In my understanding of nude recreation - we are not here to flaunt sexuality. Why does it need to be a profile question? Strikes me as a little creepy and one of the reasons I have not opted for paid membership here in an otherwise good nudist organization online. Really I do not want to know who is what sexual orintation. I am not go looking for sexual information when I am in a nudist enviroment. Furthrmore I have a safe and balanced sexual life in the company of my loved one and do not look anywhere for extra cirricular gratification, here, my home club, work, other personal groups and organizations. Why should I be intrested here?

BigTeddyJohnnyDec 29, 2010Hey everyone. I just wanted to put my two cents out here on this. Thing is, lately I have noticed that clothing has made me rather repressed sexually. If I had been nude longer (not just brief locker room times) around some hot guys it would have been obvious what I like to (or would like to) take to bed. We are human and our human-ness is hidden in the greater community(clothing enforced). I think that being made to wear clothing-- it has errant and repressive undertones. I remember the first movie in which I saw a nude man. He was heading to a pool. Mostly all I thought at my young age was, "Why can't I go to a pool in the nude?" That, of course, and I really enjoyed looking at him in the nude.
Sex is inextricably a part of who we are, but it need not over take the rest of who we are. I like what I saw somewhere around here or on the AANR site. If you have an erection jump in the pool or roll over or put a towel on. As if to say, "Hey we aren't here for your orgy!" I think that sums up what we do at the resort or the beach, but what about if I want gay guys to come over and watch TV in the nude with me? No need to worry about erections at my house if they happen they happen, and remember we were watching TV so don't look at me that way...
I think I had a point? My point I think is that when we are in community nudism is not about sexuality; when we are in private nudism is what we make it. This site is for us to be private people in public! Answer the question of your sexual identity or don't, but please don't tell me that it has no place here. It has a place here because our personal selves are shared here with the TrueNudist community.ReactReply - JO
jonnytJan 14, 2011sexual orientation is not about sex. It's about who you fall in love with. If being gay (for example) was determined by sex, then I wouldn't have been gay as a child. I was gay, but i did not have sex until well into my adult years. Similarly, when I'm old and impotent I'm not going to magically turn straight because I can no longer have gay sex.
Being straight or gay is not about sex, it's about who you love.
People have said here that you shouldn't flaunt your sexuality, but straight people do it all the time. My mum flaunts her heterosexuality... she wears two metal bands around her finger to show she's engaged and married to a man, and she actually changed her name to be the same as his! How is that not flaunting your sexuality? Also, i see that many of the people who have complained about being asked for sexual orientation have listed themselves as married, and come from areas where gay marriage is not yet permitted... bit of a giveaway.ReactReply - UP
UpstatenudeJan 15, 2011Ok... so let me get this straight... being Straight or Gay isn't based on sex.... so what you are saying is... if I am a man, that loves a women... but has sex with men.... I am not gay??? Hmmmm.... this is a very interesting topic.... and conversation.... so its about what / who you LOVE, not anything about who you are sleeping with... or having sex with.. I guess I am going to have to start doing some research to clear up some things that I thought were right but obviously was mistaken about... that must be the difference between being gay and being homoSEXual.... Gay people LOVE the same sex while homosexuals have sex with the same sex... wow... silly me I always thought the words meant the same thing....
Sorry if this is some what off the wall, but I just find it a little odd and could have gotten something mixed up in my translation... please clarify if I am off...ReactReply - JO
jonnytJan 15, 2011The "sexual" part of the word refers to gender, not shagging. homo sexual means same gender. hetero sexual means different gender.
It's like when they ask on a form "sex" do you put male/female or do you put "missionary position" lolReactReply - SU
Sunbeam65Feb 28, 2011As with any social networking tool there is a desire to find people of "like mind" - yes we're all nudists, but beyond that it's a question interests, lifestyles, relationship status or interests. For some sexual orientation may be a deal breaker, for others it could be exactly what they are looking for in like-minded friends.

ChuckMar 6, 2011The sexual orientation of others has never been important to me as long as it wasn't flaunted at me. I have worked with gay men that were really good Friends and they knew I was straight. Not one time did they ever hit on me. Being Friends with gays or bi's is usually pretty easy for when they know where I'm coming from.

AlaskamoeMar 9, 2011
i would think in the states there should be a category for "republican" or "democrat" listed on profiles. Wouldn't that save a lot of time in choosing who you would approve?!?
That and sport teams! :)ReactReply - GR
greg1792Mar 9, 2011I am gay but I just left this out of my profile. I have a number of straight nudist male friends & have chatted with a number on here. I just don't find too many people who think this is a major issue. If some straight woman wants to look at my nude photos why should I care.

