others loose the fur for visual reasons.
As a photographer, I prefer male models to be natural and let their body hair grow. That seems to align with my view that a natural body is visually more pleasing and interesting to shoot. Detailed shots of a natural male body provide such a diverse landscapes that catch the light differently and make for some fascinating images.

Hey Jim. I think you and I are on the same page when it comes to men looking natural. I prefer seeing the non-manscaped guy and don't care to manscape my own body. Also, as a photographer too, I prefer to see a man in his natural state. I wonder if the men who trim their body hair think they need to do so to fit into some nudist circles? Just curious. Mike

Even on a woman I prefer at least some hair on her. So on a women at least some hair and on a guy full bush. Just my opinion.

FreeoutdoorsNov 11, 2020Everyone is different. Of a guy is really hairy , they cant really shave their pubes because then there would be a bald spot. Right? But people with less hair it can be aesthetically pleasing to shave and match the rest of the body. Personally I am right in between and tend to mix it up. But typically low cut in summer, then grow out in winter.

I do think it looks stupid to have a shaved pubic area and not the rest but again that is my opinion.

SteveNov 11, 2020I aim to keep it as short as possible while not being obviously trimmed, so that's a #3 blade on the trimmer and a bush thinned to match, so there's no obvious transition when wearing a small swim brief.

JohnNov 15, 2020I agree that it is a personal preference. While it seems that many nudist men are smooth, there are also those who sport the bushy or a trimmed look. Personally I like being completely smooth - pubes, stomach, chest, armpits and butt. I love the look and feel and I find it makes me feel more naked.

But I know a lot of hairy gay nudists too, just not on this site but I don't think this site represents the nudist community comprehensively. I often wonder if someone told guys that other women/men/whomever prefers them to be shaves smooth. While I definitely am a member of the trimmed up club I don't have the time or desire to keep everything shaved down. I mean, I appreciate smooth and hairy bodies for sure I just don't think some guys are shaving because they really want to but instead because they feel they have to to fit in. SanjayNov 17, 2020Hey there - there seems to be an inordinate amount of shaved / hairless men out there I will agree - is it to do with showing off the definition of their bodies / perhaps not liking the furriness of their natural state? The other thing is men who go topless at the beach or wherever seem to prefer the hairless look - and I think women, men, society in general have a lot to do with those attitudes. Who knows - takes all types to make the world go round....
I have my hair trimmed (not waxed / shaved) every month - I like it neater and manageable - I think it looks better and is much easier to manage too... such is my preference. ;)

I do the bare minimum of trimming for maintenance and I enjoy cock rings so I tame the bush mostly for ease of application on and off. I personally prefer the au natural look but if hair removal makes you feel good more power to you. Shouldnt be any stipulation either way really. A bald cock and balls grabs my focus on initial view but I feel whatever way your skin feels comfortable on you is how you should keep it.

Unfortunately for me I am pretty hairy all over which I hate. I would much prefer to be smooth all over.
When younger having a hairy chest was in vogue -,the magnum pi look. Which was ok but now Im much older and having gone grey its not such a nice look. Especially back hair. I do get my wife to remove it every so often but its never smooth ...... and seems to grow back even worse.
I trim chest and Pubic hair and have also removed it all on occassions but again its never really smooth.
It does Make me self conscious when baring all in public but something I need to overcome

RunnerAZDec 4, 2020Ive never been a very hairy guy and never did much manscaping for most of my life. About 3 years ago I had to shave my balls for my vasectomy. I wasnt really sure what I was doing and ended up shaving a bit much then looking at the awkward results I just kind of did a scorched earth move and took away everything. I loved how it felt and kept it up. My wife was pretty indifferent, but it was wonderful to me. After about a year of the annoyance of shaving I started getting waxed, front and back. Felt even better (afterwards of course, not during the waxing. Ouch). Right now Im just kind of keeping trimmed because COVID is keeping me from my waxed. Cant wait to be truly smooth down there again.

Naturally Im pretty hairless. While this was very embarrassing in high school in 1980s, it appears I am finally in style! With that said, a lone tree standing in a field looks a lot taller than if surrounded by a forest.
