I saw a man on a nude beach wearing a penis ring. Any thoughts?

EarlDNov 18, 2022The person may have been nude but not a nudist/naturist IMO. Penis rings serve a sexual function which has nothing to do with naturism/nudism. You can find all kinds of people on a nude public beach and many here who think this is perfectly aligned with nudism I for one do not.

Bill BowserNov 19, 2022People have been using a variety of methods to decorate their bodies since long before the beginning of recorded history, and it continues to this day. While I would never wear any sort of adornment on my penis, I think that everyone should be free to do so, if they choose. It has no impact on me.
The same is true of piercings and tattoos. I dont understand why anyone would want to do that, but if thats what you want to do, have at it. If someones behavior doesnt affect me, I see no reason to object to it.

PaulNov 19, 2022People have been wearing jewelry of all sorts for thousands of years. Genital decorations are nothing new. I'm not likely to give it any more thought that I would a necklace or bracelet.
I don't get all bent out of shape over things that are none of my business, none of my concern, and that don't affect me.

SteveNov 19, 2022Depending on the day I may be comparing his with mine! I just like the feeling of wearing them and even the look as someone who otherwise is not into jewellery. Nothing more than that. Hopefully others like the look or at least don't mind, if I'm only wearing a ring or two and a smile.

Nude PaulNov 19, 2022When you say penis ring, do you mean a cock ring or penis jewelry? I have a pubic, scrotal and foreskin piercing as well as a penis tattoo. For me, it's not sexual but instead just decorations, or adornment. for my genitals.

EarlDNov 19, 2022Love folks who say its just decoration without talking about why we decorate body parts like our genitalia. SMH
The self expression argument is a reflection of the times we are in where I is more important than we. I want to show off my penis so I should be able to do whatever I ant because thats what matters most.
While I have seen the occasion genital piercing in a naturist setting on both women and men it is by no means common place. So please is you are going to suggest it is share the places times and people where this is true.

JimNov 19, 2022
I saw a man on a nude beach wearing a penis ring. Any thoughts?
These peircings are very common among a wide swath of the population with senior citizens being almost as likely to have one or more genital or body peircings as youth in their 20's. You saw it which means you were looking at his genitals, and that's always interesting to me, because I look at people's faces and often miss these things the first time or second time. Even nipple rings. The second question is what kind of beach? FKK, NKK, naturist with posted rules, or some kind of clothing optional on the range? Because lots of people have different views on what is and is not appropriate for the beach and if it's not a designated or posted and regulated environment, you can't expect things to suit your taste fully or even to not witness difference that might be confusing. My third question is, HOW was he wearing it? Was he thrusting his hips making it wag side to side (it's really obvious when someone is being s ex pest nuisance by parading around like a chippendales) or was he just walking sitting swimming etc? Ear peircings although common have a sexual connotation deeply so in the history of human culture. For millenia. And while we're used to one, and not the other the reason my mother still doesn't have peirced ears is for the reason I just mentioned. It's a penetration. And that signifies something she as a very observant protestant scot does not associate herself with. Penis rings are no different they are just in a different place. Just like the penis isn't sexual when unerect the ring is just a ring unless it's doing something else on the end of an erection and sure that connotation is there but so are any of the connotations betwen bodies and sex and the whole point naturism as it's articulated here is advancing is not to make those connections. I submit it's either or not some of one and not some of the other. And, there are still some men who have that PA (or prince albert) but rarely because they are mounted cavalry with swords and this ring invented by Queen Victoria's consort Prince Albert of Belgium allowed men to secure the penis away from the side where there could be a slip of a sword and the end of a paternal line, and also in battle, this was a favourite tactic of the nobles against nobles, neuter a prince, end a dynasty. It's rare to see it from this exact historical POV but many who are formal riders in Europe and NA get it as a rite of passage and as a symbol of the serious role the cavalry played and still does in some few circumstances in the history of the West. Also, most guys appeciate the extra questions and interest when its first arrived but soon tire of that and it, like a moustache or a haircut or tattoo goes into being part of the person and unremarkable. The other thing despite what I just said is to ask politely, excuse me but I am confused or maybe just new to this, would you be comfortable sharing why you wear that ring and if its not possible to remove it, I was always taught it was a sexualization but not by those wearing them... and, most will answer, (the reason you dont remove is that until it is gagued up to a safe size the hole will heal over fast and cause no end of misery. The wire to hoop to double and quad hoop size are too small to effectively prevent a cut or a tear if the ring is pulled, so those are all temporaries on the way to the final size, and this can take two to three or more years for some, and during this whole time you may not remove it for more than a few minutes to an hour. Some clubs have rules forbidding genital jewelry and that's fine because they are posted and part of the membership process, totally fair and fair warning. My view otherwise is that barring posted or institutional rules that are known and enforced by all and a supervising body, what other people do with their bodies is their business. I try not to worry about it unless there's something really off the charts in terms of in my face nonsense and not avoidable or lewd or harrassing behavior.ReactReply - WE

