- MEMemberApr 15, 2020
I was going to type something longer, but thats says it all. You cant change the definition of a word (naturism) into what you want. Words have meaning, its how they work. If you want to call yourself a naturist act like one.
The point to all of this Stevie Lorna, if you really read the original post: Someone who decides to post a face-less photo of themselves on a nudist website is no less a nudist than someone who posts a full body picture of themselves. Some people decide to keep their private life private, but would also like to belong to a group of people that they share a common interest with. Shaming them because they have face-less photos doesn't belong here. Name calling doesn't belong here. We are a Community, trying to support a nudist society, which is still deemed by the non-nudist society as wrong and immoral. Try conversing with your fellow, face-less pic, nudist and get to know them. Understand why it is that they cannot be as open and free as you are. Maybe they are shy, maybe they do have a job where they could be fired if a full body picture was copied by someone and posted on a social media website. Isn't part of this site to be Judgment Free..? Not everyone can wave their Nudist flag as high as others..ReactReply

StevieLornaApr 15, 2020Ill begin again.
Our experience of naturism is this.
What happens at a naturist beach or resort is exactly the same as what happens on textile beaches and resorts. Morals, decency and all the social norms dont disappear along with your underpants.
Real world naturist (me included) are some of the nicest friendliest non-judgmental people you will ever meet.
This is how we should always promote naturism.
Put naturism on line and you end up with TN , it gets hijacked by people (men, usually over 50 either single or with a non naturist partner) who have no idea how to behave and I doubt any of them have ever experienced real world naturism.
Lee, Roc, you can argue for their right to call themselves naturists, but in the real world... nah, they aint, In anyones definition.

FlokieApr 16, 2020... the owners have permitted it to become a soft-porn site that happens to have nudist/naturist members simply because there aren't many online options. I haven't been around much the last couple of years and this thread is pretty indicative of why not. I regularly visit naturist clubs, beaches and swims and have done so in three countries so far and my real-life experiences are all positive ones meeting interesting people and chatting about interesting things. This place can just get creepy with the focus on genitalia and sex. In the real world NO ONE will walk up to you and say "great tits" so why the hell do some consider it appropriate here? I am not ashamed of being a naturist but I removed the few fully nude photos I had because I was tired of deleting the sexual comments that were left.
Just be nice to people and behave exactly the same way you would if your mother was doing the introductions. Everyone knows I'm a naturist. It's not a dirty little secret and I welcome questions from friends and acquaintances. But do you know what? When they ask me where to get more information I have never, not once, directed anyone to this site. There is a reason AANR revoked True Nudists' membership.
I'll go back to my corner now.ReactReply - EA

Dont go back to your corner stay in the mix otherwise THEY win. I didnt even realize the site had AANR membership. Great info. You are correct about the real world vs online sites like this. It is the only place they can get away with that behavior. Betting most of them have never participated in a genuine social nudism or naturist event for that reason.ReactReply - ST
StevieLornaApr 16, 2020
For me, name calling is like telling someone who was sexually abused, they must have been asking for it. You disgust me! StevieLornaApr 16, 2020The BBC used to run a fascinating science show on TV here called Horizon. Each week it would examine different aspects of science. I remember one on intelligence. Animal and human. In one section of the show, it gave a random selection of people an IQ test.
An IQ test is a series of question to gage a persons intelligence, its been around for decades and millions have taken the test. The number of points you score determines your level of intelligence the average is 100 points. Score well above average and youre a genius, well below, a moron.
One lady ( 40s) was given her score as 80. She was quite upset by this and thought it rather unfair on her. Instead of going off and reading a book or two, she asked the testers of they couldnt make the average lower so she could become more intelligent.
Like I said earlier, morons dont know they are morons. And yes there is a test for it.
Lee I dont care if the OP doesnt want to post a face picture, Im not on the site to see pictures. But if anyone on a naturist site posts a dick pic and thinks that makes them a naturist. I doubt they would do well on the test. I stand by my words.

StevieLornaApr 16, 2020The OPs opening statement references another topic which we both posted on.
His closing statement asks that we live and let live and treat others with the respect we would like to be shown.
I agree with that profoundly.
But he doesnt say how we should treat the morons who dont respect us.... thats my point.