AntonApr 24, 2011I choose to not answer the question in my profile I don't think that it is important. The strange thing that I find is that there are so many degrees between straight and gay, with a stop toward the end at bisexual. From my limited understanding of sociology bisexuals seem to be a minority in society yet in the community I have never seen so many people actively say they are bisexual. It makes me wonder whether its a factor in being a nudist
it would be interesting to see how many of the guys who list themselves as bisexual have actually told anyone this (particularly their wives). While I would prefer that there are less categories that make it less vague, at the end of the day each to their own if you think its not important do not answer the questionReactReply - FL
FlokieApr 24, 2011As others have stated, you do not have to post a sexual orientation and I am one of the few who have chosen not to. Do I have one? Of course I do, but unless you are seeking a sexual partner on here I don't see how it has any bearing whatsoever. I even debated not including a relationship status but in the end I posted one.
I am a very occasional participant here and it is mainly because of the overwhelmingly sexual nature of many of the profiles and groups. I know there are good people here and I am eternally optimistic but this is the third time I have joined (always under the same username) and I have to tell you that there is a better than average chance I will not be staying.ReactReply - CA
CanoodlerApr 24, 2011Oh, stick around Folklover. There are creeps here just like in the real world but you're not thinking of leaving that...I hope. It's nice to see a yang face sometimes and get another perspective. As for sexual orientation, I list straight as there are lots of trolling gays here and it's a facet of my personality and perspective. You can see me, and find out about my personality through my many posts but that's one part of me that otherwise might be difficult to discern.
And to address the first poster, read how many times you use the word "I" and then ask yourself if everyone is "you".ReactReply - MEMemberJul 7, 2011
I aggree it should be a non issue, I also think in the chat room the mods should monitor the sexual comments WRT to orientation. I rememember making a comment to one poster who, when they logged in< stated " I am gay, who else here is?" this is the attitude os sexual orientation that is not important. The chat should be about who you are not who you want to do. The subject should be irrelevent and strongly discouraged as ones oreintation is not relevent as Nudists it is about enjoying life nude. It is not about your sexual orientation.

SoupieJul 7, 2011I'm beginning to regret listing my "orientation" on here. I'm a long time nudist, with nudist friends of both sexes and orientations and I enjoy making new friends. But there are still so many people out there who assume that gay equals sex obsessed and promiscuous. You talk about "gay" trolling and sexual comments. Believe me when I say that there are far more straight pervs on here then gay, trolling constantly, and giving "straights" a bad name. And many people who state their orientation, but aren't honest about it.

RoosterockJul 7, 2011

While this is a site for bona fide nudists/naturists, you are inevitably going to get some people trying it on. You get that on all sites. Hell, I belong to a social network that is supposed to be all about Scotland and at times it looks like a knocking shop. So I reckon having your orientation up leaves people under no illusion. Yet, putting "Straight" up on my profile has not stopped two guys coming on to me, and that's only since I joined a few days ago. :D
I know just what you mean. I hate it when straight guys flaunt their sexuality around me. And chicks hitting on me is so frigging rude! Who would want to even be around someone who does crap like that? Would I even want to date someone who is so stupid to think I might not be gay?[/quote If are the type that likes to flaunt it. Look at me, I am gay. In every posting you making, it is all about you being gay. Get a life and get over it. You are what you are.ReactReply - DI
dicemanJul 7, 2011
I may be wrong in this but the software for this forum is probably a "straight out of the box" (ie not modified for a specific purpose) product. What leads me to this conclusion is the fact that one of the other question is why are you here and includes dating as an option. Now if you were intending dating someone then their sexuality becomes VERY important.
I like this answerReactReply - MEMemberJul 8, 2011The best response is to ignore what is not of interest.
Which brings us all neatly back to: State your sexual orientation if you want to Upload pics and make them visible to all if you want to State that you're here for dating if you want to State your income bracket if you want to If you want to, if you want to, if you want to..... YOU have the choice!ReactReply
- MEMemberJul 8, 2011
Does not bother me one way or the other. It is like the previous person posted, all about choice. You can choose to fill out your profile with limited information or have one with information that others will want to read, and then possibly get to know you through chat, messages, and maybe meet in real time. Just be open and honest.
ReactReply - MEMemberJul 8, 2011
I agree to the open and honest part, and definately it is all about choices, but it is useless information, or I think that is what the thread is trying to determine.

Curt, or CowboyJul 8, 2011
As far as myself, it is no more insulting to ask me my sexual orientation then to ask if I like spinach...
For me, I agree ! Furthermore, if it helps your purpose to answer that particular bit of information, then do so. If it hinders your time on this site, then don't. It's not mandatory. To many of us, ( most ? ) it doesn't matter anyway.ReactReply - SO
SoupieJul 8, 2011Whenever a straight male friend of mine asks me why I never hit on them, I'm always honest and up front and tell them "It's because you're ugly."

KrilleJul 9, 2011I can't see why it should be more controversial to want to know about people's sexual orientation than to know about their gender (which is mandatory to declare here!), weight, length, marital status etc. Neither of this is necessarily related to nudism either!
It's optional to declare, and it's optional for everyone to pay attention to it. Personally I prefer to be clear about my sexual orientation - those who find it important to know about it get quick information, those who are indifferent to it can ignore it.
Wishing you all a nude weekend! :-)ReactReply