There's the usual dose of cultural imperialism in there, and some hubris. One of the major, major flaws of this naturism or these naturists is that they cannot restrain themselves for deciding for others what is right and wrong in any space someone else's home public a foreign country, it's absurd. This kind of social control or the desire for it is what we expect from very extreme religious sects not nudists or naturists. The entire premise was to get away from judgment and approbation and yet here we are with people who don't have don't know and don't want to, expressing opinions about the internal state of others they cannot have a clue about. If it's not your beach, your home, your club and you didn't ask the other person who was not being declarative in one way or the other, first off none of your business go elswhere if that is bothering you, and number two, you dont know. Mind reading is not a skill anyone here possesses. I don't understand the point, none of this was expressed in the moment, so you fumed and fretted about it until you could regurgiate it here, and what good has that done? Start a thread where you share your views from your experience of not being peirced and be positive about it and don't mention others if it matters. Why do none of you ever do that? It's not hard, and its more constructive than whinging.ReactReply - EA
EarlDNov 19, 2022Those who think that individual expression rises above everything are as much purists as those of us who want nudism and naturism to be no sexual in nature.
The nature of genital jewelry is sexual and any pretense that it isnt designed to draw attention to sexual organs is just that pretense and gaslighting in order to pursue an individual agenda regardless of how is seems to anyone else. This kind of toxic individuality is why societies and institutions no longer have any clout and we no longer have any interest in the common good.
As to nudists being tolerant they are no or less tolerant than any other segment of society. The attempt to shame those who simply express their opinion and view that nudism/naturism is non sexual in terms of public expressions of sexual behavior is nothing but a false flag and paper tiger meant to silence our voices. So the same people who say they must be allowed self expression turn around and attempt to quell the same when it doesnt serve their purpose. We seeit in the broader society and we see it in what now passes for nudism online.
I wish everyone would just be honest and be transparent about motives and intentions. That is not the world we live in however so we are left with the muddle of comments that have been shared here. It is no longer that society as a whole is moving away from nudist acceptance. In countries like Germany and the UK where naturists have worked hard to define public social nudity as non sexual there are many more opportunities for social and solo public nudity. While in the US clothing optional spaces and venues decline every year. But maybe that is what the individuals want because then their individual expression will stand out.ReactReply - PA

This is borne out by the fact that different societies sexualize different parts of the body. In some societies, a person can be entirely nude, as long as their feet, hands, hair, or face is covered from public view. Thus, any jewelry worn on those parts of the body is there strictly for the purpose of drawing sexual attention to those sexual parts. The Bakairi tribe in Brazil believe that eating is a shameful activity that should only be done in private. Merely because you see something as sexual doesn't mean others see it the same way. If you are not being harmed, if you property is not being damaged, if your rights are not being violated or abridged, if it's taking place somewhere not on your private property, then it's none of your business. I have a brother who insists that he is being physically harmed by people who do not share his perspective. When I've asked him to describe this physical harm, he is unable to do so but continues to insist that it's happening. He has full-blown Narcissistic Personality Disorder.ReactReply - EA

And a member of that tribe would "know" that the shame of eating is merely common sense. Of course it's shameful. And that's no different from claiming that any particular organ is dirty and shameful -- inherently sexual. The truth is, common sense clearly dictates that no part of the human body is dirty, shameful, or inherently sexual.
Regardless, if you are not being harmed, if your rights are not being violated, if your property is not being damaged, it's none of your business -- there cannot be a clearer case of common sense. OsoNov 19, 2022His argument is definitely coming across as "I don't like that and so it's obviously wrong and shouldn't be allowed". My father was adamant in teaching us the golden rule of "mind your own business", especially when it's not harming you in any way. So some man's penis has a shiny bit of metal on it, or a woman's nipples have hoops through them...who cares? No need to go clutching one's pearls over something so insignificant. It's a piece of jewelry, meant to enhance that person's look or self love or even sexual pleasure. But as long as they aren't actively having sex in front of you then that jewelry is no more sexual than a wedding band. I mean he is arguing a piece of metal is sexual, while he stares at another man's penis?