StevieLornaApr 16, 2020You know in other parts of the world, when someone shouts Fake News, it generally taken to mean the news is correct and the person shouting it is trying to divert attention from his own failings.
There is this one guy who keeps repeating it a lot.
Ps... Ive never called Lee a moron.... Id like to make that clear.ReactReply - EA
EarlDApr 16, 2020
And the excuses (I have too much to lose by showing my face, so let me show you my penis instead) are just ridiculous. As a man, I have spent my share of time in locker rooms and heard my share of locker room talk. Still, I find it very creepy when someone compliments me (quote, unquote) in a nudist setting. For women, as one of the recent posters here has pointed out, it is not just creepy, but downright hostile. That kind of behavior isolates us, makes us wary of newcomers, and eventually drives us away. Bottom line: when nudists push back against the sex and body part talk, we are just trying to keep others from littering on our part of the online beach. Sure, we dont own the site and we cant actually prevent anyone from behaving badly. Maybe the whole idea of a nudist website is misconceived. But when we do object, it is with reason and our views are also entitled to respect.
Another well reasoned and articulated post sadly dont expect the free for all proponents to address any of the points made because they are only interested in their perspective and agenda. But thank you for being so clear and thoughtful in expressing a genuine authentic naturist perspective..ReactReply - EA

SteveApr 16, 2020In real life, there are people who are comfortable with social nudity. There are lurkers and trolls. And there are very large numbers of people who think about social nudity and just aren't[em]there[/em]yet. Imagine a few perfectly nice folks sitting around talking about the[em]possibility[/em]of social nudity. Their nervous jokes, their body concerns, their misunderstandings. In real life, a few of those people will eventually work through enough of that to appear as newbies at a social venue. As poster after poster who has actually done that has said, the nudity is astonishingly uncomplicated after the first few minutes. Once they're there, they'll start to pick up moves and mannerisms, reflecting the body language of the people around them, adjust and fit in. That might be a slow process, as fitting in to any social group can be.
But this is the internet. Here, all those folks who aren't there yet, are with us. At a social venue, we encounter a minority of newbies, and even then only those who have taken the important and sometimes difficult step of showing up. Online, we share space with the large number of perfectly nice folks who haven't yet done that, and who bring their concerns and misunderstandings with them. Online, we are not a definite, smallish group of also-naked people, sitting alone or interacting in small and shifting groups. Stepping into this space is a very different experience. Safer, because we are really just sitting at our desks, and that's why there are so many of us; scarier, because this is not an in-the-moment experience with a group of people, it's an on-the-record experience visible to the entire world. Here, there is no body language. No smiles. There's just text and photos.
The site simply can't be an online version of a beach or resort. It can't have the same mix of people. The interactions can't be the same. More tolerance is definitely required; there will be more variety of behavior. The offsetting advantage is that we are safer, sitting at our desks.
(If there's one behavior to focus on, it's the level of sexual pic comments and chat approaches - that gets personal and rises to the level of harassment for some people. An option to restrict photo comments to friends would help.)ReactReply - ST
StevieLornaApr 17, 2020Lee, you started a thread about a child having an erection at a nudist resort, a totally fake scenario which you admitted to, and another thread asking if women with highly charged sex drives actually exist.
These are the thymes that court the sort of comment you detest so much, so why do you actively seek it out?

I wish you all the best in your nudist lives whether you are out there waving your Nudist Flag for everyone to see, or you are quietly part of this site because you are trying to find other like-minded individuals who share common interests. This is a welcoming site for others to share experiences, joys, world-wide concerns, and compassion with others. I hope this finds you all doing well... and staying safe.

JohnApr 18, 2020
nakedunashamed started this topic with: "Shaming others for expressing their nakedness/sexuality differently than you do is no different than the people who would shame you for being a nudist. You can't have it both ways. Live and let live. And, treat others as you would like to be treated. Then, the culture here will be just fine." Stoneandy just added: "Let's stop the judging and affirm one another instead." I think the starting and ending posts are perfect.
Totally agree. But we also need to protect our children. We also need to minimize public behaviors of the few that would be detrimental to the majority's freedom to enjoy simple nude activity. Public opinion dictates our freedom to be nude.ReactReply - SA
Stone AndyApr 18, 2020Thank you Londinuim and Freelee for being my teachers, arguing back and forth like my brain often does and pointing me to wisdom.
Freelee seems to say: Help me to accept the things I cannot change.
Londinuim seems to retort: Help me to change the things I can.
And between the insults and barbs I sense many believe: And have the wisdom to know the diffference. You are both right at your cores and you are both loved very deeply. Have a beautiful day. We're all in this together, men.

JohnApr 18, 2020
FreeLee - I think your points are valid and I genuinely appreciate your contribution to the site, but let me give one persons view from the other side of the question: It would be one thing if this were just another soft-porn sex site that had a small corner where nudists (you know who you are) could congregate and socialize online. The sex talk and dick pics would just be so much background noise. But this site holds itself out specially as a nudist website (certification, moderators and all that) where, one would think, the sex talk and dick pics would just as unwelcome as at any other nudist event. The constant intrusion of that material chases away more people than you might think and prevents the rest of us from enjoying the site more. So, in part it is a question of expectations. In my experience, nudists are the last people who want to make rules for others, impose ideological purity tests, or engage in sex or body-shaming. At the same time, it is tiresome to read yet another post that seems to start out as a nudist issue (e.g. body-image) but quickly turns into the writers masturbation fantasy. And the excuses (I have too much to lose by showing my face, so let me show you my penis instead) are just ridiculous.