You do not have the relevant sub cultural experience. You dont read what is written you dismiss it because to you, anyone who has any interpretation of something you have branded obscene according to your values is some kind of pervert. Bravo. No, that is not acceptable, it is fascist and I won't have it. If you want to hold forth on a topic this broad and with a history and a HUGE body of literature, then read some of it. I have been watching, studying, interviewing and writing about these practices for thirty years. You may not understand this but a lot of what people do to their bodies isnt about you at all they don't care. Peircings and tattoos are narratives of the self, interrogations of the persons own flesh and those usually start as the first steps to resolving trauma and pain, and trauma and pain that you, naturism, no one has dealt with or cared to. This is the established baseline scientific explanation and I will gladly supply you with citations and an enormous reading list but perhaps, since you're just offering what is in your head based on your own prejudices, sit down? One of the people in this thread messaged me to share the reasons. Showing off had nothing and I mean nothing to do with it, and that is that cause its none of your business. Women who have had radical mastectomy get peirced and tatooed often...the trauma of losing a breast is huge. A friend has large rings and a lock over her labia and its because that is her rape guard and her stories are harrowing. She can go out in public this way because she knows the key is home and she's safe. It empowers her. She asks no one for comment and again, since the police failed to arrest and the courts failed to convict and her therapist a man blamed her the first time around, she did the best she could and THEN became a nudist. Are there exhibitionists? Yes. You are one with this song and dance routine. Its non sexual, and its non appealing too but it is all the preaching of the evangelical prudery one comes to expect here. I want you to notice, nowhere am I advocating for sex anything to do with it, just using the correct words from the scientific and anthro literature to describe to you what you don't understand and don't want to. Who made you the judge of what others can and cannot do and why they do it? I am not stupid I know what the initial question was about its silly titiallation but, some of us chose to ignore it and answer honestly and with some perspective past "he's a witch, burn him". I can tell you with every bit of certainty that i have that it is obvious who is being a show off or sex pest and who is just hanging out. Again, peirced ears are a sexual symbol and even more than the genitals. Look it up and see why orthodox women dont do it. That literature is quite clear. Its just that ladies you think are nice and respectable do this so you overlook the context and don't see it because they are nice and the earring is ok. I don't disagree. But the jump to genital peircings are always about sex is simply not based in fact. For trauma, to remember, for ownership of self or of another over, for adornment in aesthetic terms for spiritual or class/service/military reasons, for medical reasons (yup there are medical peircings dude) for healing for adapting and because our bodies belong to us and not you and not your ideas. Your home your club, your rules. You dont set the agenda in any given space nor are you qualified nor worthy. None of us is. But here's the big boy challenge. Instead of being a total chore here, do go up to the next person you see on your gilead like travels and denounce them. Say what you say here to their faces and not throwing pique from behind your scanner, darkly. Oh what's that? You don't have the nerve? Naturism isn't fascism but this is fascist. If you don't like it this much do not go to those beaches you cloister awaits. I don't have any tatoos or rings in my body and generally its not my thing but again, I AM NOT STARING AT GENITALS LIKE YOU ARE. WHY are you staring at the gentials of others Sir? You don't need to, the work isn't needed and it is very very borderline...pervy isn't it? I am certain you aren't and that this isn't why you seem to stare at genitals but, if you stop, you will feel better and you will more importantly be closer by a fraction to following the preaching of your choir. Looking at a penis pointing and screaming "foul temptress sex demon get out" isn't not sexualizing bodies. You see how that works no? No you don't but that;s ok we have all kinds in the world and judgment kink is one of those things. You seem to exhibit this in the last excretion. I may be mistaken but it's fairly clear you like to look you like to talk and you like to shame and then call everyone else the demonpervpigwhatever. Try facts. Try research. And try the golden light of silence. It's gibberish and you are not the moral arbiter of us or anyone and it seems you stuggle with yourself so to that, be true good Sir and dont open your yap and say something stupid again.ReactReply - JI

Bringing other cultures as relevant is an adventure in missing the point. In most indigenous cultures nonsexual nudity is not an issue because people often live clothes free. To try to make a corollary with a tribe that eats if private is a distraction nothing else.
Why not speak to the to examples I gave. Those are western cultures similar to US where naturism is growing while here in US it is shrinking.
For the person seeking research please share which of the points I made you want research to validate and I will provide it.
Here is one but regarding the growth of nudism in UK where the national organization has worked hard to get legal authorities to agree that public nudity with no sexual intent or intention to offend is legal
